A few quibbles but a very nice instrument overall
Fun synth! Analog sound wrapped in a digital package. When you turn it on, it tells you it's tuning itself, and it's fine until it's warmed up and then it goes out of tune a little, so I make a habit of power-cycling it a couple of minutes after I power up so it can retune itself. On one hand, it's a little annoying, but on the other hand, it's analog, and I think this is just the nature of the analog beast. I wish the sequencer was easier to program, but it might just be my limited attention span to blame for that. I also wish it had a full-size keyboard, but that would bump the form factor up quite a bit if the number of keys were stay the same, and you could presumably hook it up to a full-size keyboard if you really wanted to. (I may end up doing that.) And why is there no mod controller??? I know, there are knobs to do that stuff with, maybe that's a valid reason for not having one. I do like the filter knob, it's the one big knob, which is appropriate, as it may in effect BE the mod wheel. Also, I wish this had an actual pitch bend wheel instead of the little lever, which is a little sticky once in a while until it gets worked in - pitch bend controllers have to center themselves 100%, all the time, or else they're really annoying. Seems better now that it's been used a bit. I'll call it five stars, just because it's a nice package, real wood on the back, and lots of aluminum - feels like it will hold up to a lot of use.

Great for beginners and fun for veterans
The saying goes "Jack of trades, master of none". I would say this is a pretty accurate description for the Minilogue. This is the swiss army knife of synths, which is great, depending on your needs. There's almost nothing this thing cant produce, but it isn't going to sound as rich as other synths, it's not modular and the menu isn't my favorite. All that being said, with the price tag as low as it is, it's really hard not to love this thing. I spent about a month with 4 different synths and this one ended up being the winner because it will do what all the other synths did, maybe not quite as well, but well enough that it made it the logical choice for someone who is just getting into synths. It is also something that I can grow into and will probably always have around even if I go down the rabbit hole. Overall, if you're new to the synth game, this is the one for you. If you're well versed, this is a fun machine that can do just about everything well enough at a price tag anyone can afford with a little budgeting. It's definitely worth having around.

Blown away by sound, ease of use & build quality (a few small cons) !
I absolutely love this. Coupled with the Roland JD-Xi, I think this becomes the best pair of synths ever under $1k. Here's the highlights: - All parameters have easy knob control, hence its easy even for a novice to sound synthesis like me, to create interesting tones. - Amazing build quality & aesthetics (it just looks sexy) - Beautiful high quality pure analog sound - Great quality keys & action (on the stiffer side) - The little oscilloscope to see the wave form Cons - Sequencer could've been much easier to use (eg. the JDXi ingeniously allows recording your live playing which automatically gets converted into the sequencer steps) - A bigger screen with other status info like current preset etc would be useful

Great analog synth in a compact, beautifully designed keyboard
Although there are endless software synths available as standalone apps for computers and tablets, as well endless built-in versions in all the popular digital audio workstations, there's nothing like having the real thing in front of you. This is my first real synthesizer, and I love experimenting with the endless variety of sounds it can produce. I output it to one of my guitar amps, or directly into Logic Pro on my computer, where I can monitor and record the audio output, and/or use it as a MIDI controller. I confess I was first drawn to this model by its design. It's beautifully design and built. It feels solid and the controls operate smoothly. It has 200 memory slots for saving your patches (100 are pre-loaded, but you can change them), and there is a software available from Korg to manage the patches and download new ones through your computer. Highly recommended.

Great analog synth for the money
I've owned this for about 2 months now and am very happy with it. The latest firmware update makes it even better with things like micro-tuning and the ability to change the key the sequencer pattern is playing in. Its well built and has plenty of knobs for tweaking. Also, the library manager makes it easy to save and load presets that you can download from Korg.

