The product works well with my 80+ lb Doberman and 63 lb pit bull. The dobie weaves so he needs an effective collar. I used the thicker stainless before, but this thinner collar works as well if not better. My sixth red male dobe. But beware. This is the 3rd collar I am buying, because the links are not as firm as the thick stainless and on several occasions have slipped open and collar has fallen off the dog. I am fortunate to be able to let him run free on the beach or walk and investigate and he lost his collar last night. Second time in two years . Fortunately he is well trained and responds to voice commands. But I am purchasing another anyway be cause I find the collar superior in every other way. My fingers are arthritic and this collar works better for me than the heavier ones. My 63 lb pit walks like a dream she wears the collar too. She doesnt need a prong but she thinks sheโs a big deal when she has it on. Due to arthritis I only walk one at a time for safety reasons but they have the same size neck even though she can walk under the dobe.

I use prong collars on all of my puppies starting at four months. We do off leash work in the house until they get all of their vaccines, then we move outside where there is nothing but distractions. Lizards, bugs, ducks, great blue herons, dogs, neighbors, landlords, leaves falling, you know, distractions. I have been trained properly on how to use a prong collar and I do not recommend them to anyone who has not had experience or proper training. I found the black collar... so we had to get the black links. It all has to match. I am a girl after all. Anywho, Herm Springer is one of the best brands in prong collars. They last forever and are made with quality. The dog determines how long the collar is needed so I need something that will last. This current puppy is a complete heathen so I have a feeling we are going to be using this collar for a while. Good buy, good company, quality product. It's worth the extra money.

I bought the Pawmark adaptation of the Herm Sprenger prong collar - and it is wonderful!! Since the Pawmark collar and these links are Herm Sprenger, they fit perfectly; slip on easily - and so far, no problems. I had a store-bought brand of a prong collar awhile ago -- and I have to admit, in terms of 'correction' the HS are much more gentle on the dog -- and actually may not be as effective! But my Great Danes have mellowed considerably - probably from the use of other brand of prong collar, and are not any where near the pullers that they used to be. So for the state that they are in now, the HS (small link) work fine. Since it is no longer needed to 'teach' any more (rather 'just in case' -- and with a dog over 100 pounds it is good piece of mind), I bought the extra links to make it very large - thus loose around the neck -- so they will have no feeling of the prongs unless they pull (in the training mode, the collar should be high on the neck and snug, as recommended). The black looks so much better on my dark dogs -- and not so intimidating either!
