Told in alternating timelines, THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can’t bring ourselves to see coming. Twenty-eight-year-old Georgia Stanton has to start over after she gave up almost everything in a brutal divorce―the New York house, the friends, and her pride. Now back home at her late great-grandmother’s estate in Colorado, she finds herself face-to-face with Noah Harrison, the bestselling author of a million books where the cover is always people nearly kissing. He’s just as arrogant in person as in interviews, and she’ll be damned if the good-looking writer of love stories thinks he’s the one to finish her grandmother’s final novel…even if the publisher swears he’s the perfect fit. Noah is at the pinnacle of his career. With book and movie deals galore, there isn’t much the “golden boy” of modern fiction hasn’t accomplished. But he can’t walk away from what might be the best book of the century―the one his idol, Scarlett Stanton, left unfinished. Coming up with a fitting ending for the legendary author is one thing, but dealing with her beautiful, stubborn, cynical great-granddaughter, Georgia, is quite another. But as they read Scarlett’s words in both the manuscript and her box of letters, they start to realize why Scarlett never finished the book―it’s based on her real-life romance with a World War II pilot, and the ending isn’t a happy one. Georgia knows all too well that love never works out, and while the chemistry and connection between her and Noah is undeniable, she’s as determined as ever to learn from her great-grandmother’s mistakes―even if it means destroying Noah’s career. Review: Dual timeline heart wrenching romance that will make you ugly cry - This book is told through dual timelines and dual love stories, and Rebecca Yarros handled both beautifully. One storyline is set during World War II and follows an American pilot and an English WAAF officer, while the other takes place in the present day with their great-granddaughter navigating her own romance. The chapters alternate between the two couples, weaving the past and present together seamlessly. The WWII storyline absolutely stole the show. It was emotional, intense, and utterly heart-wrenching, with a major plot twist I did not see coming. Their love felt raw, urgent, and shaped by the realities of war, and it left a lasting impact long after I finished the book. The modern-day romance was more of a traditional contemporary love story, enjoyable and comforting, though more familiar in comparison. While it didn’t hit quite as hard emotionally, it served as a solid counterbalance to the devastation of the historical timeline and helped tie the story together. Overall, this was a beautifully written, emotional read that highlights love in both its timeless and evolving forms. If you enjoy dual timelines, historical romance, and stories that will break your heart before putting it back together, this one is well worth the read. Review: Heartbreaking and unforgettable - Audiobook 4/5 ⭐️ Story 4/5 ⭐️ The Things We Leave Unfinished was a beautifully layered romance that kept me hooked from start to finish. The dual timelines and multiple POVs worked really well, weaving together the tragic love story of Scarlett and Jameson during WWII in England with the rivals-to-lovers dynamic between Georgia and Noah in present-day Colorado. Scarlett and Jameson’s story clearly takes center stage and for good reason. Their love was heartbreaking and unforgettable, and I found myself far more invested in their journey. The plot twist genuinely caught me off guard, which added an extra punch to an already emotional read. As the story built toward the ending, I teared up more than once; it really stays with you. I also loved the audiobook experience; the dual narration by Tim Page and Carly Robins was excellent and brought so much depth to the characters. I’d definitely recommend reading this while listening to the audiobook to get the full emotional impact.

a rare gem among romance books with metafiction and a good twist
I normally don't like Romance vry much and at first I didn't think this one would be anything I hadn't seen before. For the most part, it follows predictable tropes, but I've read enough that I rarely encounter things that are truly new and so execution matters more and it does this well. A few things make this book work. as it revolves around two people meeting to write a romance novel, the story engages in some pretty clever metafiction here and there. also, o spoilers but there is a reveal in the flashbacks late in the story that despite me being quite jaded with most plots was legitimately surprising and very welcome to what I generally don't get to see. The book is written in past tense, which I prefer and while much of the plot is predictable and follows the formula, it is crafted well and is a delight to read, even for a romance-hater like myself. I give very few 5-stars on amazon but this one deserves it.

Incredible Stories, but Lots of Tears
5++ Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED will not be this story. This is one you will want to read from start to finish—and likely more than once. The present-day tale of Georgia and Noah captivates with its ups and downs and touches of angst and heartache. The bittersweet story of Scarlett and Jameson is sure to evoke strong emotions, especially heartbreak with many tears, but also moments of sweetness and joy. What truly sets the narrative apart are the unexpected twists and turns that will leave you breathless; some may even provide a sense of peace to balance the sorrow. This is an incredible read that even now brings me to tears as I am writing this. The well-drawn characters and highly emotive writing will draw you in from the beginning and keep you thoroughly engaged until the very end. The seamless transitions between the present and the past make it easier to navigate through the emotional challenges each character faces. Moreover, how it is written makes it even harder to put down, as you’ll be eager to find out what happens next for each couple. I can’t recommend this highly enough but be warned to keep plenty of tissues on hand, and if you read it before bed, you won’t be getting much sleep.

