My compact umbrella has a diameter of approximately 2 inches. It will fit fine. I would use 2 or 3 to keep umbrella secure.

Would this be appropriate to secure a tripod to molle backpack?

Depends on the size of the tripod, I use mine to secure a gorilla tripod with no problem.

On a toujours besoin d'accrocher quelque chose de plus sur un sac ....

... et ce petit bout d’élastique est parfait pour cela. Je peux accrocher une lampe (plus besoin de la tenir), une veste en transverse sur le sac, un trépied pour l'appareil photo ... bref, j'adapte facilement le rangement et la charge sur un sac tactique. Car oui, le prérequis est d'avoir des emplacement de type MOLLE ... Livraison rapide et sérieuse, rien a redire. C'est déjà mon 2nd pack (Junior marche sur les traces de Papa).
