Amazing quality!
This is a fantastic monitor, I have been using it for almost 10 years now and it still works perfectly. I use it for playing games, art and watching movies on. Gaming on it is nice, it's capable of displaying rich color and a great picture. It's vibrant and bright without any flickering or lagging. Still to this day the picture is clear and sound, it functions beautifully. LG is a great brand for monitors, and I would happily purchase another one again! Overall, this monitor was well worth the value as I have gotten so much use out of it over the past 10 years. Phenomenal quality!

Really nice entry level 4k monitor
Really nice entry level 4k monitor. I was a bit hesitant to buy this one because of the lack of reviews around the web. Decided the price was worth it and might as well give it a try. Turned out to be a great purchase, not perfect but still really great. I've been using it for doing art and animation, and of course 4k gaming. It's color isn't as nice as a 90%+ Adobe RGB, but LG's S-IPS panels still have great color, a step above most monitors, especially around this price point. Gaming is a dream on this thing, so sharp and crisp, truly glorious. Here are some Pro's and Con's: Pros: -4k... duh -10 bit color (8+A-FRC) -S-IPS panel (great viewing angles) - 99%+ sRGB (measured as NTSC 72%) gamut. - Freesync (only works with AMD cards as of now) - 5ms on an IPS panel - 60hz - Black stabilizer setting, can bring out the details in certain dark images. - HDCP 2.2 Cons: - Only 3 inputs, 2 hdmi and 1 display-port (would have liked 1 more display-port) - Has an anti-glare coating (it's not very aggressive like some I've seen, but still can cause slight distortion when viewed from above/below at extreme angles) - At250 cd/m2 it's not on the high end of peak brightness, but not bad either. Update 1: I thought it might be handy to add a little section on setting up the PS4 Pro with this monitor. I took me awhile to realize how to get it working to display at 4k. You need to have a newer hdmi cable (2.0, the monitor comes with a short one) and you need to enable the setting for HMDI UHD deep color, this enables RGB 4:4:4 chroma signals to pass over HMDI so it can talk to the PS4 Pro. This setting is under Menu>Picture>Picture Adjust>HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color. This setting is common among LG 4k devices, so if you have an issue on another LG product w/ ps4 Pro, make sure it's enabled. You may also need to change RGB settings on the PS4 Pro to "Full". Update 2: I wanted to update with the settings I found best for my panel, in terms of color and brightness, etc. May not be universal, but could give a ballpark of what you may want. Brightness: 69 Contrast:67 Black Stabilizer: 35 RGB: Red: 55 Green: 53 Blue: 53 Six Color: RedH: 50 RedSat:61 GreenH:55 GreenSat:61 BlueH:62 BlueSat:62 YellH:51 YellSat:55 MagH:52 MagSat:62 CyanH:50 CyanSat:58

My first 4K monitor and the best one I've ever seen! (Read whole review for gaming/daily use review of the 27" monitor)
The screen is amazing and crystal clear (I haven't changed the settings at all, I've been using what they set it to). For the price of $296, at the time (Late November), it was perfect and still is! The text even looks amazing on this display. The custom color adjustments LG did to my monitor (as it came out of the factory) make it look rich, and accurate with its colors. I've had no problems with this display and it was worth every penny. The stand does tilt up and down a little but not much. There is no height adjustment on the monitor (None of these are cons to me; I don't need them). It is only at 60Hz, however I'm not going to spend like $500 or $800 on a 144Hz 1440p or 4k monitor. Most of them are TN panels and this is IPS. Honestly, everyone I know doesn't "just game" on their systems (which TN is supposed to be for). They use it for web browsing, YouTube, word, etc. With having multiple uses for my system, IPS is the main choice for me and has never let me down. The colors on IPS are accurate and better than TN. Sooner or later, with-in the next five years, 4k will be like 1080p/1440p is today for gaming. Nvidia is releasing Volta in early 2018 (from what I'm reading) and it's supposed to be able to handle 4k way better than the Pascal cards can. Although, currently I do have a Maxwell, EVGA GTX 960 SSC 4GB, which I overclocked a good amount (it's stable) and I'm getting very stable frames (no screen lagging at all on Rainbow Six). I have the settings on high with no problems (I could go higher but I'm limited to 4GB of GDDR5). Yes there is small amounts screen tearing here and there, however this is just temporary. I'm planning to either get a EVGA GTX 1080 SC2 or waiting for the Volta cards to come out. Honestly, the Maxwell cards are already out-of-date in a way. The games are demanding more graphics memory today and the Maxwell cards are running low on the amount of memory available. Especially with higher resolutions, the graphics card and computer will need more RAM. People have been recommending 16GB for system RAM and at least 6GB of GDDR5 for the graphics card. Hope this helps!

