No, you can not open the bottle because it’s an aerosol can. Once you take the clear top off of it you will need to unlock the spray nozzle by turning it slightly to unlock in order to press the button down to spray.

what is the hottest heat temp I can use and still get max protection?

This product is tested to withstand 450°F. Please also considering choosing the temperate of the tool based on your hair type. Fragile, very fine hair 250-290°F, Fine hair 290-330°F, Medium-Textured hair 330-370°F, Thick 370-410°F and coarse, very thick hair 410°F are standard heat temperature setting recommendations.
