This reissued collection of 11 stinging blues classics brings Hendrix's work as a bluesman to the musical forefront. Features a brilliant 12-string acoustic rendition of "Hear My Train A Comin'," plus Hendrix's own tributes to some of his blues forefathers, including Muddy Waters' "Mannish Boy" and Booker T. Jones'"Born Under A Bad Sign." This original classic album is a 180 gram audiophile LP with a gatefold jacket and color LP booklet. Review: Very good hendrix - This is a well recorded album good pressing. A must have for Hendrix fans. Five star album buy it now! Review: Amazing album - This was album is a revelation. Who ever did the sound on this album nailed it. It's like sitting on a jam session or a small venue performance. It's all there, the amplifier hum, buzz of guitar's just like an intimate live performance. I first bought the CD first then someone talked about the LP so picked it up. If you have a good TT setup the LP sounds better and is the way to go.

An amazing compiliation
There is much controversy surrounding this album but I happen to think it is one of the best newer Hendrix compilations I have found that sounds great on a newer sound system. His older vinyls play on my tried but true system from the 90's and they sound great but for my newer "audiophile" system with a nice blend of over powered speakers and expensive hardware, an album with this style of mixing sounds great. It still sounds vintage and slightly damaged giving it a sense of authenticity and honesty but some tones and sounds shine through so brightly that they accent and augment Jimi's guitar playing despite their obvious studio tinkering. If certain songs are made up of multiple recordings, you can hardly tell as the segments transition very smooth and create a whole and worthy Hendrix listening experience. If you are a fan of Jimi's blues work at all, this album is a must have, even for the most stringent of purists.

Traditional Blues and More
Acoustic blues... mostly. There are some electric pieces on this, but the album is dominated by Jimi playing blues in a more traditional way. Some pieces are just okay, but there is enough here to electrify any blues fan and especially anyone who enjoys Jimi's singing. I've only listened to this once all the way through, but this is definitely an album I'll go back to time and time again.

Jimi killing it- amazing stuff- this record really gives you a lot info ...
Jimi killing it- amazing stuff- this record really gives you a lot info in the booklet and also sheds a lot of light on Jimi and where he wanted to go musically, and was headed , slowly, but unfortunately, never will. It also gives a much better understanding on why Hendrix loved Dylan so much- they share so many blues influences and Hendrix, musically gifted, was a poet himself and becoming a great writer, who may have gotten to a place to match Dylan even...RIP to rock's greatest guitarist - even if his skill can be matched, he was far too talanted in ways he "shouldn't have been" , typically. The book is also a great insight into Jimi and his opinions on black/white divisions and The stupidity of it ( very much like Dylan again in ways...) Can't recommend enough
