The Weaver's Inkle Pattern Directory: 400 Warp-Faced Weaves

Hey, if you're looking to dive into Inkle Loom weaving, this book is totally your jam! The instructions are super easy to follow and straight to the point. Plus, the spiral binding is a sweet bonus that makes it super convenient to use while you're working.

This is a MUST HAVE for the inkle or tape loom owner. This isn't a "how to get started with your loom" guide. You'll need a simple pamphlet from your loom manufacturer and maybe a YouTube video to learn to warp your loom and get good tension, to start and end a band, etc. This is the book you'll keep with your loom, the magic, the pattern guide! It contains the information you'll want for the rest of your journey with the band-type loom. Good examples, handy layout, lays flat. The companion to Anne Dixon's Handweaver's Pattern Directory that lives next to my floor looms.

I had a copy of Helene Bress' book for years, then gave it away to a new student when I moved on to other things. When I decided to start inkling again I looked and looked for the Bress book, but it was tough to find and expensive when I got lucky. Then THIS book came out! I don't care if I never see the Bress book again...this book is the absolute best book for inkling that I could imagine! First off, the binding is excellent...flat-opening spiral binding that makes keeping a pattern page open as simple as possible. The paper is sturdy and medium glossy, making the photo examples as beautiful as possible. The photography is excellent, with necessary close-ups and nice, thoughtful displays. The threading patterns are sensible and easy to read. And, bottom-line, the price is more than reasonable considering the work that went into this comprehensive volume. This truly can be the first and last inkle book a weaver would need, with enough patterns and variations to keep one busy for a very long (and satisfying) time.

I am enjoying this book, lots of great patterns. Some of the techniques are a bit complicated, but the explanations are not too hard to follow. I would have liked more information about yarn/thread selection, for example on some of the weaving styles, I didn't understand how different the thread sized needed to be, so I made a long belt that didn't work out very well. Suggestions of different yarns/threads to use, and how they might look would be helpful. I also would have liked some pictures of the loom set up so I could see how it should look. Final complaint is that the charts are a bit small, making them hard to read, especially with my older eyes, I have had to transcribe them to graph paper, or take a picture and enlarge it. I would still recommend this book, there are many patterns that range from simple to complicated, and I am enjoying trying them out. I made a belt with flowers using one of the Baltic style patterns to go with my Viking dress and got a lot of compliments at a recent SCA event. Overall a good book for learning Inkle patterns.

Very informative book teaches you many different styles of weaving on an inkle loom. Great for reenactors or people just interested in history.

I bought this book for the patterns. I weave on Tape or Band looms and found these patterns easy to adapt to band weaving on my small rigid heddles. I found the basic set up and instructions easy to follow in the book Tape Loom Weaving... simplified, also on Amazon if anyone needs basic instructions on setting up the threads and how to start pick up weaving. Then I wanted more patterns which Anne Dixon supplied. She had many great new patterns for me to explore. These two books are all you need!

I LOVE THIS BOOK. BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME TO GET IT... CANT WAIT TILL I START WORKING ON SOME OF THE PATTERNS. WELL DONE AND LOVE THE DIAGRAMS.

I am a weaver for over twenty years, and I use to keep notes on inkle patterns in a binder that I collected over the years, but now I have this reference book and It's much easier to use and refer to when needed. I also like the fact that there are patterns that I didn't have before and look forward to incorporating them into some of my work. This is the second book of Anne Dixon's that I own and again I'm not disappointed!

This is the most comprehensive book on Inkle Weaving that I've seen. The instructions are organized and the variety of patterns is inspiring! There are so many different techniques covered. It is also great that the book is spiral bound, then it lies flat. Helpful color photos of each weaving pattern. I love it!

Just what was required for my course. Very comprehensive.
