I love this so much - we have multiple of this item.
Over the past 7 to 10 years, we have been purchasing this exact model for our house, and all of them still work perfectly. We live in a house that was built in the late 60s, have two cats and two dogs, and three teenagers. I am HIGHLY allergic to cats - if I pet them, I have to wash my hands immediately. The amount of pet dander in my home is outrageous. We also recently had our subfloor replaces in several areas of the house and it has caused a massive amount of wood-colored dust (we need to have our duct work redone and suspect it is a part of the dust issue in the house). These are strategically placed around the house for maximum cleaning. One, these are the best because you can place them against a wall. The downside is that it will create more dust on the wall near the air purifier. Simple logic - the air exits the top and what hasn't been sucked in through the device travels on a path that hits the wall. So you have to dust your wall - no big deal. I have to do that, due to just being noticeable, about twice a year. The hepa filters only need to be changed once a year, and the pre-filter every 3 months. When I change the pre-filter, I normally run a vacuum around the edges where there is dust buildup. This is unavoidable for any air purifier (I have tried many versions and keep coming back to this one). WHAT MAKES THIS THE BEST: - Durability. I have had our first one we ever purchased (maybe 7 to 10 years ago) running all day at the highest speed without going on turbo, consistently and there has been zereo degradation to the unit. It works as well today as it did when we purchased it many years ago. - White Noise. I like white noise, and unless it is on turbo, you don't really think about the sound once you get used to it. My pets are not afraid of it, which means it's just white noise to them as well. - Frequency of filter changes and types of filters. Sure you can buy the name brand filter replacements, but the generic ones are just as good and you save money. Honeywell's products are excellent from my experience, and the device itself has stood the test of time. For the filter replacements, you're just paying for the Honeywell name if you choose their higher priced replacements. -CLEANER AIR! Like I said, we have four of these now. One in my son's room which is a mother-in-law suite - the size is sufficient for the size of his room. The room was an addition built in the late 80s, early 90s, and the door to the outside isn't perfect (old house issues), and some outdoor allergens get into his room. Having one in his room has greatly reduced allergies during high pollen season (we are in the south, pollen is around all year). Since adding the most recent unit, the amount of the brown dust I have seen has been reduced. We also have one in our living room that is large enough to seat 10 people, and a home office. My newest one is located in another home office that I share with my dogs and their crates. Again, allergen reduction was easily noticeable once it was in place. The last one we own in in our bedroom because of my allergies (no pets allowed). I know it has made a difference because I have significantly less allergies in the morning than I did prior to putting one in our bedroom. My entire life has been one allergy attack after another, even after taking allergy shots. These units help me live life - WITH PETS I AM ALLERGIC TO - without a constant runny nose and itchy eyes. If you are looking for a unit that will not die in a year, or start making strange sounds after a few weeks of use, THIS IS THE UNIT YOU HAVE BEEN DREAMING OF! Like I said, we have had the same one for many years (we got our first one at a big box store and I can only guess that it was at least 7 years ago, but I suspect it was closer to 10).

UPDATE 01/18/20 - Very Highly Recommended - Fantastic HEPA Air Filter at a Bargain Basement price.
*UPDATE 01/18/2020* After almost 4 years of continuing use of my Honeywell Hepa Air Purifiers they are still going strong! I now have 3 of these amazing machines, having replaced all three of my round Honeywell air filters. With regular maintenance and filter changes these air purifiers still do an excellent job of filtering the air in my home. I still have two cats in my home and my asthma has gotten a bit worse with age, but these Honeywell Hepa Air Filters still do an incredible job! The replacement filters are reasonably priced and the machines still maintain a virtually silent operation in the lowest setting. To sum up, 4 years later I am still very pleased with my purchase. Cheers! Tom F. - Chicago, IL. My chronic allergies and sinusitis have required that I use HEPA air filters in every room of my home. Over the past 20 years I have owned many different units, almost all of them were manufactured by Honeywell. While all had the same basic functions and worked quite well, this unit is by far the best and quietest air filter that I have ever owned. Consumer Reports rates this air filter very high and with good reason, because it's the best and most affordable unit on the market to date. The unit is very simple and offers double filtration, the extra thick charcoal filter is first, followed by the extra thick HEPA filter. The air is pulled in from the front of the unit where it goes through both filters and then comes out from an air grate on the top of the unit just behind the controls. This makes it a great space saver that can be placed almost anywhere, especially against a wall. There are 4 levels of filtration, #1) GERM, #2) GENERAL CLEAN #3) ALLERGEN and #4) TURBO. The 1st level GERM is virtually silent, I've never owned an air filter that is this quiet - it is the perfect level to use while watching a movie. #2) is a pleasant white noise that is barely audible and offers a great amount of filtration. The 3rd and 4th levels offer superior air flow and are so much quieter than my other Honeywell filters. While I still own multiple Honeywell filters and use them daily throughout my home, I will be replacing them with this unit as my budget allows. In searching for this air filter I looked very closely at comparable units priced as high as $600.- I was searching for an air filter that offered great filtration, but was also quiet so I could use it daily in my home theater room. After looking at almost 20 different units and brands in the $200-$600 price range, checking Consumer Reports as well as the Amazon consumer feedback I was won over by this Honeywell unit because of the price, the basic method of filtration, the very cool control panel, the fact that I could place the unit against a wall, the convenient size of the unit, and finally my positive experience over the past 20 years with Honeywell products. In the end I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this unit. One final note, the ability to turn the blue light off on the control panel is a welcome upgrade over my other Honeywell units. Thank you Honeywell & Amazon!

