Are the moon phases accurate?

As accurate as in the astronomy magazines. The clock is as accurate as any in the house save the "atomic" clocks in my house. Truly amazing for a device with plastic gears on both counts.

Does the color of the moon change?

Yes because of dust in our atmosphere

How do you set the date?

There is a dial recessed in the bottom. Clock is the most accurate timepiece short of our "atomic" clocks.

Is there a higher wuality version of this item available? I love the idea however the cheap plastic and over all lower quality look gives me pause.
