Hisense Sound Bar Adds to the Audio Experience
Excellent compact sound bar that exceeds the audio quality provided by the TV! Include a built in subwoofer. Highly recommend for ease of setup, cost, and sound quality.

Not bad, not great, affordable
This will do the trick, bass and sound quality is mid but this product was designed to be affordable and still push decent quality, which it meets in my opinion. I also have the Vizio V series 5.1, which is the competitor and slightly cheaper. The Vizio is hands down better. It surpasses this Hisense HS5100 in all aspects; treble/mid/bass/equalizer/subwoofer level adjustment. The HS5100 does not have a function for adjusting the subwoofer’s level, instead, it has the standard bass (and treble) adjustment and an option to turn Bass Boost on/off. I’ve tested both and the Vizio is noticeably better. If you’re going to spend $200 or less on a soundbar 5.1 system, I would have to recommend exploring Vizio’s lineup. Still, this HS5100 is not bad. I’ve always been a Hisense fan because they push decent products at an affordable price, but this particular HS5100 is one step behind and pricier than Vizio’s V51 (there’s even a newer model of this; Vizio 5.1 SE. Still under $200, probably a banger).

Amazing Value
For the money this thing sounds like a Soundbar kit 4x its price. This thing has great sound dynamics; the subwoofer is deep and accurate, and esthetics wise it looks clean and modern. I couldn't be happier with it. The instructions and set up were very easy to use and as far as connectivity I have a Hisense TV, and it was seamless and easy to use the ARC

Great sound quality
Great sound quality, I just wish there was auto-on. There is auto off if it doesn’t see an input, but I have to turn it on every time I turn the tv on. I also can’t control the volume with my Apple TV remote but then again they never claimed I could. This product works fantastic otherwise and makes my crappy tv sound way better than it should

Pretty Good, one caveat
My 10 year old insignia tv kept giving me "HDMI Errors" and none of the diy remedies worked. I upgraded to a new 2022 Hisense TV with Roku built in to eliminate the HDMI Errors, but the only problem is the new TV has horrible sound. I am not a TV sound snob, but the sound really was terrible. I bought this sound bar hoping to improve the sound and it works great. Huge improvement in sound quality. It was a complete plug and play installation. This goes on when the TV goes on, and this goes off when the TV goes off. I use my TV(Roku) remote as normal. I never even put the batteries in the remote that came with the sound bar. No Need. Only thing different is my TV volume now increases by 5 instead of by 1. So instead of the sound going up 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.... it now goes 5,10,15,20. I am not sure why it does this, but I have not had a problem finding an appropriate sound level. I would recommend for anyone looking to improve the sound of a tv. I bought the 2.1 model for $80. UPDATE: I am lowering my rating. First time I used this at night I realized (which I had not noticed during the day time) there is a bright white light right in the middle of the sound bar shining at you. Obviously I placed this just under my tv, and it was awfully distracting trying to watch tv at night in the dark with a bright white light shining in my face. The light is behind the metal grill, which does not appear removable, so I had to put black tape over the grill to cover the obnoxious light. I am not as impressed as I originally was.

Great soundbar for a compact space
While most small soundbars are in fact loud, they tend to not have great sound. This is the exception. For its size it not only fills a small room with sound, it has great bass output too. Connectivity is no problem. You have a line in , optical , USB, RCA, Bluetooth, and a HDMI-ARC connection. My only complaint is that there is only one HDMI connection, and there is no display on the unit to show the sound mode, volume level, or connection type. But for the price, asking for those things is a little much anyway. Bottom line, if you have a smaller space and want big sound, this is the sound bar for you.

Unstable and Poor EQ Range
You get what you pay for, so based on that, I guess I should have given it a higher rating. Bought it used for $59.98. It appears it is not made anymore because you can't get used. Hopefully Hisense is in the process of doing better with its 2.1. When connected via HDMI-ARC to TCL TV and using ROKU Ultra, it will occasionally go out of audio sync. If I turn it off and on again, the audio will come back into sync. The sound will sometimes get choppy. Again, if I turn it off and on again, it will go back to being normal. Does not sound better than TV speakers unless I place it in Movie EQ mode, turn up the base, Surr on, and Dim+ maxed out.

This is what good enough sounds like.
I purchased the HS214 to replace my old sound bar, as I'd lost the original remote and had no way to operate it any longer. The draw was the ARC HDMI connection, the face buttons (as opposed to no buttons), and the built-in subwoofer. For reference, I own an onn 65" 4K Roku TV thanks to Black Friday, and a killer gaming PC connected to it. Installing the bar was super easy. I already had the TV on, plugged in the power and HDMI cable, and it woke up on its own. I turned the TV off and it turned off. I don't think it gets much easier. I am able to control the volume with the TV remote. I was also able, with the original remote, to turn the brightness down/off on the LED indicator and to adjust the bass volume relative to the overall volume. Nice... The subwoofer is likely the big question with this bar. I have the settings set to movie, full crank on the subwoofer volume. I can't feel the bass, but I can hear it just fine. It's a 3" speaker with a 1/4" foam flex surround. This is best for people who live in apartments with thin walls (or some similar situation) that want at least some kind of bass to work with. The only drawback I've found is if too much time passes, the bar will shut off on its own, like a sleep function after 10-15 minutes. I can use the original remote or the face buttons to turn it on, or turn the TV off and back on. Not a big deal if you have media constantly running, but I use my TV as a computer monitor, so I'm not always making noise with it. There seems to be no clear way to change this. It's a common function in modern devices, so it is what it is If this were a sound system that you could turn up and blow the windows out of the house, this would be a 5-star review and a 5-star product. This is a 4-star sound bar, and that's exactly what I wanted to purchase. It's not crystal clear, it's not a thunder generator, but for my purposes, it'll do just fine. Definitely sounds better than the stock TV speakers. I am satisfied with my purchase.
