Comparison - Roxon S801S Storm/Strom versus S802 Phantom
If, like me, you're looking for a pliers-type multitool with an actually decent pair of scissors, Roxon are the only game in town. I needed a replacement for a stolen Leatherman Wave, so I decided to order both and do a little comparison. First up, the 801S is an improved version of the original, so some issues you may find in earlier reviews have been fixed. For example, the saw blade has been given a locking mechanism, and the position of the can opener has been moved for a better action. Overall they are both reassuringly solid, well-built tools. Both are quite large, but the 802 is a little bulkier. Ignore the stated weight; the 801 weighs 312g without case (though the screwdriver bits will add a little) and the 802s weighs 302g. The later 802 has a slightly nicer and smoother action, and looks/feels a little more refined, but there's little difference once you get used to them. In terms of tools, the 801 is just better equipped. I find the file, cord cutter, bottle opener and adaptable screwdriver bit much more useful than the chisel and very flat Philips driver on the 802. The corkscrew is a bit of a waste of space since most wines nowadays are screw-tops, but I would pick up a Victorinox mini screwdriver (£3-5 on ebay) to store in it. The 802's swappable blade system works well, but the designers made a lot of sacrifices for it. The default blade is larger than the 801, and I found the 'tanto' design quite hard to control for precision cutting due to the weight of the tool. I picked up the 3-blade pack for £20 with the Stanley craft knife attachment, which is very clever and works well, although it does stick out from the tool and interferes slightly with the pliers action. If I were keeping the 802 (spoiler alert) I would probably swap between the craft knife and flat blade that also came with the pack, and never use the tanto again. One spare blade case will fit - just - in the knife sheath, much like the screwdriver bits on the 801. Finally, the scissors on both are very good for light to medium use, and cut fabric and cardboard cleanly. A slight edge goes to the 802 for a better action and lockable handle, and because a few 801 owners have reported the metal catch on the scissor action can snap off if used heavily. In conclusion, hope that was useful to you if you're weighing up the 801 and 802. I ultimately chose to go with the 801 for the slightly better price and the greater range of tools it offers, but both are good kit and well worth the price.

Excellent bit of kit.
I really like this multi tool. It feels good in the hand and is easy to use with plenty of features. Everything on this is solid and well made. The scissors are a great size, the pliers come with two sets of cutting edges and the changeable blade is a superb feature. Mine came with the tanto blade and it’s sharp enough to shave the hair on my arm. I have had a Leatherman Charge Ti for around 15 years or so and the Roxon compares very favourably, especially as it costs around a quarter of the current price of the Charge. The Roxon is slightly heavier and a fraction larger but this makes it more comfortable to use, although the Roxon doesn’t have quite as many tools as standard. It does, however, come with a sturdy pouch, I had to purchase the Leatherman pouch separately which adds to the cost. I have no idea how Roxon can sell this at such a reasonable cost but, for me, this is an absolute bargain.

Good multitool
Feels well made and solidly built. Scissors cut well, unlike some. Pretty much all the tools lock open. The only downside is the pouch it comes with doesn't have anywhere to hold the screwdriver bits.

Great value EDC multitool
This is my first multitool, bought this to use around the house for odd jobs. This has very large set of scissors which is very good for cutting plastic clothing tags, paper and fabric. The multitools best feature I think is the removable blade, this is useful as you can use the knife and then wash/dry it before placing it back into the unit. The accompanying carrying case that comes with this has horizontal and vertical carrying options. It also comes with a multi bit set as well for different screws types. Overall I am very happy with this multitool, it very complete and you don’t need to buy anything additional, it’s great features like the large scissors and removal knife. If you want a multitool that is good value for money I highly recommend this.

Handy tool
This thing comes in so handy in so many ways. The interchangeable blades are great idea and easy to swap and the scissors are properly useful, cutting through most things with ease. Cheaper than a Leatherman and better, in my opinion. I work on set and people have actually asked me about this thing on multiple occassions.

Roxon shines again!
Roxon shines again! Aims for leadership at multitool market. Proves that last year models were not just 'one off' lucky event. Five stars from me for innovation, quality and value! This model is coming very close to my definition of the nearly 'perfect' mulititool. If I could, I would nominate them as the winner (or at least serious contender) to the first prize for the Best of the new Multitool worldwide! I am great fond of Leatherman but Roxon demonstrated persistence and sustained effort to take over the crown. I am not kidding! Leatherman watch Roxon and 'get back on horse' or die! 😉 Removable blades of different shapes is a genius idea! Large, working and practical scissors, I would not settle anymore for swiss size ones. Minor things still missing / awaited : >No opening in needle awl?!!! (There is one in wide screwdriver instead but it unfortunately cannot serve the same purpose) >I would be very interested in various blades upgrades in higher grade steel (even if slightly more expensive) >Hoping that Roxon would include at some point the holder for replaceable standard T-shanks (similar like those on the Surge) >Optional blade non-locking mechanism would be an icing on the cake for UK market (with strict/ weird knife law regulations) Well done Roxon! Highly recommending this model to all interested in travel (check on baggage of course), camping, hunting, bushcraft, prepping and survival. Mobile professionals should be interested too! Would be buying again for my own use and as excellent gift idea.

A must have multitool, with add on extras
The Roxon S802 Phantom is a great multitool it not an expensive compaired to others on the market but have the choice of 11 different blades is a great idea also the oversized scissors are another great addition and all the tools on S802 have locked or need to be opened with a push button is a great feature this is a worthwhile looking at if you are in the market for a pocket multitool that also had additional extras that you can buy as and when you want and even then does not break the bank and for less than £50 you can buy all the additional blades it a good deal and they are all good quality blades you will be hard pressed to find a multitool with all the extras for £100 but have a look around for the additional extra blades it's one of those must have items if you collect multitools.
