Navigating the available fitness information online can be confusing and time-consuming at best, and a minefield of misinformation at worst. One inherent problem is that information online is always presented as supremely important and as the next ‘big thing,’ without context or any understanding of priorities. Enter The Muscle and Strength Pyramid books. The foundational concept of these books is understanding priorities and context, so you can take all the pieces of the puzzle and fit them together into an actionable plan. • Six sample routines to get you started quickly Six programs for novice, intermediate, and advanced-level bodybuilders and strength-focussed athletes. • Break through those training plateaus With our full progression guidelines and examples, you’ll never be left frustrated and wondering what to do next. • Learn how to tailor your own programming for faster results Our quick-start programming guide will show you how to apply all the principles that go into program design. The chief author of the books, Dr. Eric Helms, has not only the academic understanding of training and nutrition as an active researcher but also extensive practical experience. He has been a personal trainer, powerlifting and bodybuilding coach since 2005, helping hundreds bridge the gap between science and practice to reach their goals. In addition, he has the minds of Andrea Valdez, and Andy Morgan to ensure the concepts are communicated clearly and effectively and no stone is left unturned. Andrea is a lifelong athlete with extensive coaching experience and her Masters in Exercise Physiology, and Andy is a successful writer and consultant for body composition change with a unique grasp of how to communicate topics to diverse groups, as he produces content for both the Japanese and English speaking fitness communities. Together, they bring you The Muscle and Strength Training Pyramid, the hierarchical, comprehensive, evidence-based guide that is a must-have for every serious lifter or trainer. Review: Full of Knowledge - Amazing book. I have to read a few sections a few times coz it does get technical but it was worth it. I have a very solid understanding of my training now. Previously I would work with a Personal Trainer (who was valuable in her own way of course) but with this book I feel confident that I can take my training to the next level on my own.

A pure waste of money
A pure waste of money. References to hundreds of studies, a kind of academic collection of data and for what ? A few tables with some « recommendations » about volume/intensity. I was expecting a clear method to build my own program…. Non-sense

The essential training handbook you must have
I have been following Andy Morgan for a while on his website and have read quite a lot (most?) of what he has written. I have enjoyed it and found it useful. But, as a trainee that is easily distracted by some new article, ”evidence”, better way of training I have found it difficult to be consistent and get the gains I probably should have got. Therefore, this book (I also have the one on Nutrition) is absolutely fantastic. It’s clear, quite easy to read (although as non native English I find it sometimes challenging) and very throughout with information. Using a pyramid to help building the information, with a foundation and then add new knowledge in order of importance is very clear and easy to follow approach of gaining knowledge. I’m confident that the book will allow me to understand more than enough to be useful for many years to come and to stay focused on the important things instead of wasting time on nonsense. Even if I’m not there yet I can see that the sample programs together with the guidance to build your own program specifically tailored for you will make a difference in my training. So, my recommendation is to get this book in your hands, put the time to read and understand the concepts, and you will only regret that you didn’t purchase this book earlier.

Simplification of knowledge needed to write programs, all in one place
This book takes countless studies and meta studies (which is the study of studies) which brings so much knowledge into one place without needing 50 or more books. You should have a basic understanding of resistance training and the various reasons and methods used in resistance training, aka general rep ranges and their purpose will be challenged in this book but most lifters have heard 3 to 6 reps for strength 8 to 12 for hypertrophy etc etc if these terms are new this book may get real confusing, but can still be used by anyone. It just may be harder to understand the first time through and may need more than one read.
