Victor M310S Tin Cat Multi-Catch Live Mouse Trap - Indoor and Outdoor Humane Catch and Release

I live on a farm, and have a chicken coop where chicken feed is readily available to the chickens 24/7. Unfortunately, this means that chicken feed is also available to mice 24/7. Because the chickens live in an older barn, there is no way to block the entrance of mice. No matter what I do -- or how clean I keep the chicken coop -- large numbers of mice WILL migrate into the coop from the surrounding fields. Fortunately they roam the coop at night AFTER the hens go to sleep on their roosts, so at least the chickens and the mice almost never meet up with one another. Our barn cat - and a few neighborhood strays - do their part to keep the mouse population down. But when you have open food on tap 24/7 in an old barn that is out in a rural field, there is only so much that barn cats can do. So we finally bought our first Tin Cat about a month ago. That thing really WORKS! We are drawing 15 to 25 mice into it every night, and we're beginning to see a significant drop in the amount of chicken feed we're putting out each day. I notice that some here suggest trapping the mice and then releasing them LIVE. I suggest to you that those folks do not live on a working farm in a rural area. And they are not trying to raise a flock of chickens in a healthy and clean environment. Let them continue to release their captive mice live -- but I do not intend do that. We have too many live mice already living in the fertile fields that surround the old barn. Where do you think the mice are coming from in the first place? Instead, I kill the mice and then dispose of them. I have an old 8 in. by 13 in. by 3 in. deep metal cake pan -- perfect size to place the Tin Cat in after I retrieve it from the barn in the morning. I fill the cake pan with water, and then place the mouse filled trap in that pan for about 10 minutes. Obviously I do not open the metal box before dropping it in the pan of water. When I come back 10 minutes later, I pull the Tin Cat trap out of the water, drain it, carefully open the metal box up, and empty the now drowned mice into a plastic garbage bag. I wear disposable latex gloves as I do this, needless to say, and dispose of the dirty gloves in the same bag before I seal it up. After cleaning and re-baiting, I put the Tin Cat back into the barn so that it is available after dark to catch another batch of mice. The Tin Cat has worked so well that we are already seeing a significant drop in the amount of chicken feed that we're having to put out each day. And it has worked so well that tonight, I just ordered two more of the Tin Cats from amazon. The thing I appreciate most about these metal mouse traps - above and beyond the fact that the things just work really well -- is the fact that they are perfectly safe for use around my chickens. The chickens don't seem to pay attention to the little metal boxes at all. But if they were to, there is no way that they could open the box, or get access to the mice that might be trapped inside the box. The Tin Cat is safe around lively, playful chickens, barn cats, and just about any other farm animals or family pets. I'd give the Tin Cat more stars, but amazon limits me to just 5.

These live catch traps with a little bait and properly placed are fantastic at catching multiple rodents. Works best when kept fairly clean. I have several and use them outside to catch critters before they invade my country home. I would buy them again, and I will.

This trap does not work. This mouse trap is simply ill designed. After catching several mice with the plastic cube type mouse trap (Mouse Cube I think is the brand) I thought I would try this one. It failed completely. I think the problem is the design. The mouse must walk up a ramp to get into the trap. The ramp is made out of tin, like the rest of the trap, and is extremely stiff. This ramps does not pivot or otherwise swing up or down. The weight of the mouse has to force the tin ramp down or it can’t get in. The opening where the ramp comes closest to the top is extremely small and I don’t think the mouse can get past it unless the ramp moves, but it is too stiff to do that. Another flaw is you can’t see what is in the trap without picking it up and look through the side slots. There are no slots on top. The top does not snap shut, it merely closes without any latch or friction mechanism to keep it shut. I put a rock on top of it so the mouse couldn’t push it open. The top isn’t so heavy that a mouse couldn’t push it up. The instructions are all but worthless. Basically its open trap, put in bate, close trap. For bate I used peanut butter on a Ritz cracker. This has never failed in the past, so I think the failure this time can be attributed to the mouse trap. This is an expensive trap, but the cost of an item that fails to work is more than the price paid. The costs will include shipping, the time to discover the trap has failed, and the cost of a new trap. AD2

The Tin Cat is a simple classic humane trap that works well. The large container allows for easily placed bait and adequate space for your trapped critter until you relocate them. One note- the weight and force required for a rodent to enter the trap doesn't work well for baby mice (they are just too small). These are easy to clean - we pop ours open and into the dishwasher to remove peanut butter remnants.

