hi friend, it doesn't need plug to your phone, it has no relation with your phone. Just need plug it to car adaptor or car usb port, it will work directly. When car acc is on, it will be on; when car acc is off, it will be off, all are auto.

Does the mph speed get its reading from the obd2 or from the gps satellites? How about the accurancy?
