AK Interactive ultra matte varnish #183

This stuff is pretty good. It's definitely "ultra matte" that's for sure - it has a kind of soft, velvety finish. So, if your project needs that, this will definitely keep it from being too shiny or looking like plastic. Application was pretty easy as well - it dries fairly quickly, so you should make sure that the brushes you use for application are cleaned promptly, but it does also make it so that applying multiple layers isn't a multi-day process.

Where do I begin with what is a mega-positive review?! I just finished using this for the first time not 5 minutes ago. Yes! This works absolutely as advertised. If you paint miniatures and want a no-shine finish, you must buy this. Hint: shake this stuff until your elbow joint inverts. You must get all the particles into the solution evenly. Hint: a little goes a LOOOOOOONG way. 'Nuf said. I cannot posit on durability. I have seen elsewhere warnings to pre-lacquer your mini with another product first, then finish with this. Those reviews mention that this is not strong enough to hold up to constant handling (e.g., boardgames pieces or minis games). Use it! It is amazing!

Incredible varnish for achieving a completely matte finish. Make sure you shake it well before use.

I have been a Testors Dullcote user as my matte varnish brand for years (decades really) I had noticed more recently though, depending on the type of paint/addition I would use, it was leaving more shine than I'd like. It seems to me the old recipe for the matte was changing. I decided to give AK Interactive's Matte varnish a try. It can be used easily through an airbrush, but I like using a brush. After waiting for to dry, I was surprised by how well it worked! Dead flat finish. That was more like the Dullcote for years ago. It really improves the look of my model. With miniatures detail is very small, even a slight sheen of gloss will not allow all the details to be noticed. With a dead flat finish, there is no glare to distract from the colors I've chosen. It just pulls the miniature together more cohesively and is a great benefit to photography as well. AK Interactive is now the only Matte varnish I will use.

This was ordered on the recommendations of several people. I have about 6 different "Matte" clear coats. All are acrylic. None of them were actually matte. They all had either a glossy or semi glossy finish. One of those, made by Rustoleum, was matte. But, it could and would strip paint off of a primed miniature. It also tended to dry so quickly you had to wait to recoat, becuse it would peal up the first layer or become cloudy. This AK Interactive is exactly what I was looking for. It dries as a clear Matte. No shine at all. Perfect for my needs. It does what it claims. I won't have to search for anything else. This is it for me. If you paint Miniatures, this is the stuff. Thank you AK Interactive for doing what so many other companies have failed at.

Amazing matte finish! I'd painted some figures with thin acrylics and they left a gloss sheen. I tried a different brand of matte which was just as glossy as the paint. On a suggestion from a friend, I tried this and what a difference! Knocked all the shine off and gave it beautiful matte finish. Easy to brush or apply by airbrush, well worth the money. Dries quickly and goes a long way.

I needed an absolute matte varnish for the background of a painting I did. I used gold stencils in the background and regular varnishwouldnt cut it. The gold wouldn't pop if it was surrounded by light reflecting varnish. It worked BEAUTIFULLY!

This stuff is wildly matte. I honestly wasn't expecting it. Once sprayed on (no thinning needed at all!) It dries SUPER fast and is so matte it almost gave my Tamiya F15 a soft suede feel. Overall great product, maybe a little pricey. I might be able to get 3 or 4 models out of this. I seem to have gone through almost 1/4 bottle with doing one coat of it.

If it was any more matte it would suck light in! Great coverage, but very thin. Several light coats is most definitely the way to go to avoid runs or pooling. I can’t emphasise just how matte this stuff is, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this is perfect.

Ottimo prodotto. Finitura Opaca e uniforme. Per avere il miglior risultato bisogna stendere il colore uniformemente senza insistere troppo sullo stesso punto, ma fare vari passaggi e, solo se necessario, lasciare asciugare e applicare una seconda mano. Utilizzare con aerografo e diluire con un Thinner per colori acrilici (40/60 oppure 50/50) per dare una consistenza leggermente più acquosa che aiuta la stesura e il controllo del flusso dall'aerografo. Sehr gutes Mittel! Dünnflüssig milchige Farbe härtet aber klar und matt aus. Benutze es für PLA und Resinmodelle die ich mattieren möchte. Meist auf lackierten Flächen (Acryl) oder auf beschichteten Teilen mit mica Pulver. Empfehle es eher dünn und in mehreren Schichten aufzutragen. Trocknet sehr gut und der mattierungseffekt ist super 👍

Je cherchais un vernis vraiment Mat car la plupart de ceux que j'ai testé avaient un légère brillance. Ce vernis est vraiment très mat et conserve les couleurs d'origine Je l'utilise à l'aérographe sans le diluer : Airbrush : buse 0,4 mm, 20 psi. Couches fines, croisées, à 15–20 cm. Mieux vaut 2–3 voiles légers qu’une couche chargée. Séchage : sec au toucher en ~15–30 min ; laissez 24 h pour une résistance optimale avant manipulations ou masquage. Bref j'ai trouvé mon vernis de référence pour mes figurines en résine.