Does the trick
The monitor works remarkably well, beautiful crisp picture. Great for gaming and movies. This monitor comes at a low price point so great entry level monitor for some 4k gaming. The only issue I have with mine is a slight backlight bleed on the bottom of the screen right in the middle. You can't see it most of the time but when that particular section of the monitor is supposed to show black there's a slight glow encompassing a couple square inches on the bottom edge. I decided it wasn't enough of a nuisance to send the monitor back but that will cost them a star.

Unbeatable price (at the moment). Everything (but the stand) is very good!
Don't think you will find a better 4K monitor for the price (at the moment). Pros: - This monitor is beautiful. - The bezel is somewhat respectable compared to my 27" 2560x1440 and my 24" gaming monitor. - The colors are.. WOW! - Obviously, you can fit a lot more on one screen which might make it possible for users to reduce a 2-3 monitor setup to a 1-2 monitor setup. - I like the control knob on the bottom. It is much better than controls on the back of the monitor which are hard to get to and not as ugly as a bunch of buttons on the front of the monitor. - Two HDMI and a display port is great for hooking up different things to the monitor without having to get behind it and switch the cables around each time you need to switch the output device. - Again, you won't find a 27" 4K monitor at a better price (at the moment). Cons: - The speakers are not the greatest. I would recommend either using headphones or getting external speakers if you need sound (my preference). - The stand that this monitor comes with is actually pretty bad. If you bump your desk or if you are pounding away at your keyboard, you will definitely notice the monitor slightly shaking. You can easily avoid this with a VESA mount, but obviously that is another purchase that you will need to make if the shaking bothers you. I guess you get what you paid for, but the monitor itself is still very good! Another "complaint" that is bugging me a bit: I cannot get the screen color/brightness to match up exactly with my other two monitors. It is a little frustrating to look from one monitor to the next and see that they are different brightnesses (after spending quite a long time trying to adjust them to match). In the end, I would give this monitor a 4.5/5. It does everything that I need it to do and the price was just unbeatable. When I can get a 4K monitor cheaper than a replacement 27" 2560x1440 monitor (my twin monitor that was having issues), then I am definitely going to give it a shot. I like LG as a brand and I am glad that they are competing in the monitor business (with other big names like: Asus, Acer, Samsung, Dell, etc.). I have had this monitor for a bit over two months now and haven't had any issues. I would recommend this for those who are on a budget and are looking to try out a 4K monitor!

Nice Monitor, Almost Perfect
So far, so good. The monitor is what I expected. Of course all bets are off it it doesn't last 5 years. My previous LG 27" IPS looks exactly like this one, and it lasted about 3 years and 9 months. I hope this one lasts longer than my previous one. We have cheap old monitors around the house that are 8-10 years old, and still work like new, so here's hoping. Likes: *Text is jet black and very smooth and sharp. Really, the only reason I chose 4K *Colors are true enough at default setting *Tiny "joystick" control is usable. My previous 27" LG had terrible controls. *VESA mount, 100x100 (~4x4") *No built in speakers to make it bulkier. Built in speakers sound like a smart phone anyway. Meh...* Bezel is not super thin. For the price, it should be *Stand is flimsy. Good thing I wall mounted it in front of my desk. * Had to buy a better graphics card, though my old one had good specs. *A little bulky, a tad thicker and heavier than my previous LG 27" IPS Dislikes *Matte finish screen. Really? You buy a 4K monitor so tiny text is clear and sharp, and they use a matte finish screen? Makes no sense at all. The Mona Lisa is behind clear glass, not a shower door. Bright monitors don't have glare problems. Used glossy screens for years, never had glare. Text and picturtes really pop on a glossy screen. Good news is, the anti-glare is semi-glossy. *Having to fiddle with Windows 10 to get the text and icon sizes right. *LG software is just plain awful. No way to flash the firmware, GUI is so tiny I can't read it. Really LG? All in all, a very nice monitor, but a little pricey. I recommend it if you don't mind the above nitpicks. 4.5 stars.

