Would this work if I hit one in my car in order to track its whereabouts if it was stolen?

Hid one in the headrest good line of site to the windows so signal not blocked. Accurate to within 10m to 50m. So you need to replace the battery every year no big deal no subscription. Anti stalking would not activate you will have it in lost mode at that point. You would never hear it stuffed up inside a headrest or under a roof liner. Beats GPS as it will work in an underground car park. GPS needs to see the sky this just needs someone with an iPhone to walk past. Brilliant car tracker no monthly fee. I also have one on my Sons bike. Hidden under a tool bag hard to find compared to under the seat. Tracking works great. Hope that helps.

Can i use it as a car tracker?

I have used these in my cars since the day they were released, so a few do’s and don’t.

It connects to YOUR iPhone account (Find my iPhone) to tell you where it is, the location is updated every time someone (anyone) with an iPhone goes near to it/is within range.

It has an anti-stalking feature, which will notify any iPhone that it is always in range of (not just one that it passes a few times) so that person knows they have an Air Tag hidden on them, if this happens the tag will also beep so it can be easily located, not useful if you’ve hidden it in your car and the car is stolen.

The beep is very easily disabled by removing the speaker, takes a few minutes.

The batteries last about 12 months and take seconds to change.

Car thieves, on the whole, are technologically aware, they know that iPhones have GPS and they know it tracks locations and that these can be recalled even a year later…. they don’t take their iPhone with them when they’re robbing a car, it’s dumb, it’s proof where they were, they’ll get caught.

As a cheap tracker, it works, it has its own battery so disconnecting the car one won’t effect it, it’s under thirty quid and you’ll forget about it, until you’re lost and need to find your car…

Will the tag pair with an iPhone 6?

As long as your iPhone is running a minimum operating system version of iOS 14.5 onwards it will work. For detailed find mode you need an iPhone 11 onwards which have the U1 chip inside.

Any one know what the furthest distance it is it will work?

With Bluetooth -the claim is around 35 feet. That’s been my experience as well. If it is somewhere else: like the gym/park - it pings off other iPhones so you’ll get an approximate place and maybe memory will kick in.
