Comandante C40 Hand Grinder MK4 - Black

The Comandante C40 is hands down the best manual coffee grinder I’ve ever used. The build quality is outstanding, with a solid, premium feel that shows real craftsmanship. Love this grinder! It's slower than my K-Ultra but it also seems to turn with about half the effort and a more consistent level of resistance which makes it more enjoyable in actual use for me. I like the glass catch cup, larger diameter, and shorter handle too. I'm also liking the coffee I'm getting from it better as well, seems a more balanced and rounded cup.The whole package is also very nicely presented and put together, opening it up you really feel like you're dealing with a truly premium product. Extra plastic catch cup and lid, felt matt, and rubber bracelet (grip aid) are nice additions and the way it's all packaged up is really very nice. I hesitated about buying this since I already have a very nice grinder in the K-Ultra, but I'm glad I did and I'm enjoying this one more.

I finally broke down and bought one, after my experience with electric grinders including higher end models I wanted something simple that would have the same or better grind quality. I have a Moccamaster and do V60 pour overs so I mostly only do 1-3 cups of coffee a day but an occasion of 1.25 liters when people come over. I also love to experiment with different coffees/temp/grind sizes and the manual nature adds to the experience.One huge annoyance with any grinder is static, they ALL have the issue to a certain degree. I would have to vacuum my countertop 1-2 times a week even with RDT with the electric grinders would have to break them down to clean out once a month. This was a deal breaker for me. I finally got tired of the maintenance and decided to go manual, at least I can control any flying coffee grounds by pouring into my filter basket over the sink and not having it all over the counter. So far I am happy with the results, much less cleaning involved! Depending on beans etc, RDT is also required with the C40 but it seems to work better than it did with the electric grinders.The click adjustment system is not for everyone but I am already used to it and love it, so many recipes out there that specify roughly what adjustment the grinder needs and it is simple. The grinder is built like a tank and it shocked me how heavy the box was when it was delivered. If you have had the cheap hario hand grinders the C40 is a much better/faster experience. I highly recommend and I personally will never go back to an electric grinder no matter the price.

It is an excellent product that performs its function perfectly, but the price is too high.

The Comandante C40 lives up to its name and has helped me achieve very delicious pour over coffee. I very much appreciate the simplistic, modern, and solid construction. It is easily disassembled and assembled for cleaning and there are helpful YouTube videos provided by comandante to get familiar with it. I recommend purchasing a small brush in order to quickly clean the grinder of any grinds after grinding. I had one that came with 1Zpresso grinder so I use that one. It would’ve been a thoughtful addition to come with this grinder. The grind adjustment is easy but I always forget how many “clicks” I’m on so I just change it off of vibes and extraction time/taste. Happy with purchase and hopefully will last me a long time.

Good quality but I also have the 1Zpresso K -Ultra it is faster and has a better construction material. Too much money because the brand.

Macinino resistente e ultra performante. C'è poco da dire, Comandante è sempre una garanzia. Lo uso principalmente per macinare tostature molto chiare, che spesso anche con altri macininini manuali di alta gamma sono risultate faticose da macinare. Con questo non ho avuto problemi nemmeno con i caffè etiopi o kenioti più densi e duri. Ci vuole poco tempo anche a macinare per espresso, nonostante credo sia indispensabile usare la modifica red clikx per riuscire ad ottenere buoni risultati, vista la differenza di granulometria relativamente importante tra uno scatto e l'altro. Resta ad ogni modo uno dei migliori macinini per caffè percolati e infusi. Macinatura precisa e con un ottima distribuzione granulometrica.

This is an excellent coffee grinder which I have used for a V60, Moka Pot and a French Press. It grinds well and is enjoyable to use, although it might not be suitable for people with small hands. It is expensive but if you enjoy the experience of grinding coffee manually then I would highly recommend it.
