Fantastic sound at a reasonable price!
I recently got a new vizio 65" tv and sound quality was so bad.I actually thought I might be losing my hearing. Not wanting to spend a lot of money, i did some research and found the zvox accuvoice, AV 100 compact TV soundbar speaker. I thought I would have to get somebody to help my hook it up. To my surprise , it was basically plug and play. The muffled voices, and excruciating loud background noise I was dealing with from my visio tv speakers are now crisp clear voices. I am exceptionally happy with the soundbar, especially since it only costs $99 dollars. My neighbor in the apartment next to me is also very pleased because I don't have to blast the volume to hear voices clearly. A note about the mess of wires hanging from my tv, the soundbar uses only one very thin wire.

It’s pretty nifty device. Essentially just tweeters in a 10 inch bar.
I’m not exactly using as it is intended. Essentially it’s advertised for people with hearing loss. Essentially I did some research and this is basically a soundbar with just 2 tweeters. And well my sound system had too much midrange and not enough high range. So the vocals and simbles would get muddy. Adding this to my system it brought back clarity and simbles. I’m hearing parts of songs I’ve never heard before. I really love it. Amazing with movies pared with my speakers. Speakers handles all of the grunt work and soundbar restores the clarity and bringing voices to the front.

Compact, Easy to Install, Seems to Make a Difference
I have two Samsung flat-screen TVs and find dialogue very difficult to understand on both. Initially, I thought it was just my age (73) and poor hearing but after researching the problem online, I found that flat screens suffer from a couple of problems relative to sound quality. 1. The speakers that will actually fit into the thin cross section of a flat screen TV just can't have the cone or magnet size needed for decent sound quality/clarity. 2. Most flat screen TV speakers face backward (usually toward a wall) or downward. This is not ideal for projecting clear sound. My assumption is that the TV makers either assume that purchasers will add a wall-of-sound system or surround sound system or just don't want the added expense of a decent sound system. Regardless, it seems a universal problem for flat screen TVs. Finally reaching my wits end, I began searching for a solution to the garbled dialogue problem. There are a lot of options (headphones, table-top speakers, surround sound giants, etc.). None of these seemed practical for me and then I came across the ZVOX line of speakers that claim to be specifically designed to offer improved dialogue clarity. There are a number of different models (read-->price points), and physical sizes. I really didn't want to clutter up the table the TVs sit on, so I decided to give the smallest model a try. The offer of a 30 return policy was a plus in the decision although Amazon has always been good about returns. For $99.99 it was worth a try. I received the unit in only a few days. The box was actually smaller than I was expecting as was the actual speaker. Installation consisted of plugging in the provided power adapter and then plugging in the provided Optical cable to the back of my TV and back of the speaker. Installation instructions were both brief and clear. With the speaker installed, I turned on my TV. I had previously "cut the cable" and streamed everything through my Fire-stick. I was a bit concerned about having a remote for the fire stick and now another remote for the ZVOX. There didn't appear to be any way to have the fire stick remote control the speaker options. As suggested in the instructions, I turned my TV volume to zero and then pressed the power button on the ZVOX remote. Sound came out of the ZVOX speaker. It did sound different from my TV speakers. I adjusted the volume to a decent level picked a show that is usually difficult to understand and then began pressing the AccuVoice button on the ZVOX remote. I was pleased that with each push on the button the sound sounded different. The best description is that the sound begins with a decent amount of bass and with each press of the button becomes a bit more treble-forward. There are six AccuVoice setting and the final (6th) position is quite treble-forward. Not unlike a cheap table-top radio from the 60s. That may sound like a criticism, but it is not. After spending over a year listening to muffled flat-screen speakers, a tinny, but clear, sound was a welcomed change. So, what do I think? 1. The device does project clear sound toward the viewer which makes understanding much easier. 2. If you are looking for a surround sound system to capture all the room shattering sounds from Star Wars, then this is not the unit for you. It is marketed as a device to deliver clear audio, particularly dialogue. It does exactly that. The larger ZVOX systems may provide more "big" sound if that is your preference. I just wanted to be able to watch a British sitcom and be able to understand what they were saying. The basic ZVOX does that for me. 3. If you want a full (i.e. bassey) audio then this device is probably not needed, but will provide decent bass in the AccuVoice number 1 position. 4. Negatives? Only one so far is that I have to store another remote on my crowded night stand. Wish the ZVOX remote could control my TV (fire stick) or the fire stick could control the ZVOX. Finally, will I be returning the device? Well, no. Actually I plan to order a second unit for the other TV. As far as durability goes, I'll just have to see. ZVOX does offer a longer warranty if you register your unit. I plan to do that.

