When you really want to play that funk jam on bass, but generally suck as a bass player and can't control vibrating strings and harmonics, this item is for you. If you only want to be able to engage half of the first fret and feel like fighting mid-song with an obstruction on your first fret, this item is for you. Honestly, I don't want this on my bass all the time, but there are some songs that I really need it and it does what it advertises. It'll control those unwanted harmonics and vibrating strings when you're really getting into the groove. I use this on a Jazz bass with a thinner neck profile. It fits fairly well and I don't have to ratchet it down to get the velcro to latch. But, that's about the maximum size this item will allow without starting to mute the strings you actually want to keep vibrating.

These dampeners are great for guitars, but if you buy them for a bass they’re gonna be too small. They look great and they do the job for a guitar.

At 1st glance looks small. & I started to worry...But Had my Authentic Fret Mute Handy & it looked much heftier/Bigger than these! eventhough there are 2 sizes. they seem like the "Mini" versions of the "real" ones. But upon further review, I realized I would have to test fit them First! Yes, a bit smaller than you'd want. but thanks to the elastic band on it, I managed to get' em on! the bands just need to be 1/2" longer! and would be perfect! I used on a fender Jazz bass neck, 1.5"wide@ the nut, so was rightly concerned. they fit a little snug, but okay. they look cool, but be careful the studs are weakly glued on so after twisting & tugging to get on, I lost a couple, but was able to reattach with some craft glue! Bigger one fits like OG; Small one very tight! I guess it's kind of what to expect from a "made in China" knock off. Pretty Okay, Both worked, & good for the price. Look Cool, much better than an old sock! : P

Like a revelation

I prefer this over the Gruv Gear Fretwraps because the velcro lasts longer, and is cheaper. Easy to install and won't scratch the guitar neck. 5 stars and would buy again.