The assembly was easy and packaging was nice
These panels provide a quality picture and their performance matches advertised specs. The assembly was easy and packaging was nice. Menu system is intuitive. Only negatives would be that it doesn't auto select a working source, however I won't take a star away because it prompts you and makes it real easy to switch to the active display port source. This really won't be an issue for anyone using them as computer monitors since you likely won't be switching sources ever. The stands the monitors use are a little cheesy. Overall there is no reason to not give this product five stars. It does what it says it does and the pricing is aggressive. I realize some have complained and compared the specs of this monitor to high end 1080p monitors, but that's a little apples and oranges. These 4K higher resolution panels are pretty new on the market. Remember that 1080p panels were first introduced to a wide consumer audience almost 12 years ago. These 1080p resolution panels have gone through a series of generational changes and refinements for over a decade. While 4K panels only gained wide audience at CES in 2015. It's a little like complaining about present day VR quality vs. your 1080 (or 4K) monitor. We're still at effectively 1st gen people! It's a little like the early debates of film vs. digital cameras. We knew digital wasn't matching all the performance features and quality of film SLRs when they came out, but today digital is ubiquitous. If you remember when LCDs came out many were clinging on to CRTs for their colors and features. It's all the same story. If you need other performance metrics to be higher for your use case, by all means wait, but for most this is a non-issue and these panels will offer excellent performance.

Budget Monitor - Poor Quality Control
First and foremost, this is a budget model. If you're looking into getting this monitor, you need to lower your expectations if you're used to higher-end LCD panels found in higher end Samsung tablets, iPads, MacBook Pros, etc. I've tried 3 units, all with varying degrees of defects, and I've simply given up. Pros: - Cheap for a 27" 4K display in 2017. - Backlight bleed isn't that bad for the most part. Only one of the units had anything noticeable. - No ghosting. - Works with PlayStation 4 Pro in 4K @60Hz. - Works with my gaming desktop's GTX 1080 over HDMI with 4K @60Hz. - Works with my MacBook Pro 13 2016, and MacBook 12 2016 over USB-C to DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode with 4K @60Hz. Cons: - Mild rainbow-effect on white backgrounds is noticeable when closer than 3ft with my vision, thanks to the LCD finish. Not bad, but not great either. - Color accuracy is mediocre out of the box. It's decent once calibrated and most of the frivolous OSD options turned off. - Complains at you if you don't use supplied cables (warnings can be disabled), but it doesn't come with 2 HDMI cables. My AmazonBasics HDMI 2.0 cable works very well with every device I tested, but the monitor still shows a popup complaining about it. Just feels wrong. - Remembers your last input source, so if the monitor is asleep and you turn on a device that was not your last used source, it won't wake the monitor until you manually switch inputs using the joystick under the bezel. I couldn't find an auto-detect input mode. - All 3 units I tried had poor color consistency across the screen. Lots of reddish areas near edges/corners on every unit. For the 3 units I tried, I had to return each due to: Unit #1: Horrible color distortion based on angle. Very headache-inducing as my left and right eyes would see different colors for the same spot on the screen. It kind of felt like I was permanently wearing one of those old red/blue 3D glasses. The OSD joystick had its Up/Left/Center (and sometimes Right) button sensors broken and refused to work until the monitor had warmed up about 10 minutes, making input switching impossible at times. Unit #2: Almost acceptable panel color consistency. The OSD joystick worked perfectly! However, there were vertical pin-stripe lines that ran all the way down the screen, about 0.75 - 1" wide of the right edge, regardless of what was being displayed (even with no devices connected, in the menu screens). The entire screen would also flicker when any vibration was applied to the desk. How did this make it past QC? Or maybe it was shipping damage? Unit #3: Mediocre panel color consistency with red areas in the bottom corners. Same dead OSD joystick Up/Left/Right/Center buttons as #1. Sometimes, the image would flicker when adjusting monitor angle. Given my experience with the other units, I wasn't going to keep something that already has something loose internally. I'm very sorry for Amazon for having to put up with my returns, but this budget model of a display really needs to be removed until LG gets these kinds of issues resolved. I was hoping to win the QC roulette, but I'm giving up. If the chances of getting a decently functional monitor without a glaring defect are this low, I suggest you stay away from this model.
