1st birthday gift for my son - great wagon!!
My husband and I wanted to get our son a wagon for his first Birthday. I was looking at the plastic ones with the seats, seat belts, cup holders, and everything, but then when my hubby saw this one there was no way we were going to get one of the plastic ones. Since my son is only 14 months old and a little guy I do sometimes wish it had some kind of seat belts or something, but he has learned to hold on and not to stand up when the wagon is moving. We throw a blanket in there for him to sit on to make it a little more comfortable since it is a metal wagon. The wagon itself is awesome! It looks great, love the red color and the wooden rails. It is built of good materials. My husband was able to put it together while keeping an eye on the little guy in the backyard, he said it was easy to assemble. The tires did have a strong chemical smell out of the box as others have reported but it only took a few days to air out and didn't seem to bother my son at all. Our wagon did not arrive damaged as others reported (not a scratch) so we were very happy about that. The wagon rides smooth, even over bumpy terrain (for a wagon). Its pretty comfortable to pull, and turns easy. It is heavy (its metal!) and will fit two little ones comfortably. The best part, our little man just loves his wagon. His eyes light up when we pull it out of the shed for him. He loves to push it around the yard, and he loves to take wagon rides. Rides in the wagon have become part of his evening routine: dinner, wagon, bath, bed. We wanted something special for our 1st baby's first birthday and this was perfect. I'm sure our son will get a lot of use out of it - helping dad around the yard and taking his wagon rides. I'm hoping it lasts him for many years!

Glad I went for the Radio Flyer Wagon
I never had a wagon when I was a kid, so I could hardly wait to get one for my daughter. Now that she is starting to sit up fairly well (6 months), I figured it was a good time to make the purchase. I read lots of reviews for the many wagons that are out there. I quickly realized that a main factor affecting total cost is the quality of the tires included. However, I am extremely happy I ponied-up the money for a model with pneumatic (air-filled) tires. The plastic and solid rubber tires provide a much more jarring, rough ride, while the pneumatic ones glide much more smoothly and are compatible with more types of terrain. Also, it turns out that (for us) the Radio Flyer brand was a great choice. The assembly was straight forward (about 20 minutes... that included having to keep tabs on the baby). We got the model with the metal base and wood railings, and all areas of the wood and metal components are smooth and finished (no sharp edges). The quality seems everything that I would expect from a company with their type of reputation. My only complaint about the wagon (and many others have pointed this out) is that the tires smell like... well... new tires, meaning that until they aired-out sufficiently, the wagon smelled like the showroom at a tire center. For us, this wagon is turning into a surrogate stroller. Our daughter doesn't like being strapped into the stroller, and I was getting frustrated having to choose between pushing a screaming baby up and down the neighborhood or pushing an empty stroller while carrying the baby in my arms (and getting a sore back). Fortunately, she LOVES being carted around in the wagon. We added some padding (pillows/blankets) and now our daughter rolls like she is commanding a chariot. She couldn't be happier sitting their with a little freedom to move around and a toy or two in the wagon with her. The smooth ride on the pneumatic tires also seems to sooth her to sleep, and the wagon makes more a great little portable crib. Another cool thing about the Radio Flyer brand is that it seems anyone who is over 40 years old has nostalgia associated with the company, so it's a great conversation starter for a lot of folks who have a number of happy memories. Very happy with purchase!

High quality, cute, stylish, functional, durable--and I don't even have kids.
My wife is 100lbs, so she really needs something for hauling heavy items that doesn't make her look like a bag lady as she trucks things around in our New York City neighborhood, and with this item she does it with style. I could have gotten her one of those carts that nearly everyone here uses for laundry and grocery shopping, but as an avid cyclist I just couldn't accept the poor quality and durability of them. I almost designed and built my own option, but the Radio Flyer ATW really fit the bill, and sold for cheaper than whatever I might have created otherwise. Best features: Beautifully designed and made. Great paint job. Easy to assemble. Virtually maintainence free. The big tires and solid construction allow you to haul your moderately heavy loads over rough pavement, dirt and rocks, snow and ice. It even looks nice in our living room--where I would never keep one of those crappy folding carts. If you never even polish it--for which I recommend Pedro's Bike Polish--it would eventually look mottled (as I've seen old ones that were left in basements or outdoors without any maintainence) but will still look great, and for years to come. The quality paint will prevent corrosion for all but the heavy-duty user (such as those using it for a garden cart for instance). Despite having no children, we actually enjoy our Radio Flyer very much.

Best Wagon Ever, Beats Plastic Models; GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!
My husband had a wagon as a kid and so did I; we thought that this would be the best gift and experience for any kid! Conducted a lot of research prior to selecting this one, and as many other reviews noted, the features of this wagon are the best in class. A few aspects that largely contributed toward our decision were: (1) we both had this traditional style Radio Flyer (but back in the day the body was made of wood, opposed to its current metal body), (2) the removable wooden side panels (not removable with this version, though; you either screw them on or don't; we chose to only screw on the back for back support), (3) the TIRES were a huge factor! After reading many other reviews, we were able to conclude that the wagon definitely had to be maneuverable on all types of terrain and in all weather conditions. These tires are huge, but not goofy looking like the photo here. (4) The mass amount of reviews from other purchasers moves this wagon significantly ahead of any other model. It might not be as convenient as the plastic bulky wagons with built-in storage compartments and cup holders, but if you really want to, you can purchase those accessories for this model. (5) This wagon can easily fit into the trunk of an SUV or van, or in our case a truck, with no problems. The bottom line is that the kids absolutely love this wagon, and we couldn't be happier with our purchase. We're looking forward to them using it outside once it gets warmer. The CONS (PLEASE READ): The first wagon that we received was missing a few pieces. We wrote to the seller who quickly put another wagon in the mail to us. However, because this item was a Christmas gift, we had to go to a hardware store to pick up some pieces that could hold the wagon together until the replacement arrived. Unfortunately, it also meant that we had to disassemble the first wagon in order to pack and ship it. Our suggestion is that prior to assembly, ensure that all parts and tools are accounted for (and good for you if this is already standard practice). Another note is that the second wagon was not in ideal condition, parts wise. The wooden panels were scratched up and the drilled holes looked like they were drilled by an amateur. This issue was solved by selecting the good pieces from the first wagon and screwing them onto the replacement wagon. However, this is a perfectionist issue and perhaps by other standards, this little flaw of scratches and things wouldn't be as big a deal. Still highly recommend this wagon. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Radio Flyer!!

