Mahlepi! A hard to find spices, Found!
Happy to have found this item in NY Spice Shop! It is not a product you can pick up at any grocery chain. It used in mideastern pastry and cookies. Its flavor cannot be substituted.

Good quality mahlab
I was very satisfied with the quality of this mahlab seed. These smelled fresh, not rancid like many seeds and nuts often unfortunately are.

Excellent freshness and flavor
A great way to get such a fresh unique flavor for what you are baking. I have ground the seeds with a mortar and pestle. And also gotten a finer texture with my ninja.

Fresh Mahleb
Mahleb arrived quickly and was very fresh with good aroma.4 It’s very hard to find the seeds in adequate amounts elsewhere.

Rancid and bitter
I was super disappointed when I opened this mahlab and popped one in my mouth to find it rancid, bitter and nothing like the floral nuanced spice I love. So much for buying on Amazon… I’ll wait to get it from the big city grocer!