Works as expected
The reviews were excellent on this filter system & made me choose this over the others. One in particular explained how they were able to clean the HEPA & charcoal filters so you wouldn't have to buy new ones as often. Had this for a couple of months now & I must say that it sure pulls a lot of dust out of the air. We have it in our living room. I'm not sneezing as much as I used to. We've taken the advice on blowing out the charcoal filter with our air hose, and banging the HEPA filters on the sidewalk to dislodge the dust. Works like a charm. Had to do that after hardly two weeks after setting up the machine when it didn't seem to be pulling out as much dust as before. It was quite full of dust. The filter light never came on. We now check it every 2 weeks...it's dusty every time...doing its job. It's quiet on low, but gets noisier when turned up. We keep it on low. Great product. UPDATE: We've been using this now since February & after about 4 months, the HEPA filter light finally came on. We banged the filters on the ground (like a previous buyer suggested) but it didn't make the light go out. We went online to find replacement filters & ordered a box with 2 sets in it, so we should be good on filters till the end of the year. We only operate this machine when our windows are closed, as I don't see any value in filtering outside air that comes into the house through our open windows. Every couple of weeks, we take the foam charcoal filter out & use the handheld vacuum attachment (with the brush) to vacuum the dust off. Once a month, I vacuum that filter, then rinse it off & air-dry it overnight (turning off the machine until the filter is dry enough to be put back in). This machine is quiet enough to be put in a bedroom (when on lowest setting) & makes excellent white noise for those who need it. I've never had a filter machine like this before, so I don't have anything to compare it with, but it's doing a great job of removing dust from the air in our livingroom, where we spend most of our time. I also like that you can turn down the brightness of the instrument panel on top, or even turn almost all of them off, to cut down on extra light & power.

HUGE machine, works well
So to be clear, All HEPA filters will work well to clean your home's air. A hepa filter bungee-corded to a box fan will do the same job as an expensive machine, HEPA filters work and they work well. I basically wanted a unit with a few more bells/whistles and was quieter than a box fan. This checks all the box--but just barely. I feel like the pros of this machine are pretty self explanatory: it has a timer function, it is a neater-looking device than a box fan and more stable and aesthetically pleasing, and it has a pre-filter to catch hair and larger particles to keep the HEPA filters running as long as possible before needing to change them. If you have anyone with allergens, post-nasal drip issues, pets, etc. this thing will absolutely improve your air quality. I think weeding out the issues with it and letting consumers decide if they're okay with the issues I notice/come across that'd be more helpful, so for me the cons are: - The size of this machine is much larger than I was expecting. It can be a bit hard to imagine the size of items you order off the internet, but I was not expecting how large this machine was. It really the size of my entire torso and twice as wide. It fits in our large home space well, but if you live in a tiny apartment Skip This One. - The noise is low on the lowest setting, but on the allergen one it is not that much quieter than the box fan set ups. It's not the end of the world, and I think the highest setting here is still about only a medium on the box fan in noise comparison, but it'd have been nice to see a quieter operation on the allergen level. I have other HEPA filters in other rooms of the house, and these guys are WAY quieter in comparison. I think they could have done a better job reducing noise on the highest setting. If quiet operation is your number 1 seller, this is not the device for you. - The buttons are not intuitive and are touch-based. I really dislike touch-react buttons in comparison to mechanical button-pushing because I think these tend to break faster and have more issues, but it really does not give you 'areas' to touch to help you intuitively turn the machine on, adjust speed, etc. The "power" button in the middle also lets you set the speed, but it doesn't say this and I spent far too long tapping around and needing to go through the directions before I realized how they had set it up. - The filters are not a Single filter. In fact, they are THREE separate smaller HEPA filters. I think this was Honeywell's attempt to get the consumer to eat more cost in filters considering there is no excuse to avoid designing a standard square HEPA filter with the size of this machine. This machine is NOT the frugal option for sure. - The front grate that gives you access to the filters is a mechanism where you tap it into place to secure it. When moving the machine around it is right where your hands go, and you often unlock the front grate. Not a major flaw, but a better mechanism that isn't so easily accidentally tapped open would have been nice. - I wish the timer functions worked on a daily scale. It'd be really nice to click that button and have a DAILY 8-hour timer start each day instead of having to run it 24/7 when we're gone a few days. I literally never use the timer function because I'm absent minded and won't turn the machine on for 3-4 days if I do. With the box fan, I could put a mechanical timer on the plug itself and it'd auto turn on/off. With this machine, it requires human input every time.

