A fantastic find! (Just make sure you have the right table for it)
I was looking to play table tennis with my father at our house but I did not want to buy a whole set to just pick up and play. After searching long and far I came upon this Sportcraft set. I was NOT disappointing.First of all, what comes in the set is of very high quality. The set comes with 3 balls which are solid and haven't dented from dozens of *very* hard slams. I bought a set of extra balls and they still haven't been opened yet. The paddles are solid wood and the rubber has not peeled off. Additionally, the plastic for the net is very strong and taut, and it has been abused for a bit with hard shots and springs right back to life. The clamps are solid with a nice rubber protection underneath. It also comes with a mesh pouch for storage that honestly leaves a lot to be desired, but the whole set is small and succinct enough as is that it can be thrown in any bag easily. The net extends *VERY* wide. It should fit any reasonable table width with no problem. The clamps also extend pretty far. The really do mean 2 inches in the description. What is of the utmost importance, however, is that you have a table with a lip around it. This set is springy and you simply cannot just unwind it and play on top of a table. Your table must have a lip of less than 2 inches to work. This shouldn't be a problem for a majority of tables, but if you were to play on a bed or some large granite surface (like a kitchen top) this might be a problem. Just make sure before purchasing that you have a table with edges of less than 2 inches. What is great about the grips is that they are about an inch wide and grip tight, so even if your table/surface does not have perfectly right-angled edges (my table has a 45 degree angle going inward) it will still grip.Overall, I could not be happier with my purchase. I have played this for many hours and it has not relented. It is extremely fun and will withstand a ton of abuse. It's great for going on a trip and using in a hotel room, or (as in my case) keeping around to play on a dining room table with friends come over. And the price makes this hard to beat.

Awesome travel game
I spend a significant amount of time on the road, and this little set will be a regular companion for group outings. This is by far the best portable table tennis set on the market. I've seen other portable kits that use screw-type clamps to mount. This one uses a spring-loaded gripper, push down on the blue slider, and the mouth opens up ready to bite a table. The net is coiled inside the vertical mounts, so there's no net mess when it's packed up, and setting up is as quick as pulling the verticals away from each other. The best part of using these is finding creative table shapes to play on. My "boat" shaped office conference table tapers at either end, and adds quite a bit of challenge. I've played in airports on 4x4' square tables (you can also play these diagonally as a diamond shaped table!), which makes for a very fast game, and I recently played on a 4' wide by 20' long table where we had to make double bounces legal to keep the game moving. Set it up next to a wall to play against yourself,While the net and stand seems fairly sturdy, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the paddles. Kudos for actually using wooden paddles, but straight out of the packaging, the rubber is already starting to peel up from the wood. Even though they're brand new, they're already getting the rubber surface flop that all old paddles eventually get. Easy fix with some glue, but I feel likeHowever, even with the flawed paddles, if you like fun at all, for $10 this falls into the must-buy category.

Fun, practical alternative to buying a real table tennis table
I was thinking of plunking down hundreds of dollars for a real table tennis table, but I wasn't even sure a good (2-piece) one would be able to fit down my basement stairwell, so I was delighted to discover this set on sale for less than fourteen bucks, including shipping. I just set it up on our 90" x 40" solid birch dining room table, and it worked great! Couldn't be easier to set up: just open the spring-loaded clamp to attach the net to one side of the table, extend the retractable net across the table, and similarly attach the other side. Now, as others have noted, the paddles are cheapo, barely padded, and sound almost like your smacking the ball with bare wood, but that can easily be forgiven at the price I paid, as I can obtain better paddles and balls when/if I like, and the price is well worth the net alone. Similarly, the included balls are slow and not as bouncy as most, so just go get nicer ones when/if you like. But everything needed to start playing (net, 2 paddles, and 3 balls) is included, and it even comes with a little mesh bag! For a dirt cheap price, in my opinion. My wife usually frowns at my (many and often costly) purchases, but she gave this one 5 stars. We plan to recommend it to everyone --except perhaps our friends who have a pricey new solid cherry table... But, for the most part, I can't see what harm a ping pong ball is going to do to our solid birch table, frankly.
