AcuRite Atomic Alarm Clock with Date, Day of Week and Temperature, Grey

The atomic alarm clock is a great desk accessory that does what it says. It was very easy to set up and the unit is stylish grey. The time numbers are large and it looks just like the pictures on the website. I'm not planning on using it as an alarm clock but for the home office, it's great. This would also be great for the student in your home who needs another clock and be aware of time let alone to remember what day it happens to be.PROS: Very easy to setup, large numbers are easy to read. The alarm function is also easy and loud enough to wake you up.CONS: Not really any cons, but I'm not using this in the bedroom since you need to hit the bar to see this at night. It does have a nice blue light and you can see the numbers in a darkened room.HINT: Insert the batteries correctly and follow the instructions to initially set this up. Don't forget to put the little cloth pull strap underneath the batteries or you'll have a heck of a time getting these out to change them. Although atomic clocks are accurate, these must not be in a windowless room with lots of cement surrounding it. Give it 24 hours to make the "correction" as these are not magic. I have an atomic wall clock so these things will self-adjust for atomic time as well as daylight savings time. This is important if you forget or don't want to set your clocks twice a year. (Of course if you're in Arizona, you wouldn't have to worry about it anyway!) Just follow the directions and you will be happy.NOW THE BEEF: I purchased this through Amazon Marketplace which discounts returned or slightly blemished items. Since this is not going to be a showcase item or a gift, I placed the order from the AMZ Marketplace and saved 25%. However, the IDIOT who returned it used a box cutter to cut the plastic packaging and therefore put a 3" cut mark on the lower front part of the black frame and had a battery stuck inside the battery compartment. The IDIOT did not put the other batteries in the package and taped it up, not even trying to wipe off the finger prints or put this back in the packaging properly. Well, you don't need a box cutter to slash the plastic display box as there are little tabs holding the top shell to the lower shell. It doesn't take someone with a high MENSA score to figure this out, but just some common sense. So if you do decide to return an item, try to do so as if it can be resold. I'm glad and happy that this wasn't damaged and it works just fine. Enjoy!

Great clarity and brightness. Big bold letters. Accurate time. Great price. I enjoy the temperature display.I don’t use the alarm daily but works great and the volume is nice and loud.This is my second one. First one lasted over 10 years!

I was looking for a good, digital display clock for the top of my roll-top desk. This clock really looks nice and functions as advertised. I was hesitant on purchasing it because the reviews were so-so, but after digging for more info on this clock, I found out that the previous version was a two-battery unit while this latest version uses three, which could translate into less battery changeover if the power consumption between the previous and latest versions is the same. A couple of early reviews of this clock mention the display as not being very distinct. It is not an LED display but LCD, which of course is not as bright as LED, and, without the aid of the momentary back light (when snooze bar is pressed) the display on this clock would be difficult to read in the dark, but is otherwise plenty distinct in a living room with minimal lighting. I can easily see this clock's display from the farthest line of sight in my home. That said, I wouldn't use it as a bedside alarm clock, but looks quite nice on a desk or table.I just wanted a good, digital time display with date in a clock for the top of my desk. The size of the unit is what I was looking for as well. Anything larger and your talking wall clocks. If the atomic synchronization does work, then great. If not, no big deal if I don't have to re-set the time more than once a month or so. I will amend this review if necessary.

Love this clock. I have one that 20 years old. Still working great. Just bought this for a backup clock. Don't have to worry when Daylight saving time changes. The clock does it for you

I bought this to replace another one (another brand) that only lasted a few months. However I didn't pay attention to the fact that this one doesn't display: "Morning, afternoon, evening, or night". that is the only drawback as I bought it for a person that gets evenings and mornings confused. I like that it is battery operated and cordless, not cluttering the night stand.

I’ve had one of these clocks, very similar, but it got dropped. They will pick up the time automatically, usually at night. I always sit them near a window to catch the time. I did have a little problem setting this one, and you have to set it for Daylight Savings Time. The readout is fairly large. It does have the temperature, which seems consistent with my other household thermometers. It also has the date. You can set it for Fahrenheit or Celsius. It has to be set initially by you, but then it will pick up the exact time. I think the price was reasonable. It does have an alarm, but I never use that so I don’t know how loud it is. I like it.

The unit functions but not as expected concerning what I consider as its main selling point. After it didn't' sync with the time signal in CO the first night (unit was on my desk adjacent to an east window), I placed it in a CO facing window and it did sync with the CO signal. Unfortunately, upon moving it back to my desk, it would no longer receive the signal. I have had several atomic clocks on my desk that have no issue with receiving the CO signal but this unit from AcuRite seemingly does not contain the technology to compete with similarly priced clocks. I will give the unit another week but if it continues as is, I will return it.Addendum of 7/5/17I value Acurite's below comment and suggestions when commenting on my review, however, the most revealing suggestion is:"For the best possible atomic signal reception, position atomic products with the back side facing Colorado. Placing the unit near a window with the curtains or blinds open may improve reception."The “back side facing Colorado”? Really, and how practical is that? First, placing the clock with the back toward CO eliminates 75% of the areas within a 4 sided house where the clock could be placed. In two words, this is both impractical and irrational. This also informs me that your antenna is either weak or worse, directional as opposed to Omni-directional. As mentioned in my above comments, I have 2 other atomic/weather clocks on my desk from Ambient that receive the CO signal on a daily basis and there is something lacking in your clock’s ability to match that of your competitors.Further, this seems to apply to this model in general as Amazon sent a replacement and it functioned as poorly as the original. I then called Acurite and learned a refund was not possible since the clock was not purchased directly from Acurite. Your company did send a new clock but it would not synchronize with CO at all regardless of its location. I certainly appreciate the efforts put forth and your customer service but perhaps it would be worthwhile to invest a bit more into R&D to improve the clock’s ability to function as advertised.

My roommate drop my clock instead it was broken and threw it out. I was so upset because I had this clock for so many years. It last for such a long time. So I was so happy when I came on Amazon and found this clock again, I did not hesitate to buy it. It’s easy to read always tells me the inside temperature, you just pop batteries on there. I don’t use the alarm clock feature, but the few times I have it’s loud enough to wake you up.

I absolutely love this clock. It's a nice simple design that's large enough to easily read. The extra features are great too; it shows the day and date, ambient temperature as well as a time zone map.

Lo bueno: los números son grandes y luce muy moderno. Lo malo: la temperatura sólo viene en grados Fahrenheit (por lo tanto yo debo hacer la conversión), la alarma suena muy bajito durante sólo un minuto y se apaga sola, así que como despertador no resulta muy útil, por esa razón lo uso en el living como reloj digital de mesa.

Best clock of like products on the market love it . Numbers are nice and large and being atomic no worries about always having the right time

It is the exact size I needed and so easy to set up. It has worked wonderfully well since receiving it. Item arrived early and was well packaged. Just be aware that there are certain places that this clock may not function well in.

Little bit larger than I thought but works great...would definitely recommend!
