I am just now learning how to cross stitch. I bought a kit, but it did not come with these things. I had so much trouble getting started. Then my mother-in-law told me about these product savers. These have made my project so much easier, due to their durability, I am making more progress each sitting. I think the price was AMAZING for the number of hoops that this comes with and their quality. I love that there are different sizes so I can do more projects in the future and not have to worry about getting more hoops!

I haven't cross stitched in years but suddenly got in the mood to. I found a nice pattern here on Amazon. After it arrived I went looking for my hoops. I could only find a really small and a really large one, of course. :-/ So I went back to Amazon to get hoops. I used bamboo/wooden hoops more than any other kind back when I did needlework more often. I decided to just stick with what I know and ordered these. These are regular hoops...the same kind that have been made for decades. Inexpensive but sturdy, the grain of the wood gives some extra grip on the material. The outer hoop loosens and tightens with a screw, the metal hardware is attached with flat rivets. Measuring the outer diameter of the inner hoop, the sizes are: 5 1/8", 6 1/2", 7 6/8", 9", 10 1/4". (the 6 1/2" is the one I took a photo of, holding my cross stitch fabric) I'm sure sizes vary a little set to set because even though they are mass produced, they would mostly be handmade. They come in a box so you can keep them stored together if you're tidy. I do have a complaint about the set I got...the smallest one's outer hoop has too large of a gap, that means there's only 1/4" of the screw to use. It would be impossible to use with a thick fabric unless you can find a longer screw, but it does work with Aida.

Now I've only recently started with embroidery, so I wanted to make sure I got multiple sizes without spending too much and I was pleasantly surprised and the quality of what I received . Hoops of that quality at my local craft stores would cost at least $3-6 each for those different sizes but I bought this set for barely $10. Great bargain for anyone whether experienced or beginner like me.

This is a great set of bamboo embroidery hoops. They are smooth and hold the fabric tight. I have only one problem. I would like to have more than one of the smallest size hoop, but there's no way to buy an extra one or two. When working on more than one project at a time, or if I want to give a nice hoop to a friend who's beginning to embroider, I don't want to have to buy another set. Also, one thing to get used to is tightening the hoop. This style of hoop requires you to use both hands holding the screw mechanism. If you don't hold the nut at the left side of the screw, twisting on the right side doesn't make the hoop get tighter. This is a minor thing, just something to get used to. The result is a wonderfully tight hoop on which to embroider.
