The Path to Becoming a Proverbs 31 Wife: Walking in Your God-given Role

This devotional had my heart from the beginning. When starting a devotional about the Proverbs 31 wife, most would think that it would deal with how to become the “perfect wife” who does her chores without complaint, keeps the household running smoothly, and somehow manages to make the children behave and keep everyone happy. But from the first few pages, Jennifer proves that we can trust her as she takes us day-by-day through this well-known, and dare I say infamous, passage of Scripture. The message that God has laid on Jennifer’s heart is not one of condemnation or judgement for wives. Rather, it is a message of encouragement, of worth, and of value. Jennifer’s devotional reminds us that we were divinely ordained to be “‘an aid, a backer, an advocate, and a champion’” for our husbands, not just a maid, a cook, and a nanny. Our role is not a passive one but an active one as we work alongside our husbands and compliment them in their weak areas with our strengths. Don’t misunderstand, though. This isn’t simply a feel-good, pat-you-on-the-back kind of devotional. The message Jennifer brings is not a weak, watered down one. Quite the contrary, it is a powerful, anointed word brought forth from numerous Scriptures, and in each devotional, she even takes the time to draw from the original Hebrew or Greek and break down the meaning of specific, key words. The daily devotions contained within this book will challenge you to grow and mature in your marriage as well as in Christ while encouraging you and cheering you on as you attempt fulfill your God-given role as partner and helpmeet.

This book has been a difficult read in that it really pushed me to make needed changes in my marriage. I did this study with several other ladies and also bought the leadership guide. Although some of it has been challenging I realized early in to just trust the process of this book. When I submitted to what I felt God was leading me through, my marriage revitalized and went from pretty good to great! I highly recommend this book.

Good book.

This is a great book to help identify your role as a wife in accordance with God’s word. It puts a lot of questioning and confusion into perspective and gives good spiritual guidance as how to be the best version of a wife that God expects YOU to be. Highly recommend, especially if you are new to marriage, planning to be married soon, or need to get back on track in a seasoned marriage.

This is a great book showcasing our identities as wives in Christ! It reminds us of the beautiful truth of God’s word and instills so much inner confidence as we not only walk out our calling and purposes from God, but also support our husbands in theirs. I would highly recommend!

Anyone who has been around Biblical teachings has heard about the Proverbs 31 wife. She is always held up as what every wife should strive to be. This is a very good devotional book that leads you through Proverbs 31. It explains what God means in this chapter & how a wife can lead the type of life it teaches. Every young wife should read this book & apply it to their marriage. It would certainly make life so much better!

I have read a few of these books that are similar in title. I would recommend it this one to all that are trying to become closer to the lord and husbands as well. My favorite thing about the book was how at the end the author adds a mini chapter not wanting you to get discouraged when your 31 days is up; !

Really help me with my marriage and how to be a virtuous wife!

I used this a long with the love dare, and it opened my eyes to some problematic behavioral patterns of mine. I have loved the day by day approach and the questions at the end of each day. It is challenging, but a good pre marriage read!!
