You may fill in water from roll top open, then freeze it in fridge.

Also what does four cooling zones on this vest mean?

Water flow from backpack is 1/4” tubings, split-flow to four 1/8” micro tubing cooling channel embedded on the vest after go through 1-4 fittings. This design will provide better and quick cooling performance.

I am a welder, will the material melt or catch fire if el exposed to heat or flame?

Yes, the material is not fire retardant. However, if you wear a welders jacket on top it will cool you better than leaving it exposed to ambient air. When riding motorcycle in hot (100+) temperatures I would wear a puffy vest over it to maximize cooling.