This Humane Mouse Trap is well made, inexpensive and appears to be a good idea. I baited it with both whole almonds, which my mice can't resist and also peanut butter. It's been set for several months and has yet to be entered once, as evidenced by the untouched bait. It is in a highly trafficked mouse route. I have caught 32 mice in the meantime in my single mouse small wire cage trap placed nearby. Now, there are different mice in different areas with different behaviors. My mice are White Footed Deer Mice, who are deep woods dwelling mice. They are of average size and extremely energetic and aerobic. They explore and get into literally everything. But, they have no interest in entering this trap. I can not explain why. They like holes and this trap has two. They literally have to climb over it to get around. I suspect there are many mice that can't resist it. I really wish it would work for my mice. I have to sometimes get up several times a night to empty my box trap into a bucket to be later transported to a location about eight miles away. They will come back within a week from a mile or less. Yes, I proved this with a dab of red paint on their tails. I hope I have found their last open entry hole, and will be mouse free for a time until they find, or make another. There are thousands in my woods. I can't get above three stars, as it doesn't work at all for me. But, I like the design idea, and I'm sure other less crafty mice will like it, as evidenced by many positive accolades. It may well be worth a try for you.

I purchased 3. I had this great idea that I was going to catch a naughty little mouse under my broken freezer and send him on his way at the park for the new year. I caught the little deer mouse that I named François.. thanking, I solve the problem. Needless to say 97 of his brothers and sisters have joined him with the catch and release method at the park. They come in, where, in my attic that I have to get fixed, go right down the vent under my fridge and right into the Magic Mouse box.. these are the best humane traps I’m ever worked with the mice are relaxed. I put a little piece of biodegradable tissue and a couple peanuts in the box. Really an excellent mechanism works great if it’s not working for people, they obviously are not setting up the trap correctly or not putting the right food in the trap. I don't usually write reviews, but I received this trap and in one night it caught FIFTEEN (yes, 15) mice in my chicken coop. I was flabbergasted! I have been looking for a trap I could use in my chicken coop that would not hurt the chickens, and would not have issues with the wood shavings getting inside. Even though the shavings still clogged up the mechanisms, it still caught and held 15 mice so I can't complain. It does not come with any scent or lure which is fine for me; I ended up drizzling peanut butter along the floor of the trap and sprinkling chicken scratch/seeds on it. Great mouse attractant! My only complaint was cleaning it out of the wood shavings was quite difficult. They all got stuck in the flipper mechanism and it took a long time using a stick to flip it back and forth and a stream of water to get it all out so it could work properly again. When I was shopping around I saw a different brand who made the same type of trap and they had the doorways/mechanism bit removable for easy cleaning and I think that would have made it super easy. But for the price, I really can't complain much. So if you're like me and need a trap that's safe for chickens/dogs/larger critters, but won't get clogged up with wood shavings or straw too much to not work, definitely try this trap. Very pleased!

For some reason I've struggled for two weeks to get the mice in my house to actually get into the trap until yesterday, when I suddenly caught four at once. Being able to catch multiple mice at once is such an amazing benefit, I didn't even expect to catch multiple at once. I thought I might catch one every now and then. However, I would definitely say that there needs to be some way to actually see into the trap as trying to peek in through the tiny gaps in the sides with a flashlight does not work well. You certainly can't open it to check as a mouse would be able to slip out. Also be aware that for some reason the mice might attack each other in the trap as that is what happened to me and unfortunately they all killed each other. So quick releases might be needed once you notice they've been caught. I thought they'd be fine until the morning but perhaps the cold and the crowded space made them aggressive. Which leads to my one other complaint, cleaning the trap is a pain around and under the two entrances. While most trappings won't be dealing with my case of ripped fur and blood everywhere, there will be mouse poop all over the inside of the trap, especially if you catch multiple. Update five months later: I checked the trap at 3 am after a month or two of catching nothing to find two mice caught in the trap and one in the ramp (which I then blocked in before it could escape and forced into the trap). As I was struggling to look through the tiny gaps to try and count how many were inside the trap, I saw the blur of one pop out of the opposite side I was inspecting and run off. So somehow it pushed the ramp down from inside the trap and freed itself. The second one did the same shortly after as I was looking at where the escaped mouse went. I didn't know there was a third one still inside the ramp when I opened it to try and inspect the ramps to see what the problem was so it escaped, which obviously isn't a problem considering they can just get back out the entrance anyways. I don't see anything broken regarding the ramps or closing mechanisms so I can only assume the mice are able to somehow push the ramps back down to get back out of the trap. I was suspicious that this was happening as the food I had been placing inside the trap had been disappearing with no mice trapped. So the trap is useful for a while but then the mice simply know how to get back out and make the trap useless.

