Ground Loop - Home Theater
Setup: HTPC (PC) → Preamp/Processor → Jensen CI-1RR → Subwoofer Amp → 2x JTR 4000 ULF Verdict: An indispensable "set it and forget it" tool for eliminating ground loop hum without sacrificing, and actually protecting, ultra-low frequency performance. 1. The Problem: The "HTPC-Sub" Hum When connecting a Home Theater PC (HTPC) to high-power, high-sensitivity subwoofers like the JTR 4000 ULF, ground loops are incredibly common. The PC, with its switching power supply, and the massive amplifiers in the JTR subs often operate on slightly different ground potentials. This results in a persistent, low-frequency 60Hz hum/buzz that ruins quiet movie scenes and makes the system feel "noisy." 2. Unlike cheap, $15 "ground loop isolators" from Amazon—which typically kill low-frequency response and introduce harmonic distortion—the Jensen CI-1RR uses a high-grade nickel-iron-molybdenum transformer.. Yes, I have purchased 4 other ground loop components from Amazon claiming to get rid of the HUM with no luck. I honestly didn't think this would work. There is one thing to note. When I plugged this device into the PC directly, it actually caused more hum. Plugging it into the subwoofer and then into the wall actually gets rid of the hum. I'm not sure how that works. This Device does not remove the subwoofer base. The other products that I purchased every one of them got rid of the subwoofer base and it was distorted very noticeable. I hope this helps. Anyone else trying to get rid of a hum. But I've also purchased a (Jensen Iso-Max CI-1RR RCA Mono Line Input Isolator Hum Eliminator) from the Internet. I'm not sure how it works yet because it doesn't arrive till Thursday but this will be product number five trying to test.

It actually worked.
This little device completely solved the coil whine issue with my new 9070xt. I was getting it really bad through my speakers but also through my fiio dac/amp through a USB connection. I tried every single combination of ports and plugs, routing through the monitor, high quality cables... Nothing worked at all until I tried this. It's expensive, but at least I can game without screeching sound driving me crazy.

Solved 60Hz hum caused by ground loop between my TV and AV processor via HDMI connection
OK, I must admit, I bought this as a last attempt to solve a bad 60Hz hum on my brand new Home Theatre sound system, which I'd identified as being caused by a ground loop between my TV and my AV processor, via the eARC HDMI interconnect. After a lot of research and YouTube watching, apart from physically "lifting" the ground from the TV, I did tried several solutions, including the HDMI silencer from iFi as well but nothing worked. Then I decided to buy try this product but was very skeptical it would make any difference. But to my surprise, it worked like a charm! I used it to plug the TV's power cable and immediately, the hum was absolutely gone! If this hadn't worked, I would need to run the TV's power cable down to the same TrippLite Isobar where the AV processor was connected so both would share the exact same ground, which would ruin the aesthetics because the cable would be visibly hanging on the wall. So, count me as a happy customer. This product might not work on every scenario, but it definitely worked better than I expected in my case.

They worked for my situation
First, let me preface this review by saying that these are way over priced. $100? Come on. And yes, you will need 2 of these if you are using monitors to mix music, so that's $200 you'll need to spend. Nuts. But, they did help resolve the ground loop issues I was having in my near field studio monitors. I have a pair of CLA-10s that I use in my home studio, and like most home studios, the power is not set up to deal with ground loops for studio use. And these speaker buzz like flies. Interesting enough, I didn't have any issues when I was using KRKs, but it is what it is. The iFI did resolve the issue, but I have concerns over what they may be doing to the sound. I've heard that any of these devices will have an impact on your high frequencies, and maybe even other stuff. That being said, for a studio, I'm not sure you'd want to use anything like these. For home theater or casual use, I don't see any issues. But without the means to have an electrician come out and rewire your home, you're kind of stuck with what you have. So for now, these are stopping that dreadful buzz and that's great. Long term, if I decide to do more serious producing, I would look in to having professionals fix the problem at the power source. I haven't noticed a major difference in the sound, but these things can be insidious and won't show up until you put it in a professional system and realize that something's just not right in your mixes. Good luck!

Amazing results in my Hifi setup!!!
I just bought a new tube amplifier and it hummed right out of the box. It was audible three feet away from the speakers, but not at my listening position. Being an IT tech guy, this bothered me even though I could just ignore it. I had two components in my hifi that used three prong AC cords, the new amp and my DAC. They were both plugged into the same Panamax line conditioner and I THOUGHT that would share a common ground and not be the issue. Initially, it made sense and I thought the tube amp was to blame, however after removing the interconnects from the DAC, the hum went away. Long story short, if I plugged my DAC into a different outlet (same circuit), the hum went away 95%. I bought this product and then connected the DAC back into the Panamax and the hum is completely gone. This was worth every penny since it restored my sanity. Hopefully, this save other hifi enthusiasts hours of frustration and troubleshooting. You only need one audio component connected to a ground and the others can be "lifted" safely using this product. You should not use cheater plugs.

Whilst this is quiet an expensive item, it has proved immediately effective at resolving a ground loop audio issue with my desktop computer. Prior to this I had managed to resolve the noise (mouse movement, GPU hum etc) by running the computer via a UPS, however this was overkill and wasteful power wise. Given that the UPS worked when everything else had failed (moving power sockets, putting all audio on same power socket, grounding case to amp etc), I was fairly sure the iFi would fix it without a UPS. I did run a somewhat unsafe test with an ungrounded IEC lead (don't do this as a fix) and this resolved the issue so I ordered the iFi. I now have all the befits of noise isolation without a grounded lead but without the lost of protection as the iFi will kick in if there is a fault. I am not going to claim this will fix your ground loop or noise issues as it is a problematic issue to resolve that can have lots of causes but given the above this fixed it completely for me.
