This book was well written and helped me in clearing my exams in my first attempt. Most content are given in elaborate and also concise. Will help you for exams at last moment. Only drawback it's not updated since 2015. But realistically you don't need to pass the exam

I bought this and few months later the second edition came out... Which is also excellent. Buy the newer one.

This is an essential book for any trainee sitting the FRCS General Surgery. It covers every sub-specialty in depth. I used it to prepare for Section 2 (viva), but I think it would also have been excellent in preparing for Section 1 (MCQ). The lay-out of the book mirrors what I encountered during the viva, with initial questions based around a clinical scenario, building up to more detailed questions about the underlying pathology/ physiology etc. I don’t yet know how I've done in Section 2 (I have my fingers crossed), but I do feel that this book was a huge help in preparing for it. Highly recommended!
