This shampoo is awesome!
I’ve been using this shampoo for about a week now, and I am loving it. Approximately one year ago I made the switch to more natural shampoo in an attempt to limit my exposure to chemicals. I started out by making my own recipes I had found on the internet from various health blogs, but never found one that worked for me. I then turned to the no-poo method with baking soda and apple cider vinegar. Contrary to the many positive experiences I read about this method, it actually ended up damaging my hair. From there, I turned to Shea Moisture. Although I like the conditioner from this brand, the shampoo did little for my hair. Left with dry, life-less, and coarse feeling hair, I returned back to my old commercial products. However, even with the return my hair wasn’t improving. I decided to give this shampoo a try, and I am so happy I did. My hair is returning to being silky-soft after just one week of use (I should note I have very long, thick hair). I’ve also noticed a significant decrease in the amount of frizz and a big improvement in shine. The smell is awesome – think tropical breeze- and it lathers up so well. My only complaint about it is that after I rinse it out, it leaves my hair feeling “squeaky” in the shower – don’t know how else to describe it. This bothered me at first, but now that I’m seeing such an improvement in my hair’s health, I could care less. I’m definitely going to be trying other products from this company, including the conditioner.

100% recommend from a curly gal who's been hunting for a decent shampoo for ages
I've been trying out multiple different shampoos and finally landed on this one. I finally found a shampoo that isn't drying or stripping AND doesn't smell bad. I have extremely curly hair and only shampoo once a week. When I do shampoo, it's to GENTLY remove the excess curl cream, curl gel and conditioner that has layered on over the week. Basically it's to give me clean start. With curls, you don't need much to do this- especially when all of your products are conditioning and meant to keep your curls healthy. The curls do start to get too weighted down after awhile though and that's where shampoo comes in. Most shampoos are cruel to curls and create a straw-like feeling, tangles (really bad for curly girls), and hair loss. No matter how good they smell- no one has time for that sort of damage to their hair. This shampoo felt amazing on my curls. I used a half-palm size amount and gently massaged my scalp and allowed the shampoo to move down my hair naturally. When rinsing, my hair felt dry but not "squeaky" or straw-like and once I added conditioner I was shocked to see no extra hair loss during combing. It also smelled pleasant enough. To sum it up, this is my new shampoo for life. It does the job to clean curls without drying or hair loss. 100% recommend.

Frizz be gone- I'm in Air-dry Heaven!!!
I needed a shampoo for clarifying; my scalp is very dry during certain times of the year and the flakes were annoying. I read the reviews and figured, what did I have to lose? The salon shampoo I was using was very expensive, for color-treated hair (which I needed), but I needed a change. I'm plagued with frizzy, tough to manage hair, so I usually just throw it into a ponytail instead of spending over an hour blow drying it, then flat ironing the frizz out. Other reviewers claimed this helped with frizz, while still being sulfate-free and safe for highlights. I used it for the first time last night and paired with the Silk 18 conditioner, also by Maple Holistics. I used a quarter-sized amount for my just-past-shoulder-length hair and followed the directions exactly; lather, leave for 2-3 minutes, rinse, lather again, rinse. To be honest, it freaked me out a bit, because it seemed to kind of "strip" my hair. By the time I rinsed, I could barely move my fingers through my hair near the scalp. In retrospect, it probably cleared all the chemical gunk buildup out, because my hair has now NEVER felt cleaner. I followed up with the conditioner, which is GREAT as well, and allowed my hair to air dry before going to bed with it still damp. I could actually walk out of the house right now with my hair down having done NOTHING else other than wash and let it air dry. I'm a happy customer!!!! In regard to those saying that the company exchanges product for 5-star reviews, that is UNTRUE according to what I see. On the box there is a small, discreet box that says, "Your feedback is valuable. Share it with the world and you could receive a free product!". That's it. I would leave a positive review regardless. This is a great product that does JUST what it claims!

Its just your average shampoo
My hair is naturally oily and dyed red. I didn't have the problem of my hair drying out from this shampoo like other reviewers had. I also read some people say "a little goes a long way", but I didn't experience that either. I use just as much of this shampoo to wash my hair as I ever have with any other shampoo. I deducted a star because it has a very strong odor at first that is a bit unpleasant to me. But once the shampoo is washed out my hair it smells good, I think because the smell isn't super strong anymore. Another thing I noticed was that I'm still losing hair dye to this shampoo even though it's sulfate free. I don't know if that has to do with the brand of dye I'm using (clairol), the color, chemical makeup of the shampoo or what. But I feel like I've lost less red pigmentation in the past with other brands. So, overall, I'd say this is a pretty average shampoo. It doesn't do anything spectacular to your hair. Its not notably soft or anything, just feels clean. It gets the job done. It does keep the oil away. Doesn't really do anything wrong. Probably not the best to use with red hair dye, which is always so sensitive to any kind of shampoo- I think there are just better color friendly brands for sensitive pigments like red. However if your hair is dyed with a stronger holding pigment like brunette or something you're probably fine to use this shampoo

