Effortless: Make It Easier to Do What Matters Most Review: Effortless - Wow great and such a motivating book. I really enjoyed the wisdom of doing less but better. I love this and essentialism because it’s simply but also hard to implement especially for as me as “hard work” ethic kind of Person. I am definitely changing mindset even more now to working smart! I will use this knowledge right now by making flash cards and applying it daily. Now I will apply it to make Spanish learning easier and more enjoyable! Review: Challenge Yourself to Think Different - Absolutely love this book. The entire book is filled with great suggestions and ideas that will challenge you to think in new ways. The stories shared throughout the book help support the key concepts. The final chapter is vulnerable and heartbreaking while also challenging and encouraging. One of my favorite quotes from the book... "Perfectionism makes essential projects hard to start, self-doubt makes them hard to finish, and trying to do too much, too fast, makes it hard to sustain momentum." If you are feeling stuck, run-down, discouraged, and/or frustrated among other things then perhaps it's time to consider an alternative path...Perhaps it time to choose "Effortless"...

Exactly what I needed!
Effortless is the exact message I needed at this moment. More and more often It feels like the only answer is to accomplishing the endless responsibilities we all face is to simply power through - to work harder, longer, with more effort. Effortless offers an alternate path by asking the question, "What if this could be easy?" It seems simple, but just that tiny shift in thinking has already changed the way I approach my most important tasks - and it really works. The idea that important tasks don't have to be grueling challenged my current thinking. What I love most are the quick, actionable ideas. Today, I've already paired working out with listening to my favorite podcast. I'm starting a new project this week and instead of being overwhelmed by everything I have to do, I've identified what done looks like and the first action I need to complete. If you want to make your most important tasks easier - you need to read this book.

Hodge Podge
I am not trying to bash this book. I think there are good ideas to chew on, it is enjoyable and easy to read, and there are people who likely could find a lot useful from it. I was personally disappointed by this book though. Essentialism was a helpful book to me, but when I read it years ago I also had not read a lot of self-help/productivity books yet. Now I have "been around the block" and so I found this book to be a hodge-podge of good ideas (I'm not saying that the ideas contained are not good) that I have heard iterations of before. The stories and references were very familiar (Jim Collins, How Will You Measure Your Life, Elon Musk, the list goes on.). I wish this book had felt more like a clear path or system. A curation of the top highest leverage ideas to "achieve effortlessness" - instead of MANY good ideas. I left it feeling like - where would I begin? I wish this book had references that I hadn't already heard (take Malcom Gladwell's books for example. He uses stories you've NEVER heard of before). OR that the author had somehow proven that these systems are working with in his life, or the lives of others. Take people like Dave Ramsey or Marie Kondo (whether you like them or not). They created systems and a path that people can easily follow and see certain results. That is not what this book is. This is like a compilation of a bunch of podcasts. A hodge podge of suggestions that may leave you feeling more down and confused than before you picked it up. I felt this book was a bit ironic in nature.

Just what I needed…
This book was just what I needed. I’ve read Essentialism more than once, and listened to it while exercising as well. Effortless takes Essentialism into the doing realm. One section that stood out was the fresh look at “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” He tied the idea to another book I’ve read about long tails. A long tail doesn’t seem like much, unless you multiply it by a large number. Prevention doesn’t look like much, until you multiply the impact over time. So this is just what I needed… another book to read more than once, and listen to while I’m exercising.

Really enjoyed this book - puts life into perspective and gives you the steer to focus on a smaller number of priorities. Sleep - eat well - forget about getting up at 5am, drinking green juice and meditating!

It took only 2 days for the product to arrive at Portugal. I loved the the author’s 1st book - “Essentialism”, so I have great hopes for this one. I will update my review, once I finalize reading it. 👍🏻
