So much better definition and bass
These are a perfect fit for my DT770 pro set. The originals were way, way overdue to be replaced, and I'm very glad I did, not just for appearance but for performance. Pros * Perfect fit * Exact same design and materials as the originals * Significantly improved bass response (due to proper cupping, rather than the flat areas that had formed in the old set) * Improved definition (presumably due to proper X-Y and Z positioning relative to my ear canal) * Better comfort * Improved protection for the headphone drivers (I replaced the foam base, not just the surrounds) Cons * Instructions are a bit sparse for replacing the flat foam piece and offer no slick solutions for carefully replacing the cups * No actual cons, specific to these replacements, but see 'Other thoughts' Other thoughts (These thoughts pertain to the DT770 only. If you don't have that set, ignore.) I am not pleased with the manufacturer's suggestion to use a 'flat, dull knife' to lever out the pads. Finger pressure alone is sufficient and will be far less likely to damage the pad. The vinyl isn't very elastic and this only becomes worse over time, so the pads only have about three times they can be removed and thoroughly cleaned, before they start to tear and eventually have to be stitched back together or replaced. There are no instructions on how specifically to remove the surround ring that holds down the flat foam piece. I ended up taking their other suggestion about the flat, dull knife and wished I hadn't. What seems likely to be safest is a very thin but strong, rounded (not just dull) knife blade. In my DT770 set, there's a very fragile cloth piece underneath the foam, and that is ridiculously easy to damage with a pointed knife. Fig. 5 doesn't depict at all the correct approach for the DT770; ignore that. Fig. 3 does (and is in the instructions as such, but just don't get confused).

Transforms DT770 Pro black edition!
I am a musician with mild-to moderate high frequency hearing loss, and I wear hearing devices. This makes choosing headphones more complicated than it might be. I own the black edition of the DT770 Pro with the black vinyl earpads. I never got on with them very well - their sound was too bright, with dominant mid-upper treble which made sounds like cymbals loud and grating, to the detriment of the midrange in particular. As a hearing aid wearer, I found that they also tended to cause feedback in my devices, which was irritating. It occurred to me that the more reflective surface of the vinyl pads might be partly the culprit, so I bought these OEM earpads, which also include a new foam transducer cover. The results were better than I expected - these are now my daily driver headphones! Pros: 1. Much more comfortable than the vinyl pads - I could wear these all day. 2. The new transducer cover considerably improves the sound signature by attenuating the inbuilt treble peak. Now the treble sounds clear and detailed without being too loud, and the whole sound signature is more balanced and musical. 3. No more feedback (not an issue unless you wear hearing devices). Cons: 1. They are a little awkward to install, so be patient. Beyerdynamic recommend heating the fold with a hairdryer, which might indeed make it easier. I managed without that, though.

They seem a little expensive, but now that I've used them for over a week on my DT770 Pro 32 Ohm model I think it was worth it. Pros: -The fabric texture (versus the pleather that came standard) is more supple on my skin and is therefor more comfortable. -They're not as warm as standard pleather. -Sound leakage is still just as negligible as pleather. -The foam feels to be a bit more firm so it doesn't flatten over time causing my ears to touch the driver fabric. -The package also includes two extra pieces of driver fabric. Cons: -The price. -They're quite difficult to put on right out of the package. Their diameter is a few millimeters smaller than the pleather pads, so it takes a bit of forceful stretching to get the pad flaps to wrap around the plastic housing of the ear cups. (That will make more sense once you see them.) I ended up using a "black stick" (google it) to run under the flap all around the circumference of the housing to get them on. If you take this route, you must be careful to not puncture any part of the pad/flap. That being said, the total bill for the headphones and pads was about $200 and I still consider the bill to be justified. I'm in love with the set and I wish I had more reason/opportunity to use them at home instead of just at work.

Fits Custom Game perfectly
The old ear pads were vinyl and peeling leaving black stuff everywhere including my face. Decided to replace them. After some research, found out that these would work for my Custom Game headphones. Installing the second one was easy, the first one took a little trial and error until I worked out the 'method'. All I needed was a thing screwdriver to pop the retaining plastic that holds down the foam (that goes over the speaker) and a old hotel key card. The key card is flimsy enough to get underneath the plastic lip that holds onto the earphone. The key to getting them on is to keep constant pressure of the lip that you get onto the earphone early on when you start work the pad on. After a short period of time, less pressure will be needed. Also note that the earpad will continue to twist in a circle around the earphone almost all the way until the end. This works in your favor. To start, slide the corner of the key card or something similar under the lip that will go onto the earphone. Positioning the earpad slightly above the earphone and push that on. It will be a small amount that is on. You do this in small incremental amounts. Don't start too close to one of the hinges because you will need to rotate the pad and it will get to a point where you cannot near the end. So you want that time to be in the open and not behind the hinges. Once you have it started, keep the earpad over the earphone perfectly aligned as it will when it is on. Keep the pressure on the area you just put on and then slightly twist the pad up so you have a new part to flip on. Then use the key card to get underneath a new part and flip it on the earphone. It is a lever action. Almost like prying off the top of a paint can. The flap of the earpad will come up slightly and use your index finger that is holding the pad in place to push the flipped up part on. Where you push is where the flap meets the earpad. Minor twist up and rinse and repeat. The flap that you are pulling up is pretty tough. Using the keycard, it had rounded edges and was reasonably flexible. I was worried about damaging it at first, but you can test how tough it is on the old pad and that might make you feel a little better. Initially I had a few kinks from doing the techinque above, but I went around the edges and smoothed them out. Now I do not see any. Overall, once I got the groove of how to put it on, the second on took me literally a minutes to get on. The first one took 5x as long as I figured it out. Overall, expensive for what it is, but it is better than the stock vinyl ones in terms off comfort.

Comfortable, works well with the AKG 271 MKII's
The vinyl headphone covers began cracking and the adhesive and foam inserts disintegrating after 4+ years of us with me AGK 271 MKII headphones. These have been great replacements. They're more comfortable than the stock ear muffs and provide a lot of isolation, which is what you're likely looking for when using a closed back set of cans. I've seen other reviews discuss heating them to make them more pliable, but my advice is to go slow, using the cutouts on the headphone molding as your starting position of where to begin working these covers on. With a little (not a lot) of effort they'll fit snuggly, no extra heat required. Happy listening.

MES OREILLES VIVENT!! (compatible Presonus HD7)