LOVE THIS SHAMPOO! I can't live without it!
This shampoo is AMAZING! I have used sulfate free shampoos in the past and I really liked them. I was having trouble finding sulfate free shampoo in the store, so I looked on Amazon and found this shampoo by Maple Holistics. I decided to try it out and I'M SO GLAD I DID! As with all sulfate free shampoos it takes about a month for your hair to get used to switching from regular shampoo to sulfate free. But it's soo worth the switch and the wait. Please read the directions and use accordingly. It says to apply the shampoo into your hair and let it sit for a few minutes to let it work its magic. You do this twice each time. The first time you wash your hair you really have to work it in and it won't lather much. But once you rinse it out and apply it the second time you get a really nice lather and will be a lot easier to apply. The bottle is small but you only need a little to wash your scalp each time, my bottle has lasted me 3 months and I still have about 1/5 of the bottle left. The great thing about sulfate free shampoo is once your hair gets accustomed to not having all the natural oils stripped out, as it does with regular shampoo, your hair will not be as greasy and you will not have to wash it as often and it will be MUCH healthier. I wash my hair about 1-2 times per week. My favorite thing about this shampoo is I had my hair up one day, did my morning interval workout, got REALLY sweaty and my hair was up the whole rest of the day while I ran my errands. When I went to go wash my hair that evening I was SURE it was going to be super nasty and greasy BUT it wasn't greasy AT ALL!! This BLEW MY MIND!! I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a sulfate free shampoo. It's the best one I have ever used. *Just a note, you WILL need a conditioner after you shampoo your hair. I use my It's a 10 leave in conditioner and the combo is perfect for my hair.

fine, straight hair
I can only give this shampoo 3 stars to reflect my own experience. It is definitely a quality product and clearly it works very well for many people. I have long, fine, straight hair. I have been coloring my hair for 10+ years as I have about 90% gray. In recent months, I have changed my routine to use far fewer cleanser products on my hair. I often use a moisturizing shampoo on its own, and follow up with a leaving in conditioning spray or styling cream. I was attracted to this product because it seemed like it was a standalone moisturizing shampoo with a lot of rich ingredients. The product wasn't quite what I expected. There are a lot of non-natural ingredients in it. Also, although it felt wonderful on my scalp, and left my scamp and hair clean, the first time I used it I did not follow up with a conditioner and my hair was very coarse and difficult to comb out after shampooing. I had to use a lot of detangling spray. The second time I used it, my hair again felt dry and coarse, so I used a lot of conditioner afterwards, and had no problems. Since this product didn't meet my expectations (a standalone conditioning shampoo) I think it's just okay. However it's a very nice shampoo when used with a conditioner

Really lovely
I turned to this shampoo after my keratin treatment/shampoo/conditioner company (Kera Luxe) suddenly went out of business. Another supposedly keratin-safe shampoo my hairdresser gave me to try had sulfates in it and completely stripped all the just-done keratin out of my hair in one shampoo and left it feeling and looking like totally dried out straw I couldn't even comb through. My hairdresser was away on vacation for a few weeks so I was pretty desperate. I also have severe scent sensitivity and many scents, especially anything floral, will trigger a migraine. (Food smells are usually OK.) Finding unscented keratin-safe shampoos is nearly impossible, so I was just hopeful the scent in this wouldn't bother me too much and, luckily, it didn't. This shampoo, combined with Maple Holistics' Silk18 conditioner brought my hair back to soft and smooth--without another keratin treatment and at a lower cost than the KeraLuxe shampoo/conditioner I had to buy at the salon. It really felt like a miracle. Hopefully they'll consider making an unscented version too, for the 10% of the population with scent sensitivity. About every 3rd wash, I use Queen Helene Cholesterol Hot Oil Treatment in conjunction with the Silk18 conditioner and leave both on together under a bathcap for a few minutes with hot water running over the cap. I also use Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil after washing to keep flyaway hairs under control. This combination has worked really well to make my colored, keratin-treated fairly frizzy hair look and feel great without triggering a debilitating headache. I've just ordered a second batch of this, plus some Maple Holistics avocado massage oil and look forward to trying it out. Thanks, Maple Holistics! UPDATE 11/7/16: I had my keratin redone and after a couple of days of letting it sit, I washed with this shampoo. Unfortunately, it seems that the keratin got stripped again as all the silky soft of the keratin is gone and frizz is back. I don't know if this would be true with every keratin treatment, but it definitely was with mine. I'm so sad. I do expect that this would help restore my hair, but now I'm just not sure what to do as I don't have a keratin-safe shampoo that doesn't bother my scent sensitivity. UPDATE 7/10/18: Well, it looks as if it's the HARD WATER that's really the problem in our home. I still use this shampoo and instead have given up on keratin treatments until we get a house or shower water filter. In conjunction with the Silk18 conditioner and argan oil, my hair is in once again in great shape, very silky.
