Is this music stand easy to store and remove in the carrying bag? My daughter will need to set it up and then store in her locker every day.

The bag is 14" x 22". Everything collapses to fit in the bag. It is nice and sturdy and has a wider bottom ledge lip to hold music books, etc. Very nice stand, not flimsy...The solid back plate is 12" x 16.5"....

If you’re having to write on your music sheet, does the stand tip over easily?

The base of the stand is very sturdy and will not shift or move if you do need to write on your sheet music. The stand will not rotate either. In fact the ledge where you rest your sheet music will probably be wide enough to hold your pen. How handy!

Can i use this stand to sit down?

If you mean can it be adjusted low enough to sit in front of it and read music, yes. I put it behind my keyboard and it works fine as I sit and play. I think any instrument . . . flute, violin, etc. would be just fine. These could be used in an orchestra.

Is surface of stand's shelf smooth or coarse? A coarse surface makes noise when sheet music is dragged across it. A mic picks that up when recording.