Outstanding Read!
First off ... Outstanding read. It had everything a romance novel should have. Plus, it was very heartwarming and emotional in the feel good ending kind of way. All the characters got the ending they deserved. The good ones. The bad ones. The ones you aren't prepared for. Everything flows evenly and keeps you turning the page. I picked this up because of the cover. I stayed because of the beautiful story that it provided.

What an emotional ride!!
Wow. Just, wow. So I went into this blind. I knew there was a divorce from the first few words in the synopsis I accidentally read, but that was literally all I knew. I cannot remember the last time I cried so hard reading a book. It was such a beautiful, though heartbreaking, story. My review will in no way do this book justice, or adequately convey my feelings about it. I can’t seem to gather my thoughts cohesively, so this will be scattered. I have so much to say, but also don’t want to give any spoilers. These characters stole my heart. Both men are truly swoon-worthy. While Noah’s previous “bachelor” ways are briefly (and more vaguely) mentioned, both men are gentlemen. The women show strength and intelligence. But all have moments of vulnerability. This was my first Rebecca Yarros book, so maybe it’s how she typically writes, but, I loved the way the spicy scenes weren’t overtly explicit. They were still somehow very passionate. There was a point in the book that I wasn’t loving the flashbacks, or rather the placement of them. They happen at such inopportune times. Just when I’m catching my stride and getting into the story, we go back in time. And the same happens in the past timeline. I get into it, and we jump into present again. I understand the reason for it stylistically, but it was still frustrating. That said, I realized about halfway through the reason it felt this way is because I loved all the characters so much. It wasn’t like one of those multi-POV books where I didn’t like this person and couldn’t wait to get back to someone else. I just genuinely was so invested in them all, in all the stories, that it was hard to break away once immersed. The way the puzzle pieces come together kind of blew me away. In hindsight, it all made sense. Really, I enjoyed her writing style immensely. PAST At one point, my notes say “Is this a historical Romance?! I think I could love it.” I love the romance of that era. Her modesty and morals. There’s just such a sweet innocence about it. While a wartime romance isn’t for the faint of heart, I enjoyed the sense of urgency it created. The unknown of tomorrow. The way it matures a person, living through that. I found myself wishing I understood more about the politics of the time (though admittedly that could very well be my own ignorance, and not that anything was missing from the book). And more of the particulars of what Scarlett and Constance were doing in the WAAF. PRESENT Georgia and Noah’s banter was fun. The care he shows her throughout the book is next level. He sits her down and reverses roles. He makes her tea. He explains how he won’t let her fall if she climbs.

One of the things left unfinished was a good editing
This is a classic and engaging romance novel. It was spoiled for me, though, my the sloppy editing. The main character, Georgia, is the granddaughter or great-granddaughter of Scarlett which is it? I figured out that Scarlett was Georgia’s granddaughter despite Scarlett’s being referred to frequently as “great-gran”. In a scene set in 1941, the driver of a military vehicle us said to out the car in drive. This was jarring, as I believe accelerating in 1941 meant shifting into first, second, and third gear. In the last part of the book, the grandmother is supposed to be telling Damian that she couldn’t marry until she knew her first husband was dead. Why would she be confiding in Damian, the much-disliked first husband of Georgia? I doubt she shared confidences with Damian. These careless mistakes came close to spoiling a great story. They lift the veil of illusion that every novelist counts on maintaining.

Fast delivery and good condition
It was delivered so fast and came in good condition. I ordered it in the morning and it was delivered the same day. I have only read three chapters, but so far it's really good. It's a big book.

great read
The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros is a sweeping, emotionally rich dual-timeline romance that explores the enduring power of love, the pain of loss, and the stories we carry through generations. Told across two timelines, the novel follows a poignant WWII-era romance between Scarlett and a fighter pilot, interwoven with her great-granddaughter Georgia’s present-day journey as she rebuilds her life after divorce. As Georgia works to finish Scarlett’s unfinished manuscript with the help of bestselling author Noah Harrison, the past and present collide in powerful, unexpected ways. Scarlett’s wartime love story is particularly moving, filled with sacrifice, longing, and resilience. Meanwhile, Georgia’s path to healing mirrors her great-grandmother’s in emotionally resonant ways. The alternating perspectives bring depth and poignancy, though the timeline shifts may feel disorienting to some readers. Yarros delivers a narrative that stirs the full spectrum of emotion—heartbreak, hope, nostalgia, and joy. The historical storyline stands out for its depth and impact, while the contemporary thread adds a layer of introspection and second chances. For readers who love deeply emotional, time-spanning romances that explore legacy, heartbreak, and healing, The Things We Leave Unfinished is a beautifully written and unforgettable experience. Be warned: this one doesn’t pull its emotional punches.
