Notably, the 2.5-inch mounting holes use the coarser thread usually found on 3.5 inch HDDs, rather than the finer thread common amongst SSDs. It comes with a full set of matching countersunk head screws, but it could be a concern if you don't already have a large collection of PC screws, should countersunk head screws not be the appropriate screw for where you're mounting the adapter.

Easy to use and it just works. I put the mSATA SSD in, screwed it in place with the provided screws, connected it up with a SATA-USB cable I had already and plugged it in to the computer. After a brief wait for the driver install I can see the user's data. Maybe this will teach them to do backups (I don't want to say I told you so...) but at least I can salvage things when they destroy their laptop.

My work computer was fried yesterday by my youngest plugging a live usb cable in another port. killed the motherboard. for how much I paid for that machine, you'd think that they would have a contingency worked out. maybe put a fuse in there where all ports connect to prior to touching the motherboard. man, was I mad and anxious, I need a powerful machine for my work but I do have a couple spare laptops around that are just old, one is just for the kids to play with so they don't play with Dad's very expensive laptop. Another I use as a server, private email, download and stream machine and to manage my home network as well as a few other things. it's amazing what a machine with outdated hardware and a very large hardrive can do when running a lite Linux OS. well I needed the harddrive which happened to be a mini SSD from my work machine and startech.com in combo with amazon were able to get me the addaptor less than 12 hours from ordering it. took a laptop from my collection, one of the more decent ones, few screws, pulled the ssd out of it, inserted the adaptor, pluged the mSATA SSD into it and powered it up. horray! it worked perfectly. I seriously could not be a more satisfied customer and very much recomend this product for simular situations. it wouldn't be good for upgradding to a mSATA becouse it does create a bottle neck. for an upgrade I would just replace the harddrive with any regular size SSD but this was an absolutely amazing product for my situation. now the fun part- shopping for a new rig but for now, this will get e through the work week. I know you are thinking, "why dont you back your system up, then it would be be easy to copy the image to a spare drive." well I do have backups but right before this even happened I had just spent 8 hours working on a project that is important and has some personal info on clients along with an invoice for the work that was schedualed to be encrpted and backed up at 1 am like every other day to my homemade network NAS. the short of it is: this product is great, price is great, the seller is great, shipping was incredible. thank you guys so much, I will be recomending you to everyone.
