Fowler 54-101-150-2 Xtra-Value Cal Electronic Caliper, Stain

My first Fowler purchase, several years ago, was a 24" dial caliper. It was not nearly as expensive as the traditional brand-name instruments, so I expected lower quality, but it filled a compelling need for me. When I received that device I was immediately impressed by just how well-made it was, and the smoothness of its operation. It has become an invaluable instrument for certain jobs. I feel it is one of the best bargains I have ever purchased. So when I decided to replace my old 12" dial calipers, and found a Fowler-brand unit for sale, I was hopeful it would also be a fine instrument at a hard-to-pass-up price. And it is. Again, impressive quality and smooth operation. It has quickly become an essential part of my workshop. Having inch and metric digital readout is a wonderful step-up from a dial readout. The 'zero' location is very stable. Now I cannot say anything about the accuracy of these calipers -- I am not set up to calibrate them to NIST standards. But their measurements do seem to be highly repeatable. I am willing to believe they meet their advertised accuracy. The next time I'm in the market for measuring instruments I'll be looking for a Fowler.

I was skeptical but also tired of buying multiple "cheap" calipers that were certainly not as sturdy as this one. I was looking for a reliable caliper that could endure an everyday use with minimal maintenance. This is a great value for the money, feels premium and accuracy is on point. Something tells me it will be my last :)

Vary reliable, sturdy, ergonomical, and easy to read! Does not have and on/off button but it's grown on me. Very budget friendly, reliable, and comes with a very nice and sturdy case. (Also comes with 1 ea. Battery, has spot for 2 replacements in the case)

Great value for the kind of work i'm doing.