THIS IS REALLY HELPING MY ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA SYMPTOMS
I waited to write this review, until I had been using this air purifier for a couple of weeks. So here goes. I have mild asthma and have allergy problems - the latter of which have never been terribly troublesome, and I've always been able to control through use of OTC medications. Last year I moved into a lovely condo that's surrounded on three side by beautiful trees. I underestimated the degree to which these trees would exacerbate my allergies. Coupled with the enormous amount of rainfall we've recently experienced here in northern California - in the last month my allergic reactions became severe. Consulted my E.N.T. We adjusted the meds a bit and he urged me to invest in a HEPA air purifier. After reading about several different options, and reading MANY helpful reviews here on Amazon, I decided to purchase this unit. have this large one in my living room, and the smaller version of the same unit in my bedroom. PROS: After about 3 days I noticed a marked difference in the quality of the air in my condo. More importantly - I noticed a marked decrease in the normal, every-day nasal and chest congestion I've been experiencing. My coughing has dramatically decreased. Neighbors downstairs burned something quite badly 2 days ago (don't know what it was), but a FOUL odor was wafting up into my kitchen. That dissipated within less than 5 minutes. <---a brand new experience here. It has 3 air intensity levels. The highest level makes the "loudest" fan-like, white noise. When I leave home for the day, I set both purifiers at the highest setting. At home, the large unit in the living room is set to medium. At night, the smaller unit in the bedroom is set to low. I am really liking the low "hush" of white noise it produces. Both units have a blue light that can be dimmed, or not engaged at all. BIGGEST PRO: The quality of my sleep has dramatically improved. CON - can't really think of one. Several reviews here have offered that the sound is loud. I think it's loud only if you're accustomed to total silence at night. I find, with the purifier in the bedroom set to the lowest level, it emits a very low, soft "wooshing" kind of sound which provides a nice "white noise" that's helping me fall asleep. I would definitely recommend this unit to friends. It meets the specifications of what my doctor recommended, and it has made a dramatic difference in the quality of the air I'm breathing. A+++

Excellent for Allergies—Reliable Air Purifier That Really Works
I got this Honeywell HPA200 HEPA air purifier for my grandmother’s room because she struggles with a lot of allergies. Right away, it made a big difference. The filter catches a ton of dust and allergens, it would get visibly dirty pretty quickly, which really shows how much it’s pulling out of the air. It’s been running strong for years now and still works just as well as the day she got it. You do have to remember to replace the filters regularly to keep it working its best, but that’s true for any air purifier. This really helped her breathe easier and sneeze less, so I’d say it’s definitely worth the investment if you or someone in your family is sensitive to dust, pet dander, or airborne allergens. I use a different (Levoit) purifier for my own room and can confirm that these larger HEPA units make a big difference for air quality and comfort. If you’re looking for something to cut down on dust and allergens and improve the air quality in a larger room, this Honeywell purifier is a great choice. It’s reliable, effective, and definitely helps allergy sufferers breathe easier.

