Hair gel is sort of OK.

Solid hold

It makes my hair more silky and shiny.

Been using Hyper Solid (7) for at least 10 years now. It does what it says. It feels like gel, dries in seconds and does NOT have a glossy / oily look (I do have dry hair). It simply holds your hair EXACTLY the way / style you want it to be and keeps it for hours (till you wash it off). If you live in a humid place, this can give some unpleasant results as it can make your moist hair sticky. As a con, it does make your hair quite dry. So, take a VERY small amount to begin with (say what you can hold on your index finger - tip). Spread it well in your palms (like you use hair-oil) and slowly run through hair. Do not try to 'set' it flat. With very small amount, use a hair dryer and a comb and quickly set it to what style you want. Further, NEVER apply on wet hair. Dry your hair well and then apply (for best results). Avoid applying on scalp. This is the extreme hold version from Gatsby, so do not expect 'glossy' look even though the title says so. It grips the hair, in a dry, rough manner. If you want glossy spikes or something, go with lesser holding power versions, like 4. Remember that it contains chemicals to begin with, so keep the use to a minimum amount and then it can prove to be an excellent product !
