Waykar 158 Pints Crawl Space Dehumidifier with Remote Control, Dual Duct

I’m extremely impressed with this Waykar dehumidifier. Its a seriously well-built machine. It has a substantial weight to it and honestly feels a little overbuilt—in the best possible way. The construction feels sturdy, durable, and designed to last. I was also really surprised by the packaging. I had seen some other reviews mentioning concerns about units arriving damaged, so I was paying close attention when mine arrived. Thankfully, my unit showed up perfectly safe, secure, and very well packaged. One of my biggest concerns before purchasing was the noise level. Since this is a commercial-grade unit, I was honestly expecting it to be significantly louder than a typical residential dehumidifier. To my surprise, the noise is completely acceptable and much quieter than I anticipated. In fact, I would say it's on par with—or possibly even quieter than—a residential dehumidifier I previously used. The sound was something I was really worried about before buying, but it turned out not to be an issue at all. Performance has been excellent. My basement is naturally very humid being that im in the midwest, but this unit has no problem maintaining my desired RH level. Once I set the humidity where I want it, it does a great job keeping it there. The airflow is also impressive, with strong air intake and output as I showed in my video, and the overall performance has exceeded my expectations. It keeps my very large, unfinished basement easily at the 45% RH I set it to. It also has the pump feature which I didnt think I would need, but it makes funneling the water directly into my sump pit so much easier. The LED control panel is another huge bonus, and I really appreciate the mountable humidity sensor. Having the ability to monitor humidity from a better location is a great feature and adds to the versatility of the unit. The washable filter is also a really nice addition and makes maintenance easier. If I had to nitpick, there are only a couple of things I would love to see in future versions. It would be great if the manufacturer eventually offered a HEPA filter that could be inserted into the unit, but for now I actually have a small furnace filter just sitting where the intake is and I have noticed any loss in CFM performance. I also think it would be fantastic if the control panel and humidity sensor were wireless in a future model, which would make placement and operation even more convenient. Overall, this thing is awesome. It feels exceptionally well made, performs extremely well, keeps my humid basement at the RH level I want, and is much quieter than I expected. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, heavy-duty dehumidifier—even for residential use. If you're looking for something that feels solid, powerful, and built to last, this is definitely worth considering.

We bought this unit in September 2025 for a very humid crawl space in South Carolina, and overall I’ve been impressed. Our home has an ongoing battle with humidity (95°F summers with 80–90% outdoor humidity), and this dehumidifier had no problem pulling large amounts of moisture out of the crawl space. It made a noticeable difference in our home’s overall humidity and comfort. After about a year, we did have an issue where the display/control board failed. Initially I was worried the entire unit had died, but after quite a bit of troubleshooting (multimeter testing, checking communication with the external controller, etc.), it became clear that the compressor and dehumidifier itself were still functioning correctly. Here’s what really impressed me: Waykar customer support actually worked with me instead of simply telling me to replace the unit. They acknowledged the failed display board and agreed to send a replacement under warranty. No product is perfect, and electronics occasionally fail. What matters to me is how a company responds when something goes wrong. In this case, Waykar stood behind the product. Pros: * Excellent moisture removal * Handles a challenging crawl-space environment well * External controller option is very useful * Good warranty support * Solid value for the performance Cons: * Control/display board failed after about a year * Electronics could be more robust Overall, I’d absolutely buy it again. If the replacement holds up, this will remain one of the better investments we’ve made for protecting our home from humidity.

Definitely a good product. It was fairly easy to set up, and works like a charm. It removed about 5 gallons of moisture from my basement, and the span of 48 hours. I did have some trouble with a faulty controller, but as I email customer support, they promised to get a new one out to me as soon as possible. Once the new controller comes in and shows to be working properly, I will update my review to five stars.

I know this unit is labeled for crawl spaces but I'm using it for a basement. It is super quiet and extremely powerful, and honestly the 158 pints capacity is very sufficient for my Northeast US basement that stays about 80% RH all summer, and this unit has zero problem keeping it below 50% RH. The pump or gravity drain into a condensate pump makes it hands off operation. An extra bonus for those with limited floor space, it does have hooks that permit ceiling mounting. We haven't done that yet, but I might in the future just to gain some room. This unit is quite heavy and really does need two people to move it into place like the box says, though a strong person could probably manage as it does come with two handles on the ends of the box. It was well packaged with straps to handle the weight. The instructions do say to let the unit sit for 24 to 48 hours in case it went upside down during shipping. After unboxing and using the handled on the top to remove it from the box we let it sit for the required time before turning it on the first time in order to ensure longevity of the unit. It very quickly brought the humidity down to the required level. Unlike some of the other dehumidifiers, this one only operates on a remote control panel and humidity sensor. So you do have to find a place to have those. Some of the other units for sale have built in control panels and sensors and won't need the wires running in the space. The unit has a washable air filter that wasn't apparent to me upon first unboxing. Nice feature though it really isn't for dust removal as much as protecting the condenser from large items intruding. It would be nice to pair this with an actual pollen/dust removal filter. The 2 year warranty shows a commitment to a quality product. In other prior experiences with Waykar products the customer support has been amazing. Happy to recommend this brand just for the customer service support.

