TERMINATOR: DARK FATE (BLU-RAY/DVD)

Well, I thought I learned my lesson about listening to critics bombing a movie. I was wrong, I judged this excellent movie by them again and from what others had said. I watched it (finally) from beginning to end without interputions and I'm glad I did. The movie was refreshing to see and the new characters made it exciting all over again. What can you say, Arnold was Arnold in the role made for him. Older but more sure of himself with respects to the part. Linda was still a bad ass with weapons and cocky, lending her experience to the given situations as the movie progressed. Mackenize, Natalia and Diego were refreshing to see and set in Mexico adds to a different lineage to the story. Just to add, there was NO reference to illegal aliens getting free anything, it was just part of the story! ( nor was there any preaching about them staying here.) I liked very much, sometimes it helps an established francise to relocate to bring interest and a fresh perspective back for the fans. Being bi-lingual, I found it easy to follow the scenes in Mexico with Grace, Dani and Diego. Too bad Diego's part was cut short, there could've been room for him in another movie. Dani and Grace have a good rapport going after Grace proves who she is. The trust is built and the story grows and moves along quite well. There is great potential for this Dark Fate team to grow if they decide to pick it up again. I really hope so, it would nice if "they'll be back."

Why did they have to go all woke on this one? Seriously, it was an all female cast minus Arnold of course and they made him out to be a has-been who sells draperies. Still as only Arnold can deliver, he killed their effort by turning it into fun amusement, that only America's 'strong man' could do with something so silly, especially since his character was a hardcore, 500 lb, metal machine underneath. Watching Gabriel Luna again years after seeing this movie when it first came out was a lot better. Plus he was featured for several episodes in Marvel's "Agents of Shield" which introduced him more so as an actor. I was still annoyed by the female, and tough female, and super soldier female cast. They totally lacked balance in assembling these characters. I get bringing back the Sara Connor character, now as an old has been of a future that never happened. They even mixed up the plot to get it off of the John Connor character which was considerably tiresome by this point. Maybe the protector could have been a man? Or... Arnold might have had more scenes and carried that role without having a secondary or yet a third protector. Afterall, the young unsuspecting female who replaces John, as the new target of a new future, ends up with a mature and seasoned Sarah who could have been all that was needed besides discovering Arnolds character as they did and bringing him in. Thus that would leave us without the super soldier female, which trippled down on things. Basically the writers wanted the audience to know that teaming up three women and a broken ex-terminator is what was needed to finally win against the latest machine from the future. Whatever... We then get the hotel scene and 'what', the women duke it out for the right to be the sovereign protector? This was just a waste. As much as there were character problems that went in this film, the overall movie still performed well in rewatching it years later.

I have watched each and every single Terminator movie, and this is by far the worst one. At this very moment, I'm literally shaking my head. I was done writing reviews for the day, and came across this... image waiting to be reviewed. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because the wonderful graphics, great sound effects that rocked my surround sound system, their ability to include the original cast members of old, the great action scenes (sometimes), the mix of different races, no gender discrimination, and their ability to fool me into thinking this would be an awesome follow-up to Terminator: Genisys. This isn't even a good movie to fall asleep to because you just KNOW in your dreams the plot sucks, the acting sucks, and the T-800 sucks. What the suck? I would love an opportunity to get a refund. I even watched it two more times to make sure I didn't lose my mind. Gone are the days where Terminator movies get a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, gone are the days where the T-800 is a believable force to be reckoned with. If you don't want to come across a spoiler, this is an ALERT!!! Please, read no further. My main problem with this movie is that it isn't believable. I love good, long action/sci-fi movies, but there was no climax with this movie and it seemed to be scattered... everything happened in a disorganized fashion. There was no real threat of the world ending. What kind of a futuristic machine needs a booster during every scene? You're trying to save the world, but you end up being assisted by someone a third of your size that has no earthly idea what she's doing until the VERY END of the movie? And who in the world (even in the sci-fi world) would be able to live with a half-ton machine being their family member in a daggone-near log cabin in the woods? What the heck is going on? The T-800 as a father? Look... I'm a sci-fi movie buff. I take pride in being a huge Terminator fan. But when I waited, and waited, and ignored the controversial/negative reviews I read only to see that this is a failure of a movie? I was heartbroken! I really believe that I'll never watch this movie ever again. It's quite 'boring' in comparison to all the others. At the end of the day, I'm glad I added this to my collection just to be able to say that I've seen all the movies in the franchise. It's alway great to see Mr. Schwarzenegger reprise his role! I love it! He should've been in this one more... much more! =/ I PAID TO SEE MR. SCHWARZENEGGER!!!!!!!... not a bunch of wanna-be militant spawns of Captain Marvel driving around in vehicles and having emotional moments/talks over fine china. Goodness... I bought the Blu-Ray DVD. =( Seeing as how that's the case, then I came to the conclusion of renaming this movie to the following; 'Terminator: Dark Fate (for the viewer)'.

Does Terminator: Dark Fate measure up to the first two movies? No. Those are immortal. But Dark Fate easily surpasses the other sequels, particularly T3 and Genisys. The opening minutes infuriated some fans but I applaud the filmmakers for a bold decision that continues the story thread in a logical and intriguing fashion. Linda Hamilton injects grit, soul and the authenticity of a mad, tortured warrior into the movie. Arnold’s performance and role are fresh and unique, thankfully breaking from what had become a caricature of the original T-800. Schwarzenegger is brilliant. Mackenzie Davis is fantastic. She has edge, moxie and heart. Quite simply, she rocks and adds a layer of newness to the protector role as a machine-human hybrid. The Rev-9 doesn’t fully capture the extraordinary menace of the T-1000 but Gabriel Luna’s upgraded techno-capabilities and his swagger and cocksure disposition are a welcome change of pace from recent villains in the Terminator universe. I genuinely like this film, one that I want to watch over and over, unlike the other post T2 movies. Haters can hate and bathe in vitriol but I thoroughly enjoyed Dark Fate despite its massive commercial failure. Dark Fate exudes a gritty tone and atmosphere that give the movie its own distinct personality. Plus it boasts sleek special effects and adrenaline-fueled action, including a wicked cool fight scene in which Grace wields a sledge as well as an opening car chase that is among the most imaginative and best I have ever watched in cinema. And the C5 plane scene is absolutely bananas! Finally ... finally ... finally ... a solidly satisfying Terminator sequel!