You think your air quality is ok...until you see what this thing catches & filters. Wow!
Sending your firstborn off to college in the midst of a global pandemic is kinda scary. To soothe your own nerves you think "Hmm if I buy him an air purifier for his dorm room maybe, just maybe it will capture some of those rogue air particles which might cause him discomfort (allergies) or harm (illness)." Of course the teen gives you the eyeroll when hearing about the idea. Parents of teens, *you know that look. "I don't need an air purifier!" insists he. I buy it anyway. I tell him it will make a great white noise machine. He rolls his eyes at me again. But, it makes it into the fully stuffed car as we get ready to roll on down the highway to get to the campus of higher learning. Pretty sure he was just humoring me as he packed it but hey, whatever it takes. I take no chances. *I* set it up in his teeny tiny dorm room (with which he will share with a roommate). Figured that while he might unplug it and shove it under the bed as soon as I leave, I at least gave it a shot. A few weeks go by before I happen to bring up the topic of "Hey, by the way, how's that air purifier working for you?" He says, "You were right (I try not to fall over hearing those rarely before uttered words). It makes a great white noise machine. We barely notice it on anymore." :::Victory dance on my end of the phone::: Before he's getting ready to come home for Thanksgiving, he happens to mention "Hey there's a red 'check filter' light that lit up on the machine. What am I supposed to do with this? It still seems to be working completely fine." Since he's going to be home for 7+ weeks (more pandemic disruption) before Spring semester starts up again, I just tell him to bring the whole machine home and we'll deal with it over break. Home comes the lad with his machine. We casually open it up to check the filter and "OMG!!!" Uh yes. This machine works and apparently works very well!! Mind you, I personally had installed the brand new and spiffy clean filter prior to sending it off to school. The dorm room was very tiny and was in fact pretty clean when we arrived. The boys chose not to use a rug in the room so it's not like there was "carpet fluff" to errantly fly around the room. They're both the studious, pretty overall clean guys who really couldn't do much to create dirt in the room as there were all kinds of pandemic guidelines/restrictions in place. But THIS (see photo) is what the machine captured between the late August & mid November! Pretty disgusting to see but also pretty darn awesome to see how well the machine worked. And the college lad? No more eye rolling when it comes to the mention of an air purifier. He is now completely sold on it. He recently came home for the summer & while most everything else from his dorm room got tossed into a corner of the basement not to resurface again until the trek back down to campus in August, I noticed that the air purifier (with a nice fresh & clean filter) is carefully set up in his bedroom & running 24/7. Catching any wayward dust particles....and serving as a good white noise machine. Buy this machine. It works. Pictures don't lie. I shared this pix on a college parents' message board. LOL Too bad I couldn't get commission on the ensuing sales because I can tell you, that a whole bunch of parents rushed to order one of these for their kids' dorm rooms after seeing the picture I took. I myself ordered another one (different size...larger) to place in our basement living area. And will be looking to order another one for our bedroom. The teen's not the only one sold on this machine. I am too!

Great for a Good Nights Sleep
My spouse and I have gotten used to an air filter in our bedroom and after 10 years of sleeping with one turned on, we find it difficult to sleep if it is too quiet. On the lowest setting this one is quiet. We both like it set to the #2 “General Clean” speed setting. There are 4 speeds with each getting progressively louder. If it is particularity loud outside due to traffic, neighbors or dogs, we find we can still sleep with the #3 setting. The fan and air noise is pleasant and actually sounds better than our last aging ThermaTru filter. I like that I can place it against the wall and it still circulates thru out the room very well. The air very much cleaner with the filter running. I ordered the version that comes with an extra 2pk of HEPA filters. It saves you approx $5 as compared to purchasing them separately. Just get the filter alone version if that is what you want to spend at this time. You will have to order another filter anyway as for some weird reason they are selling you a 2pk add-on when in fact you will need 3 filters to change them all. I will probably purchase 2 more 2pks and then I will have 6 extra filters that will work for 2 complete changes. They are $33 currently for a 2 pk. So figure on spending approx $50 every year or so on filter changes. The pre filter is also a bundle option. It doesn’t seem to save you any money by doing so. It is currently around $9. I wondered why there are 3 same size filters in this machine and then saw that these filters fit many different sizes and models of air purifiers that Honeywell makes. So they can just manufacture one size of HEPA and make different sized air purifiers that hold 1, 2 or 3 filters. I’ve had it for over a week now and am very happy with it. I do wish that a smart filter would come out soon that has user settable controls. It would be great for the filter to coordinate with our alarm clock and turn off in the morning automatically. That would also encourage us to wake up. The filter sound on is such a great sleep inducer. Like wise I wish it would turn on at a preset time to begin filtering the air before bed and have the room ready automatically. That would be great. I do like that you can turn off the Blue Indicator Light! This is a great quality filter from Honeywell. I feel like it is built like a tank and should give us many dependable years of use.

Buenas noches