Because on the manual and Waykar support response, this is not really a crawlspace dehumidifier for most crawlspaces. It is much closer to a **basement dehumidifier marketed for crawlspaces**.I bought the Waykar AFD2.0DPM specifically because it is advertised as a **crawlspace dehumidifier**. But before installing it, I read the manual carefully and found a requirement that buyers absolutely need to know about: **Waykar says to maintain a minimum of 39 inches of clearance “above and around” the unit.** The machine itself is roughly 17 inches tall. Add 39 inches above it, and you need about **56 inches, nearly five feet of vertical clearance**. And that’s before raising it off the ground, which many people will reasonably want to do in a crawlspace. If 39 inches is also really required around every side, that creates an enormous clearance area around the machine. At that point, this starts sounding much more like a **basement installation requirement** than a crawlspace installation requirement. I contacted Waykar before installation specifically asking them to clarify what this means. Their first response simply repeated the manual: maintain 39 inches above and around the unit. That did not answer the question. I asked again whether they literally mean 39 inches above the top, 39 inches at the intake, 39 inches at the outlet, 39 inches on the sides, etc. I am still waiting for a specific answer. To their credit, they did clearly answer one question: their **6-inch ventilation duct connects directly to the duct connection without a reducer or adapter.** We’ll see. I wish the rest of the installation guidance were equally clear. I’m not reviewing the actual dehumidifying performance yet because I’m still trying to get definitive installation specifications **before I install it and potentially create a future warranty issue**. Meanwhile, I am eating up my Amazon return window waiting for Waykar to answer basic installation questions. For perspective, I happen to have an unusually tall basement type area in the front of my crawlspace, so I can make this work although it will not end up in the best area for maximum dehumidification. But I also have another newer home with a generous standard crawlspace, a very respectable traditional crawlspace, and there is no way this unit could meet a nearly five-foot vertical clearance requirement there. **Note to Waykar:** if you are selling this as a crawlspace dehumidifier, please clearly explain exactly what the 39-inch clearance requirement means. If nearly five feet of vertical space is truly required, that needs to be stated prominently on the product page before people buy it.

### Update 2 ### Received my replacement unit within 5 days of my requesting same. Waykar Customer service kept me informed of the process every step of the way and shipment arrived right on schedule. Unit I received was brand new with a manufacturing date of March 2022. Even this was above and beyond what I expected. I thought I would have received a refurbished unit and not a brand new one. I was able to simply disconnect the cables and duct work from my old unit and put the new one in its place; and once power was turned on it took only a couple hours to be down to my desired RH setting. Unit has been working flawlessly to keep my crawl space dry once again. Thank you Waykar customer service for all your help. ***Update: After working perfectly at keeping my crawlspace dry for 20 months the unit has had issues with frost buildup at the air intake. Upon contacting Waykar customer service and explaining the problem I was experiencing, they responded overnight and requested I perform a sequence of events and take pictures to help them determine what the problem may be. Upon completing this task and provided them the information they, once again, responded overnight and offered me several options to repair/replace my defective unit. I was very happy with how quickly and congenially their customer service helped me with addressing this issue and look forward to a quick turnaround on my replacement. I would still recommend this Waykar product to anyone who is looking to combat moisture in there crawlspace. ************ The thing that sold me on this unit was the large capacity and excellent price. The specs for this unit was much higher that other manufacturers costing hundreds more. The unit arrive quickly (Amazon Prime) and in good condition. This unit was replacing another dehumidifier from another manufacturer from 5 years ago in our crawl space. Some of the big differences I liked about this new unit was the remote control panel, remote humidity sensor, and the ability to use flexible duct work to redirect the exhaust side of the dehumidifier. THe installation was relatively simple with the only effort required to remove the old unit and lift the new unit up on the mounting bracket to hang it from the floor joists under the house. With the 10M remote cable I was able to run it out of the crawlspace and onto a inside wall of the Garage for easy monitoring. The old unit was installed a good 20 ft under the house from the crawlspace entrance and had no way of knowing if it was working or not. I really liked hanging the remote humidity sensor away from the unit more close to the middle of the crawlspace. THe only additional item purchased was a 20ft 6 inch flexible duct that I connected to the exhaust on the unit and had the discharge go further back into the crawlspace, which in my opinion made for much better airflow to remove more moisture in the crawlspace. I set the humidity level at 45% and check the control panel on a regular basis, since it is easily accessible from my garage, and I have seen the level rise to as much as 48% and within a short period of time lower down to 43%. On average it fluctuates around 45% as I would have expected. So, all in all the unit performs as advertised and I would recommend to anyone needing a crawlspace dehumidifier.