What did they say?
Wow my carcass is 47 years young and my spouse is 7 years younger, bottom line we both have "horrible hearing" eg. "slave to grind" in the call center environment "wearing a head set like a crown" since 16 years of age and the bonus/gift of "tinnitus". This soundbar offers a totally satisfactory experience like no other being a stand alone unit. The only thing comparable thus far has been "Breakaway Audio Enhancer" software but that's not an option because its too much effort to "watch TV" on a desk top or laptop cause its "too much effort" and electricity to boot. The "straw that broke the camels back" and forced me/us to do a "leap of faith" on this fine product was my self and spouse attempting to watch Species II(1998 academy award winner), the movie was a downloaded "backup" and lacked subtitles (.srt) and or captions (cc). Yes subtitles can be acquired on the internets via download but locating and syncing would be a new problem, again too much effort. We kept looking at each other and saying "I cant understand what they are saying" and then self would "crank the volume" only to lower it once something exploded or someone started shooting in the movie. The thing that made me believe this bar was a tried and true solution was the amount of images of people in their "golden/twilight years" on the box and listings advertainments/ promo materials. We firmly believe the "back firing" speakers is a real problem and forces people to upgrade to a sound bar or surrounding sound system eg. more money spent. I think it was George Lucas that said 50% of the movie is sound. If you cant understand the movie, your just looking at a pretty picture. For some people/family's captions/subtitles is a polarizing household dilemma/fight eg. complaining/personal preferences "get the words off the screen" its distracting or subs/cc is simply NOT an option. This bar is cute (mini) and small but oh so powerful, in combination with the 6 levels of voice boost, perfect for focusing on dialogue rather than say something with a subwoofer for people looking for that "boom-boom-pow" (gotta get that) my self and spouse both agree that this bar can be a bit of hassle for those "technically inclined" with older TVs or just age: where are your children, nieces and nephews when you need them? maybe a converter can be utilized or simply reconnecting with family or summoning geek squad would remedy these scenarios. Side note first world problems and or lack of effort 1. self's original order for the "espresso" was canceled by amazon (self got the espresso because I was being cheap and felt like i did not need the remote because I already have like 100 remotes and did want to add to the collection) so after the order was cancelled I opted to "spend some cash" for the version with the remote (unsolved mysteries update: note looks like the listing the espresso is gone maybe this is the reason the order was cancelled, self can only assume the stock was low/ phased out/delisted/some mysterious logistical/or carl jungs concept of synchronicity ) 2: this did not work with my older panasonyonic tv (analog digital out) (maybe a converter would have sufficed ) again too much effort opted to use a newer tv with an optical digital in/out (see attached photos for more detail)

It makes the TV sound so much clearer.
This sound bar works beautifully. I used to have to use captions while watching TV, but now I don't. The verbal speech is so much clearer and distinct now. I just love it!

Several Flaws
There is no doubt this speaker, by diminishing the bass element and enhancing the treble component is helpful since all hearing loss is slanted to the treble spectrum ....unfortunately I found two problems .. TV boxes have a digital output not switched off with the Video ,,, and when first switched on this speaker cuts in and out for several minutes

It works!
I bought because I wanted to hear TV dialog more clearly without blasting my wife out of the room. Alas, her hearing runs about 20/15. Mine is fair but not good in the voice frequencies - which happen to be most damaged by frequent rifle, shotgun and handgun shooting from my teen years and on WITHOUT EAR PROTECTION. Plus I suffered multiple ear infections as a kid... Given that history, my hearing is fair - except for voice range frequencies. Hence my interest in this product. I took off the Vizio soundbar & woofer from TV and installed it without difficulty. It works. I can now watch TV with lower volume even as the dialog is much clearer. I installed disabling the TV speakers (recommended per possible echo effect). But this box shortchanges the bass sounds. So, I tried unit with TV speakers back on. And, voila, no echo and better bass. Likely I'll be playing with two volume controls and the frequency tweaker settings for a while. Nope, TV, except for blue-ray DVDs can't give you theater sound unless you attach some expensive amp/equalizer stuff. Even then, you'd be adjusting per program inputs. Worth $130 for me.
