OtterBox Symmetry Case for iPhone 12/12 Pro, Black

I had my doubts about this case. I was worried my iPhone would turn into a brick given Otterbox's reputation but I was pleasantly surprised. The case fits perfectly and is not bulky at all. It is textured on the back which gives it a sandstone feeling and it just feels solid. You'd be confident that your phone will be protected if it falls with this case on. I also really like how the camera bump is flush with the case so the XS Max sits flat on a surface. The case also raises the screen a little when placed screen-down which is also a big plus as it protects the screen from scratches.The only downside I have with this case is a lack of compatability with tempered glass screen protectors. I used to have a tempered glass screen protector on my Xs Max, but when I put the phone in this case, the case lifted the protector up slighly and my screen witnessed air-bubbles galore. I guess you could work around this with a thinner-bezzled screen protector but honestly, I am using the phone without a protector with this case and I haven't looked by since.Would highly, highly recommend this case, especially if its on discount but even if it isn't!

This does exactly as you'd hope. I bought a new phone in the summer and was worried about dropping it as I damaged my last phone that way. Since the summer I have dropped my phone twice and this case has saved it! I have dropped it on hard tiles and no damage was caused as the case made my phone bounce and protected it. Case doesnt impede on use of buttons or charging port as others do. Im rather impressed. The only slight thing is I wish it was slightly more bevelled on the back surrounding the camera lenses. The camera lenses on my phone do stick out a bit but luckily when i dropped my phone it landed on the front not the back. I do think the back doesnt provide much protection for the lenses but not willing to test this out

Having purchased Otterbox Commuter series cases for my previous two iPhones, I was disappointed to learn that this range is no longer available in the UK although is obtainable through Amazon.com in the US. Symmetry series does preserve the slim contours of the iPhone Xs Max and offers good protection if dropped but lacks the rubber plugs for the bottom edge sockets that Commuter has, although of course there is no headphone socket to protect now so we are only lacking the lightning socket rubber plug in this case. Having said that, this case in black is very smart (with no Apple logo hole in the back, unlike the Commuter series) and offers the essential protection you need without making it bulky which the Defender series does, as Defender is designed for more heavy-duty requirements. The main difference is that whereas the Commuter series case is supplied in two parts, the Symmetry case is supplied in just the one piece and is therefore simpler to fit. I would always recommend Otterbox cases.

This is a really great case. I’m always dropping my phone on the ground and it never gets any damage, which is the goal!You can see on the inside corners where it has cracked from some of those hard falls, but that shows how well it protected my phone. I’ve had this case on this phone for a year now and it’s never failed me!The two drawbacks are: now that I’ve had it a year, it has turned dark brown. It probably happened sooner and I just didn’t notice, but it’s a bit gross to look at. This happens with ALL clear cases containing that clear material that’s a bit like rubber and is from UV, not dirt. You can see from my pictures that the back and bottom parts of the case are unaffected but the top layer is really brown.The second drawback is that over time the back becomes really visibly scratched. This is to be expected given its purpose but I do wish it was a bit more scratch resistant.Anyway, I’m really happy with the case, and bought a new one after a year as the colour was bothering me. I think a year isn’t bad for a case anyway!Update: it’s now two months after posting this review, and the case is pretty yellow already so for anyone considering a clear case, remember it won’t stay that way for long.

I purchased both the Symmetry as well as the Commuter case in order to compare the two head-on. In the end, I sent the Commuter back. The Symmetry is just that much sleeker, and comparatively offers the exact same level of drop protection. The Symmetry won because:1. its and all in one unit2. the unit appears more seamless3. the Commuter is actually two separable pieces that combine to make the one sturdy case. A rubber inner and a hard outer shell. And while the Commuter offers more protection (has a flip-down/up piece that fully protects the lightening charging port - speakers are still exposed), it didn't feel as comfortable as the Symmetry. And as for that rubber inner, well, I could tell that over time, with taking the case off and on, it would become more and more flimsy, same with the charging port cover.4. the back of the Commuter has a hard suggestive military look to its design, and too many indentations, whereby the Symmetry was just flat and smooth from top to bottom.NB: I'm a tall man with big hands

It’s a very tough case as expected form otterbox, very happy. Pricey compare to others but it’s nothing compare to the price of the phone :)Used from screen protector too, I thought the it will rip the protector off because there’s no space. Surprisingly it was a perfect fit.As you can see I have, made a hole at the bottom for sorts of anchoring and lanyard connection. It’s very tough and has not cracked at all.

I brought this case the minute I got off the phone to network supplier and confirmed I had my brand new IPhone 12 Pro coming in a few days.I buy this type of case with all my new phones and for many years now the Otterbox Symmetry is the only one I have brought and needed it looks great and protects my phone like no other case I have ever had, without a doubt it’s a 5star product and to top it off it looks great and has good colour selection as well what more could u want from a case.

The case feels like it’s good quality, but after a couple of days of using it, I really got annoyed by it. Here’s a few of my issues:It’s very slippy. For a protective case, I would’ve hoped it wouldn’t have tried to slide off every surface I put it on to. I’m lazy, I often drop it on to the counter, but it would slide very easily.It’s very thick. Yes it’s a protective case, but man it adds a lot of bulk. The thickness of the case makes flicking the mute button almost impossible. If you have chunky fingers, you’ll need something to poke through! The other buttons don’t click very satisfyingly either.It’s very hard to remove - The case is very rigid, so you practically have to break the phone out. For cleaning regularly, this is annoying.Oh god the grooves - Why so many grooves?! Every edge has a deep channel running around it. Given I’m sanitising my phone every day when I get back from work, this is so frustrating. The inside is full of grooves, and the plastic material seems to show every greasy fingerprint you leave.Why are the logos so big?! - Big on the back and down the side. Does anybody really need to have Otterbox written on the case so it’s visible from any angle? Nope.Returned and swapped for a case half the price and I’m happy again.
