After Hurricane Laura I used this for 6 nights and a good bit during day on the batteries that were already in before hurricane. Replaced batteries on 8th day as the fan was slowing down. Duracell coppertop batteries. This is a great fan for the hurricane /emergency box.

how do you get it open to insert the batteries no directions

Open the fan. On the flat part the holds the fan upright there are 2 plastic screw like things. This piece is shaped like a U. Turn each with a screw driver to remove. Then pop off the top cover. The batteries are inserted inside. Replace the cover and plastic screw like pieces and tighten them.

Is there a DC car adapter for this fan

Got mine today, 2/11/2022. It came with an ac adapter.

It is quite. I wouldn't be able to sleep with a loud fan. I used it in a cruise cabin with no problem.
