The Corrs sound comfortably at home on this orchestrally enhanced acoustic gig, recorded at Ardmore Studios outside Dublin in early October 1999. With only two studio albums to their credit, it may seem a bit early to go for an Unplugged rerun, but the inclusion of two new Corrs-penned songs and a trio of previously unheard covers, in addition to the live greatest hits, means there's something fresh to enjoy. An unplugged session also establishes clearly that the Corrs, in danger of being perceived as pop puppets, are a real band who play and sing beautifully and can deliver the goods live. Encouragingly, the two new songs, "Radio" and "At Your Side," are well up to the usual Corrs standard, while much of the already familiar material benefits from tasty arrangements--"What Can I Do" in particular works better than the dance-remix hit version. --Johnny Black Acoustic versions of the hit Irish sibling pop quartet's best, plus covers of R.E.M.'s 'Everybody Hurts', Jimi Hendrix's 'Little Wing' and Jimmy McCarty's 'No Frontiers', all recorded for MTV Unplugged & to be broadcast at the end of November, 1999. Produced by Mitchell Froom (Crowded House, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello), mixed by Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, David Bowie) and with string arrangements by Fiachra Trench (Van Morrison). 14 tracks total, also including versions of 'What Can I Do', 'So Young' and 'Forgiven, Not Forgotten'. 1999 release. Corrs Live... WOW
I am so glad my friend introduced me to their live version of Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix - it is wonderful, and haunting, and I can't stop listening to it...! That's the way I feel about this whole CD now - it will be in my car for a long time. Check out the YouTube - then come back to buy the CD... like I did.

The Corrs are best live
The Corrs are best live, preferably on video where you can enjoy their spirited performance and incredible beauty (the sisters, that is). But wanting something I could listen to in the car I opted for the Unplugged CD. I had seen the video a couple of times and liked it a lot. The CD delivers much better sound than you can get on YouTube. It includes their hits and a few very good covers. If you are a Corrs, fan you won't go wrong with this.

Unplugged
Aside from "The Corrs - Live from Geneva" concert, the "Unplugged" concert is my favorite Corrs' concert, and I own five of their concerts. It is an up close and personal concert with excellent sound and a wonderful back-up orchestra. Like "The Corrs - Live at Lansdowne Road", it is a European (Region 2) DVD, which will not play on most American DVD players. It can be played on a laptop computer, however. If you like the music The Corrs used to make, you'll enjoy this DVD, and wish the group would make a comeback for it's many fans around the world.

Rare band that sounds better live. They edited out Caroline clanking the last note on runaway and all the flack everyone gave her which I missed but still the best Corrs greatest hits album you'll find.
