It is used for testing the salt water fish tank.

I want to test the brackish canal water to see if i can use it for irrigation. will this tester work? I was told to check the salinity of the canal

What does this come with

All you get is the refractometer, case and a small screwdriver for adjusting it. Unless they have added something since we bought ours about a year ago. It will not let me post a picture or I would.

Hi, i bought a calibrating fluid and calibrated my refractometer to sg 1.026 but when i test it on distilled water it reads 1.010. why is that?

According to R Homes Farleys article this is because this refractometer was made to measure pure salt solutions and they don’t have the exact reflective index of sea water that has some additional elements. Therefore calibrating with a solution that matches the reflectivity of seawater at 35ppt is needed and once done it will not measure distilled or Rodi water accurately. But you will have a more accurate measurement for your salt water aquarium.
