I was pleasantly surprised with this thread. First of all, the box is great because it has Velcro dots on the front flap for easy open. The thread spools are larger than I thought they were going to be. The spools have a "snap trap" top for keeping the thread ends secure. You flip the top "lip" up to remove thread then you slip the end of the thread under the flap and snap it shut. SO convenient! The variety of colors covers just about anything you can sew. Someone complained about not enough black or white but you can substitute other colors for white or black, i.e., use deep blue or dark green instead. Also there are several light colors. There are 9 variegated threads; pink, red, purple, lavender, blue, green, orange/yellow, orange/brown, and a multicolored spool. There are 4 pinks, 5 off whites, 1 black, 1 gray, 4 reds, 3 purples, 6 blues, 7 greens and olive, 3 yellows, 3 oranges, 3 browns and a peach. I haven't sewed anything with them yet, but I have used a LOT of thread in my 62 years and I can pretty much judge that this is nice thread. It is made in Mexico, which was a slight disappointment to me because I have been trying to buy American made items. The thread comes from Coats & Clark in Greenville, South Carolina so I figured it was made there. There is a complete range of 342 colors and if I were rich, I would buy them all! I was also surprised with the size of the box. It measures 10 1/2" X 15" X 1 1/2", if you care. It is an excellent storage box. I am very happy with my purchase!

This is a great set for the price, especially if you're building out a thread collection. I'm a new mom, so I haven't had a lot of time to mosey over to the fabric store to pick out some thread. This assortment has a good range of colors, so it allows me to take care of most of my projects. Yes, it does include variegated thread, which isn't the most practical -- I've found good use for it in things I'll need to topstitch anyway, like blankets and burp cloths.

I am an amateur on the sewing machine. Bought this thread set to work on some scarves as Christmas presents for girlfriends and family members. It seemed a little pricey, but I liked the convenience of having so many colors that I didn't have to spend time picking out at the store. (I have two tiny daughters and shopping can be taxing enough as is.) For the most part I've been very satisfied. Works well in my Brother machine, and the colors and selection are fabulous. I do agree with other reviewers that I wish there was more thread per spool. All in all, a fine product for those of us who do basic needle work.

So, I decided to teach myself how to sew. I brought a new brother sewing machine and was looking for good thread that wouldn't snap/break/bleed and after asking around, I decide to buy this.... I have Prime, so it arrived in 2 days via UPS. I love how the thread colors are versatile enough that I found shades that matched perfectly with all of my shirts that I'm hemming [I buy my shirts in tall b/c I like the long length and cut & hem the sleeves to match my arm length.] The thread colors don't bleed/fade [I've already machined washed clothes that I've used the thread on] and are durable/firm! This is NOT your typical cheap 99 cent store thread. There's enough thread that you can fully wrap about 5 or 6 bobbins per color [which is more than enough for me since I don't sew all the time]. It's a great buy and I'm glad that I got it.

My husband bought me an antique sewing basket (folds out like a tackle box) and my thread was horribly old (some of it was my grandmother's !) and weak. I purchased another cheap thread set and it was a nightmare from day one. Hard to thread in to a needle because the texture of the thread was fuzzy and had little substance. I knew I was not going to throw good money away after bad and decided to bite the bullet and buy a high quality multi-purpose assortment of thread for general sewing. This set is it and I am thrilled. I did not think I would find a use for the multi-color variegated thread but then I sewed a flowered piece of fabric and wow ... talk about stealthy thread! This is exactly what I wanted and needed - worth paying the price!

I have lot of random small projects I need to sew so this is a great variety that I can adjust to fit my projects. The quality is equivalent to other Coats & Clark thread I've purchased in store. The spool is at least half the size I would get from individual purchases of thread though. There are 9 multi color thread spools, I've included a picture of those. You'll definitely need to unsnap the "snap trap" to start working. The cardboard box it came in is sturdy enough to store them in.

Great quality, love the range of colours and I like that the packaging can be used to store it because it has the Velcro clear swinging door.

I like the color range and they are good for both machine and hand sewing. I would definitely buy again.

We recently bought a pfaff sewing machine, and needed some high quality thread to go with it. Coats is the standard for good thread. This kit has a very good selection, it's all in a quality organizer, and each spool has a thread lock to keep the thread from running away. Would buy again!

I looked at a lot of different thread sets and am so glad that I chose this one. It's top quality thread that works well in my sewing machine without breaking.