Excellent minimalist electronic tone generator with great controls
This thing is cool. Even with all the digitization and software-based synthesizers everywhere nowadays (in computers, keyboards, tablets, etc.), it's nice to have a true analog rig to play around with. This synth has a solid/sturdy build, and the knobs have a nice grip to them (not slippery). The keys are obviously smaller than a normal piano -- with fully stretched fingers, I can easily reach an octave plus a third, and I have small hands (on normal-sized pianos, best I can do is a ninth). They are also low resistance and snappy (like an organ), so it's easy on the fingers and fun to play fast/technical riffs. The controls & parameters the knobs/switches give you over the sound generation are the true gems of this synth. You get 2 oscillators that can generate sawtooth, triangle, or square waveforms (also a white noise generator for effects). From these elementary/fundamental tones, you can shape the sound in all kinds of ways via low pass filter, delay + high pass filter, modulation, envelope generator, low-frequency oscillator, etc.; the last two (EG & LFO) can be targeted to modulate/control various other parameters like pitch, wave shape, filter cutoff, etc. for countless different combinations and effects. Also, since almost all the control over the final resulting sound is through the knobs/switches (vs. hard to navigate menus in some synths), this is especially easy to use and almost educational in being able to see all the current parameters/values physically on the controls and how they affect the final waveform, which is also shown on the built-in Oscilloscope display when the synth is generating sound, in real-time as you adjust them. For the price tag, this synth has very good build quality, is fun and educational, and totally worth it. It's great for messing around and discovering new sounds through experimentation with the parameters. It also has a nice sequencer (for recording up to 16 steps), so you can do some simple looping as well. There's so much more to say about this synth, and I can't do it justice, so look up other reviews as well if you aren't sold already. In summary, this synth is great as a minimalist tone generator for electronic sounds. It has great control over the final sound through various modulation, filter, and EG/LFO controls, and having all these controls immediately available on the panel through knobs/switches makes it very easy to use (even if you don't fully understand what each control does), simple to navigate, and educational in being able to see all the controls and how they contribute to the final sound. It has all the standard ports/connections including MIDI, USB-MIDI, AUDIO IN/OUT, headphones, and SYNC ports for tempo syncing with external devices. The only downsides for me (thus making it 4 stars) are: - Tuning: As it is analog, the oscillators do go out of tune over time and extended play. The synth has a built-in tuning feature you can activate any time, but it takes about 15 seconds, and you can't play while it's tuning itself. I've noticed the oscillators do go out of tune more than I'd like, especially if you exercise both oscillators & all the modulation capabilities heavily. This makes the synth less ideal/consistent for live performance and better suited for studio use & experimentation. - 3-octave range: it is called minilogue after all. So it's great for melodies and single voice leads/riffs, but not so much full piano-style playing with 2-hand accompaniment + melody because there's just not enough range with 3 octaves. Of course, you can connect an external keyboard/controller through MIDI connectors, like a full 88-key controller, but that's not really the point of this synth. - Sustain: I've noticed sustain pedal doesn't work for any of the patches on this synth. Again, wasn't expecting this to work anyway, and you can always substitute/mimic sustain with sustain/release portions of the envelope generator. But besides that, this synth has all the quality you'd expect from a KORG product.

Can’t beat it! Best synth ever made??
This is a legendary synth! Inspiration just flows out of this thing like you can’t imagine! Best synth available for the money bar none! Korg makes a great synth (I own a Microkorg, a MicroX, and Module with every expansion) but their tech support is garbage. Buy from a reputable dealer that will most likely sell you the latest version. Mine is version 1.1 and the firmware won’t update. Oh well, I still love it.

Great sound.
There's definitely a click with the noises produced, but I like it. This synth allows you to create your own sounds in real-time. It's taken my music production to the next level. If you've only ever used pre-loaded instruments and a MIDI keyboard like me, this will blow your mind. Buy it! The price is great, the quality is great, it's not heavy, it's perfect. I'm in love.

Bravisimo Korg, cinco estrellas

Great value for an analog synthesizer.
Upsides: It's a 4 note polyphonic analog synthesizer for a very reasonable price. 3 Octave keyboard fits my fingers and playing style well (even though they are elongated mini keys). Sequencer is very capable and useful. Filter gets you the 'analog sound' and key tracks very well (as in you can 'play' the filter). Sequencer can automate up to 4 parameters which provides a wealth of options. Delay effect is very useful (and can also be automated). Build quality is very good for the price grade. Aluminium panel and wood on backing. Knobs feel well mounted. Feels very solid. Looks good too. Downsides: Can sound 'clicky' on some short attack envelope settings (this can be tamed using a bit more attack). Sometimes requires retuning especially if cold (this can be done with a quick button shortcut). Sequencer with current firmware can't transpose sequence, which is a feature I would have liked. Delay effect can be noisy / crunchy (this might be considered a feature to some). Basic quality keyboard. Overall: If you want it, you know you want it. This is an incredible value. The price overshadows the downsides for me. I've been playing keyboard / synthesizers for 15 years and this is a winner for me.

Muy fácil de usar! ME ENCANTA!!!!!!