Do They Make These For Adults?
When I was 3 years old, I had a Radio Flyer wagon that took some major abuse from my friends and I. We constantly rode around in it and it just kept on going. Fast forward 30 years and I started looking for a similar wagon for my 2 year old. I came across this ATV version when I was searching for steel Radio Flyers. While it's not the same wagon, it's definitely been beefed up in all the right ways. The build is fantastic. Strong steel basin attaches to equally strong steel wheel structures. The wood that makes up the rails is high quality (pine, I think) that has a good coat of lacquer on it to protect from the elements. Putting together all the pieces was a bit challenging; but it turned out alright and took about an hour. The wheels are made of tough, dense rubber which should handle just about any debris. RF seems to have improved the safety of their toys too (or I had soft skin as a kid). There are no-pinch hinges and all the wood rails lock in with screws. The grommets that hold on to the wheels are tight and will probably NEVER come off. I had to hammer them on with full sized hammer. The bolts are not exposed and everything that might cause errant scratches is underneath the chassis. There aren't any buckles or straps to keep kids in, but that's not really the type of kid this toy caters to. My only complaint would be from my son: it's too rough-and-tumble (bumpy in his words). When going over sidewalks, there is very little suspension dampening so it's a bit of a butt-buster for small kids. I imagine he will grow out of that as he gets older. Conclusion: There are many wagons out there... there is a reason why Radio Flyer is still around and #1. Excellent build, quality experience. I hope my son buys one for his kids some day. Now if only I can get one in my size.

All Terrain Wagon
We used this wagon when taking our 1 year old to the pumpkin patch this year. It worked perfectly: very sturdy, had room for our son, diaper bag, a pumpkin, etc. rode smoothly over very rough terrain. The wagon fit easily into our compact SUV, a Jeep Patriot. My only concern would be how well the wheels will hold up, since they are plastic, and do not have any sort of bushings or bearings between the wheels and the axles. Also, The wheels are not held on with the red plastic/metal retainers, that are pushed/hammered onto the ends of the axles. I am surprised that since this is an all terrain wagon, cotter pins, or threaded nuts were not used. I guess time will tell. All of the other components of the wagon are of high quality, when compared to the many plastic wagons on the market. The only other thing I would note, would be that when I purchased mine, the picture on Amazon, and Radio Flyer's website, showed ATW (All Terrain Wagon) graphics on the sides of the wood rails. Mine arrived with plain wood rails, no graphics. The instruction manual even showed the ATW graphics on the parts pictures. I called Radio Flyer, assuming that maybe it was a packaging error, but I was told that I must have gotten a relatively recently manufactured one, because they had just stopped putting the graphics on the models. Customer service was very friendly, and explained that there were some accessories that would be coming out that would make the ATW graphics obsolete. They appologized, and told me that they would make sure Amazon received an updated picture for their site, which they changed the next day. We look forward to using this with our son for years to come.

Wonderful, sturdy wagon for old and young alike
When I first saw this item listed on Amazon, I knew I just had to get it for my son. I had one as a child, and I knew my son would love it just as much. I was right! When the item arrived, we couldn't wait to get into the wagon. I did notice there was an extremely strong smell coming from the wheels. so immediately following the building of the wagon, it had to be placed out on the front porch in order to air out, because the smell was so strong. After about a day of being outside in the open air, the smell was mostly gone. This wagon was going to be stored in the garage, so the smell wasn't really a huge issue to us. The wagon exceeded our expectations! It is sturdy, and the larger wheels are amazing over rougher terrain. The wood sides are permanently fixed to the wagon, so they don't come loose and risk losing your load (or your child), which is a comforting feeling. The only downside to storing this outside is the wood. I feel it got damp and now has a slight black mold on it. Nothing a pressure washer couldn't take care of, but I felt the wood would have been more protected than that. It wasn't in the rain, just out in the cold. Besides the wood, this wagon has been amazing for our son, and even for us hauling smaller items across the property from time to time.

Satisfied grandma
Good quality wagon that seems solid and will last for many years. I found the wagon to be close, although not quite, the same quality as my children's wagons from 20+ years ago. I like the wood siding as it assists with her sitting in the wagon on a ride to the park and will help keep all her toys from falling out as well. The sides could easily come off and be used without, if desired. Easy to maneuver, turns well in a small radius. Tires are just what I was expecting but the only issue is the smell-hence the four stars instead of five. I don't know if the smell will fade in time but while putting the wagon together my eyes burned a bit. I had a problem with a part and the customer service was quick to respond and I was pleased with the end result. I highly recommend this wagon over the plastic ones out there. This is a much smoother ride and the wagon will last for years. Like I said earlier, I still have the radio flyer in my garage from my children. I think the best endorsement is to answer if you would buy this again and the answer is yes.
