Universal Audio Apollo Solo USB Heritage Edition

I returned the first one because it takes UAD at least 1 business day to reply. Plus, what's so frustrating is I'm following their instructions to the letter; and I researched the install procedures and guidelines BEFORE I purchased the Apollo (and the Volt). At first, the Apollo would not work via USB; I tried two Intel certified cables and returned it after speaking with tech support. Then, frustrated, I returned the first Apollo and purchased a UAD Volt; this time the UAD Software would not recognize the Volt no matter what cable I used. I returned that and purchased a Scarlett Solo that WORKED out the box. Determined to make this work, I purchased a UAD Apollo again! Wow! This is so frustrating! I purchased new USB-C Cables through Anker and Belkin that support high speed USB 3.0 and more. The Belkin cable is Thunderbolt 4 certified as well! The Apollo was not recognized by Windows 11. Yes, I did a clean install of Windows! I wanted to break the Apollo! I'm serious! Terrible experience! I then tried the Anker USB-C to USB-A cables; that worked as far as installing the software. After I rebooted the computer the UAD Console software launched. BUT WINDOWS would not recognize the Apollo. The Console software would not recognize the Apollo. I kept getting USB errors from UAD software. I then tried two other confirmed USB-C to USB-A cables. Still did not work! To recap, at this point, I used the Anker USB-C to USB-A cables to install the software; for some reason, that worked— it's as if there was a partial recognition of the Apollo. Then I had this crazy idea...."Why don't you try the Belkin USB-C to USB-C cable (Thunderbolt 4) again." I plugged the cable in a 5th time....and it WORKED! WOW!!!!!! What the hay man!? When this thing (Apollo) actually works.... it's beautiful. It was worth the frustration to get it to work. It's sad that a company that makes a product this good can't get it to install properly and their support takes ONE BUSINESS DAY to reply. Hope this helps someone.

I bought the Apollo Solo USB for my Windows PC setup, and honestly, this thing is incredible. I’m using it with Yamaha HS5 studio monitors, Sennheiser headphones, a Shure XLR dynamic mic, and Mogami TRS-to-XLR cables from the Apollo to the speakers. The difference was immediate. My speakers completely came to life, way cleaner, fuller, and more detailed than before. The headphone output also sounds fantastic and has plenty of power. Everything feels tighter and more controlled, especially compared to running audio straight from a PC or a basic DAC/amp setup. The build quality feels premium, the volume knob is smooth, and having one clean interface for my speakers, headphones, and XLR mic is exactly what I wanted. The onboard controls are simple once you understand them, and it makes the whole desk setup feel much more professional. Overall, this was a huge upgrade. If you’re using real studio monitors, good headphones, and an XLR mic, the Apollo Solo USB is absolutely worth it.

First of all, If you're using a windows computer, getting this to work will be pretty annoying. The company itself stated that they basically don't care about windows users, so you'll still need a 3rd party audio software like voicemeeter to get it to work with video game comms or OBS for example. The main thing that made me write this review is that I had this Audio interface for just over a year when it randomly, out of nowhere, stopped working. all the lights turn on, it would still connect to my computer, the console software recognizes it and says that it was working as it should, but it wouldn't record anything or output any audio. It was simply a brick. I didn't really use it for recording but instead for everyday tasks like zoom meetings, discord calls, gaming, and listening to music because its headphone output was much much better than the Focusrite Scarlet I had. I contacted the support team and did everything, and I mean EVERYTHING they told me to and in the end, they said I needed to send it in for repair and quoted me........ $200.

I was first introduced to Universal Audio in Hollywood. There is a reason it is used in a majority of music studios throughout the world. Construction, connectivity, reliability, and sonic precision are to name a few.

Previously I own 2 audio interfaces but I never felt this good, Now I am worried that, why I wasted those bucks for those interfaces without spending those bucks in one, for Apollo Solo. From the start you can feel the clarity of the sound. Wow. Yaaaah!!!!!, I know some says installation is big pain, but if you follow instructions correctly and if you purchase the correct SuperSpeed Cable (3.0 or Above), It will work. The product feels and sounds solid. The thing that no video mentions or at least fails to mention is the lack of a USB C 3.1+ cable. This doesn’t not come included. Now if you’re upgrading from a Scarlett solo, that cable will not work as that one is a 2.0 cable, and will not be fast enough. Also this device gets warm pretty fast. It’s not a problem if you’re in an AC room but I recommend finding a solution to have some proper airflow in mind or just power it off when not in use. IF YOU USE DISCORD/VOIP services, this device does not natively support those and UA states they don’t plan to add any support as this is “for professional use only” there are 3rd party apps that help with this but it does add latency. But overall you’re getting what seems to be a solidly built product with the lack of “everyday” use with some iLok management required. This price is pretty steep and if anything do your research. Also das Ding ist Qualität keine Frage aber für diesen Preis nichtmal ein USB-C oder ein USB 3.0 dabei und das finde ich eine unglaublich Frechheit 🤯 wirklich ohne Worte ! Bei dem Preis sollten auch Kabel dabei sein die man nicht verwendet aber der USB ist ein Muss. Punkt Wenn für alles Kabel dabei gewesen wäre gerne 5 Full Sterne und eine Bewertung vom Feinsten. Aber so leider nicht, so gibt es 4 Sterne und so eine Bewertung. Sonst alles perfekt gerät ist nagelneu so wie es aussieht. Software Top, auch die Heritage Edition richtig Top 🔝 Jedemenge Plugins, ich hatte bereits UAD Signature bundle. Deshalb konnte ich noch 8 Plugins so auswählen, zu den die so wieso inklusive sind. Das DSP erlaube teilweise nur ein Plugin, also nicht alle Plugins laufen dann auf DSP. Aber die Precision Plugins sind sehr heftig, denn diese kriegt man alle zusammen in die DSP geladen. Sonst ist es so, wieviel das Plugin brauch im DSP kann man 1 bis einige Plugins laden.

These have my most favourite sound for playback and digital editing a like. Previously Universal desktop units were known to run hot to the touch but these modern units run warm.

Interface perfeita para usar em home studio. Como ela conta com apenas um chip DSP, não será possível utilizar muitos plug-ins numa mixagem, mas a qualidade dos prés, a entrada HiZ, o amplificador de fones e a tecnologia Unison fazem valer a pena o investimento. Utilizava uma Komplete 6 e a Apollo Solo trouxe um salto qualitativo considerável nas minhas gravações.