On en a bien attrapé une quinzaine en quelques jours. Elles étaient devenues très effrontées et allaient directement dans la volière de mes oiseaux et commençaient à grimper le long des barreaux pour grignoter les graines en hauteur. Le plus simple a été de mettre le piège directement dans la volière....tout à veillant à faire place nette autour, pour qu'elles soient plus intéressées par le contenu du piège que par les graines éparses. Pour augmenter l'efficacité, coincer un tout petit morceau de gâteau juste au bout de la trappe d'accès et parsemer de sucre ou céréales la trappe d'accès (par les petits trous du haut). Ce qui fait qu'elles avancent dans la trappe sans se rendre compte qu'elles se font coincer. Certaines sont très malignes.... il y en a une qui a réussi à ressortir, je ne sais pas trop comment, une autre s'était cachée sous la trappe d'accès, ce qui fait que j'ai cru que la boîte était vide et quand j'ai ouvert pour vérifier quand même, elle a bondi dans le jardin... Il m'en reste encore une à attraper, si c'est l'une de celles qui a déjà expérimenté le piège, cela va être plus difficile. Je renouvelle l'appât tous les jours pour qu'il soit frais (gâteau, céréales, chocolat, etc...). En conclusion, c'est très propre et il n'y a pas de mise à mort. Sûrement du stress pour elles, mais dès que je vois qu'il y en a une, je ne tarde pas pour la relâcher.

Dopo aver provato le trappole a gabbietta classiche, che non hanno funzionato, con questa mi sono trovata benissimo. Ho già catturato e liberato vivi 5 topini. E' importante posizionare la trappola con le due aperture (una per lato) vicine al muro, in un punto che sia sulla loro traiettoria. Dentro ho messo un biscotto doppio farcito di cioccolata. Ci si accorge della cattura perchè il topo a tratti corre freneticamente avanti e indietro andando a sbattere sulle due bascule agli ingressi, quindi si sente tac tac tac, come un metronomo. Ma comunque è possibile vedere dentro dalle fessure che si vedono in foto, senza dover aprire la trappola. Comodo anche da "eliminare", si porta la scatola fuori senza rischio di venire a contatto col topo, io la appoggio per terra, apro il coperchio, e lui se ne va tranquillamente nella direzione opposta a me.

had a bad mouse infestation in the chicken shed. after numerous attempts with home made bucket traps and snap traps catching absolutely nothing... i purchased this trap. no more worries about chickens getting caught in the snap traps or knocking over the bucket trap. this trap caught all the mice within a week!. Nice and easy to open up and drop the mice into a bucket of water (or set them free away from home if you prefer) and no escapees either. Would definitely recommend this trap for anyone to use anywhere.

Solo quiero compartir que soy muy feliz con esta trampa. Yo creo que cumple con la función de trampa humanitaria. Ya que no es como otras que hacen súper ruido y son súper malvadas. Esta me gustó la verdad yo no esperaba que atrapara nada. Me llego ayer así que solo la saqué del empaque y naaa más tarde pongo el cebo y la dejé olvidada pegada a la pared y hoy al despertar cual fue mi sorpresa? Ya estaba habitada por un ratón. Me siento más tranquila porque había tenido que usar de esas trampas feas de pegamento y se que era horrible para el ratón y para mi. Esta es una alternativa muy buena tanto para ellos como para uno.
