Dunkirk

Amazing movie, well worth watching. Precise, gripping portrayal of survival told with extraordinary restraint. The structure, sound and visuals create relentless tension, and its minimal dialogue makes every moment feel purposeful.

The quality of the DVD is excellent, great sound and picture. I really like this film, the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer gives it a feeling of menace.

Great film

Tense, realistic and full of brilliant performances from a stellar cast. The storytelling style show some scenes more than once from different perspectives, which has the effect of you knowing what is about to happen and urgently willing on the characters who do not yet know the outcome. Fascinating to see it from the land (over one week), the sea (over one day) and the air (over one hour). It's not restful to watch, particularly with the driving rhythm so often present in the soundtrack, but it is engaging and moving without being sensationalist or emotionally melodramatic. Loved it.

My daughter wanted to watch as part of her school work and loved it she really enjoyes history.

Excellent work by Christopher Nolan, the directing and storytelling from different time perspectives is very clever, then it all comes together as the film gathers pace. Soundtrack by Hans Zimmer is exceptional as usual and really adds to the atmosphere of the action on screen. You really feel the desperation of the men on that beach, and recognition of the small boats that answered the call to cross the Channel and help evacuate so many lives.
