high quality and heavy duty
this is a authorized production version of Martin Knives custom Apparo that sells for hundreds of dollars more. it shares the same heavy duty construction. the handle is thick walled stainless steel. the handle and blade tang are threaded so the blade is actually screwed into the handle with the cross guard acting like a big washer. the the gaps on the inside are filled with epoxy. it is a very heavy duty knife that can be used in confidence. I have had mine for months and it is great. handles all the batoning you can throw at it. heat treat is good and holds a great edge. it did arrive fairly dull and needed to be sharpened and the sheath is very poor quality. i upgraded to a specops combat master size long and it fit great. overall this is one of the best production hollow handled knives ever made.

Survival Knife
I needed a survival knife to add to my collection but I was getting frustrated by the number of either cheap toys or over-priced movie-endorsed relics. Then I found this knife. It was at a price that was acceptable and the quality was outstanding. I was a little skeptical at first, until I recieved it. This is a knife that I will proudly display but I will not be afraid to actually use it. This is one tough knife! Boker Plus Apparo Fixed Blade Knife, Grey

Rambo redone
A serious piece of bad assery! I've had this knife for about 8 months now and it handles all the typical survival and camp chores with ease. The schrade hollows are good, but this one has superior heft and weight. Makes chopping a breeze. Needs a better sheath but other than that, no complaints at all.

Wanted it forever but returned it after finally getting to hold it
I like knives. I like Martin knife designs and hollow-handle designs in general. Lots of folks question the durability of hollow-handled knives. I think you will really believe in the strength of this knife when you see the design of the knife-to-handle connection on the Martin Knives site. It is a well-constructed knife. I do want to note that it is made in Taiwan, which may upset some, but the quality was great on mine. Overall, everything was well done on it. I returned the Apparo because, after getting a chance to hold it, I discovered that this particular design is just not for me. There is actually a great assessment of the flaws of this design from a camping and bushcraft perspective over on Bladeforums.com. I read the discussion before I bought the knife but went ahead with the purchase anyway because I put more faith in the positive things people said than the negative. Also, I'm a child of the '80s and I bought a LifeKnife Commando back then that I still have. When I was barely a teen, I thought hollow-handled knives were ingenious. I also thought First Blood showcased all the reasons to have one. The Apparo is very reminiscent of that LifeKnife of mine but much more stoutly built. So, it was painful to me to admit that the Apparo just didn't work for me. I won't say it as articulately as it was presented in the Bladeforums thread (check out Gaston444's comments from 2015) but the problems I encountered were all mentioned in the thread that comes up when you Google "Boker apparo review." These include: - Handle is thick and feels like you are holding an overly-thick mop. It's not comfortable and I wear XL gloves. This seems like it would be awful for chopping tasks and fatiguing in general use. - The cross-guard seems like it should be on a medieval sword not a knife. It is big and thick and weighs a ton. Why? - The big handle and oversized guard make the blade seem too small. When I looked up the design at Martin Knives I saw that they sell a 9" version that is much better suited to the guard and handle. - ...and the biggest issue for me was the balance. The knife just feels awkwardly heavy in my hand. I have choppers and kukris that weigh more but are faster handling and more controllable (e.g. a Becker Kukri). You have a giant cross-guard right at the end of the handle. I'm not knocking the quality of knife. It was robust and impressive: very cool looking. If you are looking for a display piece to pull out at barbecues, then this is it. It is just not suited to me and what I look for in a knife. IMHO, if you want a good & affordable chopping knife, get a Schrade Little Ricky or Kershaw Camp 10. I have both and have had great success with them. I bought the Camp 10 after using the older Outcast for years and am happy with the purchase. Solid and well-made for what it is. But not a good choice for camping.

Boker Plus Apparo
Best hollow handle knife I have ever come across. Extremely well made. I can't get over the thickness of the blade, matter of fact, the only flaw I see is finding a kydex utility sheath that will accommodate it.

not worth the time to look at 1/2 a star
Let me start with I am a knife collector and carry one for work all the time. That said this is the worst reproduction knife, the sheath is a joke , the knife came so dull I couldn't cut cold butter, the Para cord on the handle unrevealed out of the box , not balanced, saw back what saw back just some groves cut on back of blade , boker should be ashamed to stamp there name on this one sending it back save your cash

Greetings, When I bought this knife I did not realize that there were dents on the upper part of the blade nor that the handle was chorded. So I gave it. The man who received it was very satisfied. Kind regards,

I possess a lot of knives and this one is among my preferred ones. Perfect for any usage, perfect workmanship, sturdy, seem unbreakable. Keep it's edge for a long period.