Well built product for the cheap price. Need more time to truly test, but so far it’s removing moisture from our new home. If it dies, I’m buying AprilAire unit next… install was straightforward by my wife & I.

Brief summary: Humidity bad. Waykar good. Long winded version: I’ve been running a Waykar upright dehumidifier in my workshop for three years now. I’m down near the Gulf coast and the humidity stands outside the door waiting to punch you in the face and kick your teeth in as soon as you step outside. Unfortunately, it also causes steel to rust. A lot. Badly. And I have way too much money invested in tools and old Land Cruisers to allow that thief to corrode my stuff. Hence the dehumidifier…sorry, I got a bit distracted there. Anyway, after three years of continuous operation the poor thing quit dehumidifying. It still runs and all, but it quit drawing out water so I contacted Waykar customer service via email. They responded very quickly, asked some questions, had me run some tests to troubleshoot, and ultimately determined that it was low on refrigerant. Unfortunately, most small fridges and dehumidifiers are not designed for servicing because the service would cost half as much as the unit, so it’s pointless. However, Waykar recommended this slightly smaller unit so I went to Amazon and snagged one. I know, you’re wondering why you’re bothering to read such a rambling review. I apologize. Some shipping damage but it’s a work piece, not a show piece, so I figured I’d see if it works before going to all the effort to return and exchange. Zero problems! The unit runs perfectly and within 3 minutes had dropped humidity by 1% in a 3600 sq ft shop. The shop is pretty well sealed with two large overhead fans to keep air moving. Within 10 minutes it was down by 3% and in 15 minutes down from 31% to 26% where it automatically kicked off (my setting). LIKES: Dude. Super easy to use. The operating manual makes sense, is well written and covers everything, but the controls are intuitive. Quiet - now it’s not silent by any means, and I can hear that it’s running when I’m across the shop from it, but it’s not loud. You can have a conversation directly beside this thing without raising your voice. I’m also a biggo fan of the fact that it has both a continuous gravity drain and an automatic pump drain if you’re using it under a house. We don’t have basements in Texas, but the feature is cool. And finally, the gravity drain port is same size as the inside of a standard garden hose. I cut the end off an old hose, pushed the cut end over that drain port and routed the other end to a bulkhead fitting through the shop wall so it can drain outside and never have to touch it again. I like. In case you couldn’t tell.

We purchased this Waykar dehumidifier in September 2021. The unit received was in immaculate condition and has always worked well, keeping our basement dry and odor free. Must say that the device does not contain a water tank which makes it very compact. The air filter is easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or under water. To get it working, simply press the start function then set the desired humidity level on the touchscreen and you're done! really easy to use. This dehumidifier is mostly designed to be connected to an existing home ventilation system or can be used as is without any problem like in our basement. I should mention that a few days ago the device started showing signs of frost on the heatsink. So we contacted Waykar and Bonnie from customer service got back to us right away. Customer support is fast, efficient and above expectations. When registered within 14 days of purchase, the warranty increases from 1 year to two years. We have no hesitation in recommending this product.

I purchased this unit about a year ago. The unit is solidly build with a metal frame and metal sides. Compared to my older floor based dehumidifier this unit throws a great deal of air, making it ideal in large room or crawl spaces. The unit is meant to hang from the ceiling so I just went to a big box store and purchased some threaded rod and hung it from the rafters. It worked great and you could easily make it perfectly level. The unit came with the humidity sensor on a long cord and the control unit on a long cord. At some point I will mount the control panel outside my crawl space but for now i just leave on top of the unit. After about 11 months I has some technical issues and support, while over email, was very good. They asked detail questions and provided detail instructions on how to resolve which included pictures and at one point even a video. I am still very please with my purchase.

Our Wakar 155 pint dehumidifier effectively has maintained our 2000 sq. ft. crawlspace for over a year now, to become a dry and comfortable space; we previously had some mould issues and they are now completely gone! Quiet, effective and at a great value! Kirk Dewar

Purchased this product and it looks well-built. It worked great for a few months, however, it started to freeze up. I contacted Waykar Customer Service and explained my issues. They reviewed the problem, made some suggestions and made things right. The system is up, running again and working as it should drying out my crawl space. Excellent Customer Service and a great product. This company stands behind its product.

I bought this dehumidifier for my 1000 sq./ft. crawlspace and it has no problem keeping the humidity at 50-55%. It's been running 24/7 since 2021. I had an E2 error with a sensor but Waykar support was fast to respond and had no issue sending me out a replacement sensor. All and all really happy with this dehumidifier and Waykar support.
