The Nesco VS-12 is a solid vacuum sealer that delivers impressive power for its size. It seals quickly and consistently, even with bulk items, and the controls are straightforward and easy to use. Much better than the last sealer that I had. I thought wow this is a really good product. Easy to use, does a great job… Now only if I had the hose attachment to do additional things… Then I realized it has that. So this went from really good to Shazam Batman wow! Terrific price, easy to use, as loud as all the others lol has plenty of bags included. Additional bags at a great price.

Bought this instead of smaller models or the ones on tv (if you order in the next 30 minutes). We would rather spend a little more for something that is going to last. We have had this dealer for a few months with absolutely no issues. It is easy to use for just about any type of food. Once you get the hang of it you can seal items very quickly. We have had meat that was sealed in the freezer for several months with absolutely no freezer burn. While packing the freezer we came across other items in regular freezer bags that had to be thrown out. The only minor (very minor) complaint is the sealing surface is about 2 inches above the counter top leaving 2 choices. One, cut the bags to a longer length or second, get a box from the pantry lay it down against the sealer and now the bag is level with the sealing strip resulting in not having to use long cut bags.

So far so good. The sealer works great without any problems and t's simple to use. Only problem is the bags came dirty. I kept them because they are dirty on the outside but it's not what you want to see when working with food. I have to keep cleaning them.

This sealer works very well and their customer service is amazing. I've had it for 3 years and I used it a LOT. It is a trusty workhorse. Recently, it stopped pulling a vacuum. I contacted Nesco and asked for advice on troubleshooting the problem. They thought it was the sealing gaskets, so they sent me replacements for FREE. I was well past the warranty period and they didn't even ask when I bought the unit. They just sent me the gaskets. Now, it works like new. I highly recommend this sealer. It's rare to find a company that stands behind their products like that. I would 100% recommend the VS-12 if you're in the market for a vacuum sealer.

This is a good all around sealer. The features are what you need. The sealer strip is flawless. It's easy to clean drip tray is appreciated. I've been using it for 5 years now. Apart from having to replace the teflon isolation tape for the sealer strip (search "teflon sealer tape 1/2" on Amazon- $5 for a lifetime supply), it's been bulletproof. My only quasi-complaint is the level of vacuum. It's rated at 26" hg, pretty average, but I would like a little higher. I'm using 4mm bags for durability and with the bag being cold from the ingredients, the vacuum isn't high enough to stretch the thicker plastic into all the voids, so pockets of air CAN be left. This is rare and is almost always when a bone is involved. What really stands out about this sealer is the customer service. I'd had it for about 8 months and it ingested some marinade from the drip tray (my fault), and wouldn't really produce a decent vacuum any more. I contacted them via email and they immediately shipped me a replacement. 3 days TOTAL! As good performance as any other, 5 years of reliability and customer service like that.... A clear winner. Not to mention, it's 5 years later and they are still around.

I've had two or three FoodSaver vacuum sealers over the years, but when my last one died, I considered buying a Nesco model—especially when I saw the prices on FoodSavers. I do own other Nesco products, so it didn't seem like a gamble. This Nesco Deluxe Food VS-12 sealer seemed to have all the features I wanted, and at a much better price point, so I pulled the trigger and made the purchase. I would say the build quality is better than my previous FoodSaver models. It appears to be very sturdy, yet fairly compact. When you're ready to seal, it locks very securely with the handle (Nesco instructs you not to store it with the handle in the locked position, to avoid deforming the gasket). I found the lock to be better than FoodSaver's. There is storage for a roll of bags, and the built-in cutter operates easily. In the rear of the machine there are tabs to wrap the cord around when storing. You have your choice of variable settings: dry/moist/double seal and normal or gentle pressure. And there are several modes: Vacuum and Seal, Manual Seal, Cannister, Marinade, and a Pulse function. Although it does not come with an accessory hose for cannisters (you can order one), the one I kept from my previous FoodSaver is compatible and works just fine. I have had no problems getting bags to seal. I really like the digital display that counts down as your contents are vacuumed and sealed. All brands of vacuum seal bags seem to be compatible, as are other brands of storage cannisters. The drip tray is not removeable like the FoodSaver models are, but is easy to wipe clean. I hunt, and I seal and freeze game that I've processed, portioning jerky, etc.. I also use it for cooking meat using the sous vide method. Great for marinating and for storing food in cannisters. Also useful for protecting non-food items, such as Sterling silver, from oxidizing and tarnishing. I've even sealed and stored a heavy wool shirt using large pleated bags in order to keep moths from getting to it. My only minor complaint is that it did not include an accessory hose. Other than that, I am extremely satisfied with the quality, the function, and of course, the value. I'm glad I purchased the Nesco model, and I definitely recommend it.

It's 7 months later, and I wasn't very happy with it but thought I should give it more time to see if it was operator error - and maybe it still is. The sealer would not work right out of the box, so I called support, and they said to soak the gaskets in water overnight because they were probably dry from being stored, and that seemed to help. The sealer only seems to work with their brand of bags. I could not get it to seal with other the 'name brand' rolls that I already had; I think the problem was that those bags were a bit thicker. I ended up having to donate those other bags. It seems to seal fine with their brand of rolls but if there is a wrinkle, and there are a few on beginning and end of their rolls, it will not seal the bag, and you have to throw that part away. I cannot find the narrower rolls, so I am finding that I waste quite a bit of the bag unless I form the meat into a tube shape to at least try and use the width of the bag. The photo is of sliced tenderloin, but ground beef needs to be the same shape. Also, don't try and skimp on the length, you have to make sure you have enough to properly place the bag into the vacuum channel; I've had some waste cutting them the same length that I could have with my old 'Seal-A-Meal', and it would not seal. After this current roll is gone, I will donate this one and buy a Seal-A-Meal. I had an inexpensive one for years and never had these issues with it.

I’ve been using the Nesco VS-12 for meal prep, and it has completely upgraded my routine. The suction power is strong and consistent, and I like that it gives you a few different sealing options (dry/moist, normal/gentle). It makes it really easy to seal everything from raw meats to cooked leftovers without worrying about leaks or failed seals. The viewing lid is surprisingly handy, you can actually see where the bag is placed so you don’t waste material. The included starter bags were good quality, and the built-in bag cutter is a nice touch that keeps everything clean and sized properly. It’s compact enough to leave on the counter but still feels solid and well-built. After sealing a week’s worth of meals, every bag stayed airtight in the freezer with no issues. If you're doing meal prep or bulk cooking, this thing is a game changer. Strong 5/5.

Waste of money doesn't conform to uk standards due to American plug and wattage. Costs you between £50 and £60 pounds to send back due to amazon telling you to send it direct to supplier. DO NOT BUY.
