What are the dimensions?

When you get them they come flat those measurements are 8 7/8 by 5 1/2 inches when you fold them they become 5 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches and looks like a little box or as they are called a little roach motel and these traps catches anything that crawls, hops, slithers into it. Just to let you know I use them both ways flat and folded. I hope that helps

How is this different than the other sticky traps? I put two of those down and the mice are avoiding them. How would this be any different?

As the Maintenance Manager for my company's Office and warehouse I have used these glue traps, but have not caught any mice in them... mainly bugs and spiders. I did catch a bird in the trap recently!

will these work for chipmunks? and can you just use the glue pads without the box?

I do not think these glue pads will hold a chipmunk. Only if they are extremely small babies. Yes you can use glue traps without folding them.
