Birds Eye Chili Pods equal a perfect Peri-Peri spice
A great product and an essential ingredient for preparing Peri-Peri Chicken Livers, Peri-Peri Shrimp or an all purpose Peri-Peri sauce. The Birds Eye Chili pods were well-harvested and crushed perfectly in my mortar and pestle and the flavor was full and well-rounded. Used to get the flakes in the store, but product discontinued. Had to search for a replacement and this product is so much better.

Not hot or flavorful
Anyone who knows piri piri knows how hot they are as well as the flavor. These have neither. I gave it two stars because they appear to be actual Birds Eye chilies but not the ones I’m used to from Mozambique. Maybe the seeds will sprout? I assume they are old or the prep required to import them to the US renders them flavorless.

Piri Piri peppers had a lot of broken peppers and dust, but otherwise great product!
Excellent product, thank you! Very different than the Piri Piri peppers that I grow, but great flavor. Normally when I buy dried peppers they are mostly intact with very little "dust" in the bottom. This package did have a lot of broken pieces and dust on the bottom, far more than I have ever seen before. I'll just grind that up into fine powder for my eggs, but it is a little disappointing given the use case I had in mind for these. But this is not a terrible thing, so only removed 1 star. Would have removed 1/2 star but not an option. Heat level is bang on for these peppers.

Foodie here: ab! Wonderful flavour! I've seen some great recipe ideas from Portugal (and elsewhere!) that features the warmth and flavour of piri piri! Will be buying again for sure when we run out of them!

Item is extensively described as being from PORTUGAL and whole pod. What arrived was from UGANDA, basically pulverized into crushed chili flakes and, to top it off, had a best before date within a few months. Don't waste your time on this misrepresented garbage.
