I ordered a second one 10 minutes after I set this one up.
This isn't our first Vornado product, but it's probably the first we spent more than 30 bucks on. Those smaller, simpler round fans were good for what we used them for. We have an adequate central AC, but it struggles with the living room sometimes on hot sunny days due to a single very large window. It's a reasonably large living room - typical for a mid-sized 70's ranch style home. Put this at one corner, and it's nearly impossible to find a spot in the room you want to be that you can't feel it on max speed and wide dispersal. I'm at the complete other end of the room and loose hairs on my forehead are blowing a bit. It's a constant low but very enjoyable breeze at any position on this far wall, and at most other spots in the room it's only better. I didn't do anthing special with the placement except max out the dispersal and the fan speed, plus eyeball the direction of the vents. At this far end of the room you can hear it on max speed, but not enough to cause you to even raise your voice in conversation. I can comfortably talk in quiet, normal tones with anyone in the room. Again, that's at max speed. If I click the remote two or three times to the left, I can barely hear it from this other side of the room, and the breeze is still noticeable. A couple more clicks and it's only going to be audible in a silent room, plus the breeze is still perceptible. Standing next to it at Max speed it's obviously louder, but still not obnoxious. I probably wouldn't choose to sit next to it most of the time, but if I did it would be tolerable. Very, very quiet for the volume it puts out. If I close the vents to their narrow setting with the fan on max, it's like a stripe of narrow high intensity wind that easily traverses the length of the room. I ran it for about 10 minutes before I ordered another one, to help keep the kitchen temp regulated when cooking big meals. We have inadequate AC in that room also when we use the stove or oven for long periods. It was easy to put together and the controls are simple. The stand was easy to attach and is adequately (if not overly) sturdy. Also, unlike reviews I read of competing products when shopping around, it's got a panel you can remove for cleaning the blades. I have not yet tested the timer function, but it seems unlikely to me that I will find complaint with it. I can't imagine being happier with this fan.

Quieter than most fans, but moves lots of air! Highly recommend!!
I’m writing this review for the model 33 inch and (two) 42 inch models that I use in my living room and open kitchen at the same time.. I purchased the prior 33 inch model approximately seven years ago and it ran fantastic (yet hard to clean/lubricate, etc.) until a month ago (i’ve gone through lots of fans in my life) … These new fans with five speeds are optimal… If you’re like me and like a loud fan when you sleep (I love a good Large box fan on high for the sound when I sleep!),,,,These are not the fans for you as they are not loud at all! But move lots of air… I’m keeping my house at 78° in the heart of Texas and we are very comfortable with these fans running on medium speed settings with ceiling fans too... I will come back later to comment on the now removable screen for cleaning/lubricating.... The remote is extremely directional for it to work but I don’t really have any complaints about it other than that… The construction of the product is nice and light plastic but it seems perfectly durable enough… Came double boxed directly from the manufacturer and was easy to assemble…Highly recommend to anyone that likes Air circulation… And for the other comments regarding vibration sounds - walking up to a fan and re-positioning it with a jiggle solves sound vibrations with floor fans typically (as long as they are properly lubricated—WD-40)

Quiet. Good directed airflow over 15 feet.
Love having the remote. I set the fins for a more direct airflow, rather than wide. It works fine from 15 feet away. The fan blows a significant amount of air on high. I usually run it on the lower 3 speeds while sitting 15 feet away unless I've just come in from outside on a hot day and even then, I'll only run it at higher speeds for 20-30 minutes.

More Cheap Junk
When I first received this fan, it worked great! It was nearly silent, and moved lots of air. However, within two weeks, it started rattling and buzzing, not unlike cheap no-name brands I've had before. I submitted a warranty claim, and about a week later had a replacement unit. Straight out of the box, it buzzed worse than any fan I've ever heard. The fan is very cheaply made, and very fragile, and will likely not survive shipping, unless you get lucky. I thought by buying a brand name, and spending more money, I would get quality. I suppose those days are done. Avoid this junk!

This unit was so impressive I bought another after using the first one
No cluncky oscillation. It circulates air in one large room nicely. It is quiet and in our bedroom which is very quiet normally, this unit has a low "white noise" calming effect. In our "open space" kitchen and den area you can't hear it at all. The air louvers which are adjustable as well as the 3 speeds make this fan the best we ever owned.

Adjust air inlet screws to solve for vibration/rattle on high speed
This is based on my initial unpacking, deployment and tuning of the NGT425. I found that when throttled-up to high speed, there was an annoying vibration/rattle emitted. Taking a medium sized Phillips screwdriver to the air inlet screws and tightening fixed this issue. Of note, I tightened all four to the point they were firm in the plastic, but on further tuning, backed-out the top screw @ 50% (borderline loose) and all the vibrations ceased at high speed. You may need to play with these screws to dial-in your fan accordingly. I’m a longtime Vornado owner and fan (pun alert). Over the years I have found their Kansas-based support to be top notch if you need further assistance; 1-800-234-0604.

This thing is awesome! It MOVES air. not like any junk from Honeywell and such companies that sells "fans" where you feel nothing beyond 2-6 feet. Even the 18in Dewalt high speed fan (which i bought a month ago) (and very very very very noisy) is useless next to this Vornado tower! Yes it is more expensive, but for a useful piece of technology that works, i don't mind! This tower moves air easily up to 25 ft (which i can feel the breeze) at max speed. I personally don't find it noisy, bit less than my mural AC. And the awesome thing about this tower is now my whole house floor is cooled du to the air circulation and it helped cool a bit my basement as well. I also ordered a Vornado 660 and i can't wait to receive it!

Constant squeak, whine and rattling sounds. Does move a lot of air but the cost against comfort is too high. Unusable for night time due to the loud noise. Cheap build quality on both the fan and remote. Returned.

Noisy, rubbed against the outer edge when rotating. Poorly made. Returned.
